What’s in a name??? Just look to 3rd-Shift and you will find your answer. His name means that he is working while you are sleep or not focused. Influenced by his step father who worked the midnight shift, Kelvin "3rd-Shift" Brown is in line to become the next Hip-Hop super producer. Boasting a unique sound of pavement shaking percussion and extensive melodies he has substance to drive him to the top of the plateau. But, don’t tell him that. Kelvin keeps a humble attitude when it comes to his craft and lets his music speak on his behalf. He has worked with independent artists from California to New York and everywhere in-between. "People want to work with me because they know that my sound is different, I’m professional and that I get the job done. Not bad for a kid with big dreams. Formerly a college athlete, Kelvin relocated from his small liberal arts college in Columbus, Ohio to New Orleans, Louisiana to from 3rd-Shift Productions LLC. "I was beginning to grow out of football. I wanted to do something that interested me and I was pretty good at beats. I started thinking; can I turn this into money?" Kelvin sat down and prioritized his goals and began looking for a school that could help him turn his dreams into reality. His search led him to Loyola University New Orleans as a Music Industry Studies Major. The dividends have already begun to pay off. Kelvin has formed his very own production company, managing an artist and has laid plans of starting a record label. "Everybody has a label these days. I don’t have the knowledge to do that yet. But when I do, I’m going to start one. I’ve already got the name of it (laughs). [7874 Recordings] is a long way off. "Right now, I know beats. I know good music. So I’m focused on branding my sound with 3rd-Shift Productions LLC and linking up with great artists to make great music. I don’t know anything about managing either, but I’m going to get my feet wet in it. I’ve been talking to some prominent people about it and I feel I’m up to it so why not?" They say Hip-Hop is dead. But, when you look at people like Kelvin "3rd-Shift" Brown you KNOW otherwise.
