Yes, it is one of a few occasions that is nationally recognized to Honour and Remember those that are serving our country presently, MIA, or Fallen. My first experience of war was Vietnam......

from Philip Caputo’s
book, “A Rumor of War.”

“So much was lost with you,
so much talent and intelligence
and decency. . . you embodied
the best that was in us. You
were a part of us, and a part of
us died with you, the small part
that was still young, that had not
yet grown cynical, grown bitter
and old with death. . . whatever
the rights or wrongs of the war,
nothing can diminish the rightness
of what you tried to do . . .
You were faithful. Your country
is not . . .
“As I write this, 11 years after
your death, the country for
which you died wishes to forget
the war in which you died. Its
very name is a curse . . . But
there are a few of us who do
remember because of the small
things that made us love you —
your gestures, the words you
spoke, and the way you looked.
We loved you for what you were
and what you stood for.”

Thought For The Day ---------------------- NAIL IN THE FENCE
There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence He said, 'You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there. ' A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one. Friends are very rare jewels, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share words of praise and they always want to open their hearts to us.' . Share this if you like with YOUR FRIENDS....... Please forgive me if I have ever left a hole.

Light of Angels Everywhere

Your light ever so subtle
but yet again, so bright.
So convoluted...
by the mysteries of the night.

Clouds of misty blue
magically floating
all over you.

and I wish...
I wish...
I could too.

Thin as a whisper,
in the silence of the night,
like a veil of fine lace
draped softly about your face.

So sheer...
Then solid does replace.
Sometimes I can see
but an inkling of your face.

Or you become
but an ethereal line of light.
In every form you are
a truly remarkable sight.

Your lines curved between clouds,
like a majestic bird
soaring in flight...
A power, a wonder
Of the night.

Then alas,
you reappear in full view,
ever so slowly
hazy and subdued.

You are the essence of the night.
And for a moment
you are in the clear,
radiant and glowing,
your brilliance all showing.

Your aura almost religious...
The light with which you grace
forming a muted cross about your face,
as if God was standing in that space
saying 'My Child, Keep the Faith.'

Alone, in this room
I stare at this Blue Moon
letting the peace of it sink in...
Knowing, far too soon,
it will shroud itself again.

I ask God,
“Why do you show me such beauty,
when again it must desist?”

He said, “My Child, I show you,
so you believe that it exists…”
