About

Description
The musician, composer and singer Alejandro Sanz began his artistic career in 1991 with the recording of VIVIENDO DEPRISA (produced by Miguel Angel Arenas). This album, which went platinum seven times and sold over a million copies, marked the rise of one of the most prestigious and remarkable stars on the current Spanish pop music scene, a real legend.

Alejandro’s second album, SI TU ME MIRAS (produced by Miguel Angel Arenas and Nacho Maño), followed the first in 1993. This recording was a firm basis for him to mature musically and gave him an opportunity to collaborate with stars such as Paco de Lucia, and Chris Cameron.

A year later, he recorded the live album Alejandro Sanz BASICO (produced by Nacho Maño), as a tribute to his most loyal fans. It includes some of the best tracks from his previous albums and was released on a special limited edition.

His next album was recorded in Venice in 1995, with Miguel Angel Arenas and Emanuele Ruffinengo on the production. Alejandro Sanz 3 demonstrates this artist’s unquestionable talent and proved that his up-and-coming musical career was already crossing Spanish borders, as large crowds applauded his music in the different countries he visited on his tours.

Alejandro Sanz had aimed high, but more was still to come: MAS.

MAS, the fourth album in his recording career, was the result of almost three years of hard work. During this time, Alejandro increased his musical knowledge, studied the piano and wrote about 30 songs. After a long and hard selection process, ten were finally chosen to be included on the album.

That was one of the keys to the success of MAS. This album, recorded in Milan in 1997 and produced by Miguel Angel Arenas and Emanuele Ruffinengo, broke all the Spanish music records at the time: it was in the best selling charts for 77 weeks, 26 weeks number 1 during 21 consecutive weeks when it was released and number 1 again for 5 weeks a year and a half after its release. MAS sold more than five million copies worldwide.

This album includes some of the most memorable moments of Spanish music in the latest times:“Y ¿si fuera ella?”, “Corazón Partío”, “Amiga Mía”... The album was followed up by a world tour and uncountable records, awards und accomplishments. Alejandro became the most rewarded artist in the history of Spanish music.

With MAS Alejandro Sanz has crowned as a contemporary legend in Latin Music. But he still remains an artist, and his thirst for music was not quenched. In 2000, after working for over one year, Alejandro Sanz released, EL ALMA AL AIRE, again produced by Emanuele Ruffinengo, his sixth album, which would once again beat every record, since it was the quickest album in Spain to reach sales of one million copies (1 week).

Alejandro reaches new musical heights with EL ALMA AL AIRE and his inspiration seems to be inexhaustible, as he endows each song in the new album with an overwhelming emotion. The “El alma al aire” tour, which followed up the release of the album, was the biggest tour ever held by an Spanish artist, and he beat all records in Latinamerica, United States and Spain.

Alejandro Sanz has sold to date more than two and a half millions copies of EL ALMA AL AIRE worldwide, and he obtained with this work his first nomination to the Grammy Awards.

In September 2001, Alejandro Sanz gathered 5 nominations to the 2nd edition of the Latin Grammy Awards, but the ceremony, to be held in Los Angeles, was cancelled because of the terrible international events of September 11th. A more austere gala was celebrated on October 30th , and Alejandro achieved 4 of the 5 Awards he was nominated to, and he became the great winner of this second edition. He received the Award to the Record of the Year for “El Alma al Aire”, Song of The Year for “El alma al aire”, Best Male Pop Vocal Album for EL ALMA AL AIRE, and Album Of The Year for EL ALMA AL AIRE.

In 2001 Alejandro Sanz sets again a milestone in pop music by being the first Spanish artist to released an MTV UNPLUGGED. This album sold more than 1.300.000 copies worldwide and won 3 Latin Grammy Awards on its 3rd edition.

Alejandro Sanz has sold 18 million albums worldwide during the
course of his career .

2004-NO ES LO MISMO, Sanz´s sixth studio recording, is an expression of the Madrid-based musician’s current creative state and reflects his continued growth as one of contemporary music’s greatest and most interesting songwriters.

NO ES LO MISMO marks Sanz´s debut as a producer of his own work working together with the Cuban musician/producer Lulo Perez. The album was recorded and mixed from February to June of this year at the legendary Criteria/The Hit Factory studios (Hotel California, Saturday Night Fever) and was engineered by Rafa Sardina (Babyface, Rod Stewart), mixed by Mick Guzauski (Eric Clapton, NSYNC, Celine Dion) and mastered by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering studio in New York.
