After completing the tour of my previous album, "Aviones de cristal", (crystal Airplanes), my record label published (only in America) a compilation album titled “Siempre en mi mente” (Always on my mind), which included hits from my first three albums along with some rare ones, I therefore embarked in a new tour that extended until the end of 2007.
Then came a time to stop. A stop to look back and think about what I had done and what I wanted to do. I then reviewed my box of songs and I realized that I needed to write new ones, and that I also needed to reinvent myself without loosing my identity.
Thus, in early 2008 I began the process of composing the new album, a process which in reality does not end until the recording is already well advanced.
In the search for the renewal of my sound I decided to try a new musical producer, Cachorro Lopez, a renowned Argentinean producer, Despite not knowing him personally I have always admired his work. He was the first one I thought of, and was very excited about the project when we started talking about it.
So, in early August 2008 and already with a repertoire of new songs under my arm, I moved to Buenos Aires to record with Cachorro and his team in Mondomix studios. It was two and a half months of hard work that shaped “CALLE ILUSION” (Illusion street), an album with ten new songs and two versions: “Mil Horas” (Thousand hours) by Andres Calamaro, composed during his tenure with “Los abuelos de la nada” (legendary Argentinean band in which Cachorro Lopez played bass guitar) and “Me cuesta tanto olvidarte”, a hit song by Mecano. Our studio work was very productive, and as I mentioned before, numerous new ideas and new songs surfaced which ultimately I ended up including in place of others.
In addition to Cachorro I should also mention the work of Sebastian Schon, Demian, Cesar, and all the musicians who participated in this record. Also the participation of my friends Ale Sergi (Miranda), Jose Dominguez, Luis Gomez Escolar and Mikel Erentxun.
"CALLE ILUSIÓN" is a personal, melodic, and positive album. Inspired by love, lack of love, the day to day, what happens to me, what worries me and what makes me restless. In what I see when I open my eyes and when I close them. Ultimately inspired by things that move me inside. I believe that this is an album that has variety, one in which does not drive me to listen to the tunes twice at the same time.
You will find romantics ballads like "Me arrepiento" or "20 horas de nada", slower tempos and faster tempos as "Amarrado a ti", "Ciudad desierta", "Demasiado amor" or "Amsterdam", comprimising lyrics as in "No estás sola", even some reggae-pop rhythm songs as in "Mil horas" and "Calle ilusión".
So this is how I present my 4th Studio album. I feel it is the best I’ve done, and I am really very excited and eager to share it. I hope you like it.
Welcome to "CALLE ILUSIÓN".
