Prince is a phenomenal performer....I saw him in his hometown (Minneapolis) on December 26, 1984, the Purple Rain tour...He played for hours and came out for a few encores besides...I will never forget it.

hey i think i finally understand the song....

i looked around and found out that a girl who had died on an operating table (but came back alive) said that she saw purple rain on the other side...so i guess their talking about heaven right? and when you think heaven, you think happiness. So he only wanted to see her happy even though he caused her pain. wow. that's really sweet, and makes the song sweeter.
