How did it feel for you seeing Barack Obama elected president?

Alina: I was filled with emotion... he is so amazing and it doesn't matter if
he is black or white, what matters to me is to change the country and
economy. He is young and fresh!!

America is proving that it can change by selecting Mr. Obama as its President!

Altsounds: You became an overnight sensation as a model, are you hoping to accomplish the same success as a singer?
Alina Puscau: If I’m lucky and people love me. In many ways it depends on me and trust me, I want that but it also depends on if people like my music.

Altsounds: What did you aspire to be as a child?
Alina Puscau: I wanted to become a singer and an actress. When I was a child, I would put on my mom’s clothes and sing in the mirror. It’s like when you grow up, you change your mind all the time. The only mind I had was to be a singer and an actress.

Altsounds: Which artist has influenced you the most?
Alina Puscau: I grew up on Madonna and Michael Jackson and consider them the biggest influences. I admire Mariah Carey because she’s a living legend and she’s amazing.

Altsounds: How did the transition from model to singer take place?
Alina Puscau: I did a song that Brett Ratner liked and he knew my producer and he asked me to do a song for his movie Rush Hour 3. I did “Everybody Likes Me,” and it helped to open the door for me making an album.

Altsounds: Are you still modelling and which career is more important to you?
Alina Puscau: Yeah, I’m still modelling and singing is more important right now. The way I accomplished modelling, I want to accomplish singing. I think in life you should try everything, so I’m trying singing. I’m trying acting.

Altsounds: 'When You Leave’ “Numa Numa” the fist single from your album was remixed by the notorious Swedish DJ/artist Basshunter, how did this come about?
Alina Puscau: I decide to use the song because the group is from Romania. I talked to my record company to ask if it would be OK. But, it was my final decision and I met Basshunter here and he said he wanted to mix the song.

Altsounds: Your album is very eclectic, there are reggae-Ton, house, down tempo and dance influences, what is your favourite genre of music?
Alina Puscau: I like Hip-Hop, Pop, I like everything. I enjoy many different sounds especially if it puts me in a great mood. That’s why my album is different, because I want people to enjoy the different sounds of the music and all my songs are very real. Every song is something special. The first single, it makes you really happy, it can put you in a great mood and make your day.

Altsounds: What artist would you like to do a collaboration with and why?
Alina Puscau: I don’t know there’s so many. At my top I would say Kanye West because he’s very smart, he’s a producer, and he knows to make people laugh. His last album was amazing.

Altsounds: What is your favourite album at the moment?
Alina Puscau: I would have to say Lil Wayne. I like rap a lot and I dance to it all the time. I like the T.I. album that came out a week ago and Katy Perry.

Altsounds: Which producer would you love to work with and why?
Alina Puscau: Kanye West and Timbaland.

Altsounds: Some of your favourite songs of all time such as "Not Gon'Cry" by the R&B diva Mary J Blige, "Sweetest Thing" by the notorious Lauryn Hill, "We belong Together" by the legendary Mariah Carey and "Lately" by Jodeci are R&B tracks however this influence does not transpire on your album, any reasons why??
Alina Puscau: Yes, these are some of my favorites, but this is my first album and I wanted to keep a certain theme on it. I worked with many people from Romania on the album and I wanted Everybody Wants Me to touch on my love for Romania because I’m proud to be from there.

Altsounds: Are you planning a tour in the near future?
Alina Puscau: Yes of course… I can’t wait. I’m planning to go to Europe actually because I come from Europe.

Altsounds: Most of the songs on your album are romantic at heart and promote meaningful aspects of life such as love, health, family and friends. How did you manage to keep so grounded in such a superficial industry (fashion and sometimes music too)??
Alina Puscau: I come from a super family and l have gone through a lot of experiences in life and I’ve learned from my mistakes. Everybody learns from there mistakes and it’s also about the people that you have around you. I try to be around good people.

Altsounds: Top model, singer, what's next?
Alina Puscau: Acting. Acting and singing in a lot ways are the same because when you sing, you sing what you feel. When you act, you act what you feel. You have it inside and you bring out.

Altsounds: What's you favourite book of all time?
Alina Puscau: I know it’s not a book, but right now I’m reading playwrights by Tennessee Williams. As far as books though, I like the Alchemist and Eleven Minutes.

Her new single When You Leave "Numa Numa" is a clear indicator of what the Romanian native is bringing to the table.

As a former Victoria Secret Model, being in the spotlight is nothing new and she manages to focus that attention on her new album coming in October titled "Everybody Wants Me."

The album is dropping first in Romania, UK and over sea's markets later this year before it comes out in the states.

blog post You Vote Matters
Posted in News on Oct 14, 2008 at 4:23 AM
Watching the presidential debate between Barack Obama and John McCain has been a historic watch. For both of them, they are trying to achieve the highest of feats by becoming the next president of the United States.

On one side, you possibly have the first black president in Barack Obama and on the other, the first female vice president. All these first times are important, but I believe who's best capable of running the United States and helping so many that need help is the most important thing.

I hope you guys go out to vote because you vote is important.

blog post Alina's Canned Interview
Posted in News on Sep 24, 2008 at 3:44 PM
MissTheda: Before we get into your singing career, I want to start with you being a supermodel. How were you discovered?
Alina: I had entered a modeling contest and won. It’s a day I’ll never forget, because after I won, I called my mom and told her the good news and she didn’t believe me. She wasn’t being mean or anything like that, it was a sudden shock, but after explaining it to her a few more time finally believed me.

MissTheda: What was your life like before you became a model?
Alina: I was just a regular girl in Romania that was going to the university.

MissTheda: Well you’ve come a long way since those days. In fact, why don’t you tell us about how it was being a Victoria Secret Model?
Alina: It's actually pretty cool, you’d be surprised what kind of things come your way as a Victoria Secret Model. People treat you differently and you get invited to all kinds of events.

MissTheda: Now honestly... does an ordinary guy have any chance of dating a Victoria Secret Model?
Alina: [laughs] I guess! Everybody is different when if comes to dating so I can't speak for all the Victoria Secret Models, but for me it's all about chemistry. What do you think?

MissTheda: No comment...Beside’s chemistry, what else do you like in a man? Are you dating currently?
Alina: I'm not dating, but what I look for in a guy is for him to be funny, smart, down to earth and for us to have chemistry. I've dated a lot of wonderful guys, but we never clicked because there was no chemistry. I think that’s one of the most important parts to being with someone.

MissTheda: Did you have any favorite sports that you loved to playing growing up?
Alina: My favorite sport is tennis. I used to play it all the time in Romania, but right now I’ve moved over boxing. I do it at the gym almost everyday.

MissTheda: In other words, this is your workout. Do you not have any conventional model work out plans like Pilates and yoga?
Alina: [laughs] Just boxing. I did try a Yoga class done by Russell Simmons, but I didn't like it at all. There's too much stretching and long. I know that it's good for you but I dunno know... maybe it's because I'm young. I need to be moving in action, so one day I tried boxing and I've liked it ever since.

MissTheda: So you’re saying there’s no secret model diet?
Alina: There isn’t one, just hard work.

MissTheda: If you could eliminate the gym and suddenly into a superhero, what would be your amazing power?
Alina: I would say reading minds. I've always wanted to be able to figure out what people were thinking. I do admit though that I have this reoccurring flying dream that I’ve had ever since I was small.

MissTheda: Do you mean flying in a plane or flying like Superman?
Alina: Flying like Superman. I’ve been told that means something good.

MissTheda: Dreams do reflect some type of meaning to life, may be it’s a sign.
Alina: I think so.

MissTheda: While were on the subject of flying, what's the most exciting place you've traveled to?
Alina: I would have to say Paris. I just love it there.

MissTheda: I’m sure we both can agree that would be a cool city to do a show at one day especially since you’ve branched into singing. Has your life changed at all?
Alina: I would have to say no. I really feel it’s because I took some up some classes earlier in my modeling career that gave me perspectives on modeling, acting and singing. I feel very comfortable.

MissTheda: How would you describe your style?
Alina: I’m pop - dance.

MissTheda: At what point did you decide that you wanted to pursue a music career?
Alina: I’ve always wanted sing. Although, I have goals to act too, singing has always been apart of me.

MissTheda: What kind of music did you grow up listening to?
Alina: I played people like Madonna, Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey.

MissTheda: If I didn’t know any better, would have said O-Zone too. What made you want to take on their classic “Numa Numa” tune?
Alina: Well “Numa Numa” was made by O-Zone and they’re a Romanian group and I always like it. It’s a great song and on this version of it, I wanted to put my spin on it. There where some problems between the labels in getting permission to cover it in the beginning, but it all got worked out.

MissTheda: Have you ever met the guys from O-Zone?
Alina: No not yet.

MissTheda: I like the video it has a very cool concept. Who was the director and choreographer?

Alina: Brett Ratner directed it and Fatima Robinson was the choreographer. It was really cool to work with Brett, he’s amazing and Fatima has choreographed videos for Fergie and Rihanna.

MissTheda: "Everybody Wants Me" is the name of the album why the title and what does mean?
Alina: I called it "Everybody Wants Me" because ‘I think I'm hot and everybody wants me,’ just kidding. I'm very down to earth, so the title doesn’t reflect me. It’s the name of my first song from Rush Hour 3, so it’s special to me.

MissTheda: Other than Basshunter, who are some of the artists and producers that you’re working with on this album?
Alina: The album was mostly produced by Romanian label owner and producer Rad. He just played about all the instruments on the album..

MissTheda: When will the album be released?
Alina: It looks like it will be coming out sometime later this year. It will come out in Romania and over sea’s first and then come out in states later. Right now, my first single When You Leave "Numa Numa" is available on iTunes now.

MissTheda: Since you've been out between Hollywood, Paris, London and New York... have you met any of your musical icons like Madonna or MJ?
Alina: Last year I met Madonna and Mariah. Madonna is so nice and Mariah love's my song "When You Leave." She had heard it before it came out at the studio and now ever time I see her she says "Numa Numa." [laughs]

MissTheda: If you had to choose one person past or present to do a song with, who would it be and why?
Alina: Kanye West! I remember one time a friend had asked me to go to his concert and said yes, but on the day of the concert I was just really tired and told her that I would have to pass. The next day when I woke up, I had got a phone call from a friend telling me that Kanye put me on his website as "Girl of The Week." I thought that was so cool and I really like his music.

MissTheda: Being a model and singer is a big accomplishment, so have you accomplished all your goals?
Alina: No there is still so much more. I want to do films later and create a charitable organization back in Romania. I’ve already been offered film roles, but I haven’t found the right one yet.

MissTheda: We’ve reached the end of out interview, but do yo have any parting words?
Alina: Hummm... where do I start?

MissTheda: Just say what comes mind.
Alina: I want to say thank you to all my fans. I really appreciate them all.

I grew up a big fan of Madonna and Michael Jackson. When I got a little older and really began to pick up on American music even more, I became a big fan of Mariah Carey. I really think she's really amazing, but out of all the artists that I would like most to do a song with, it would be Kanye West.

I remember one time a friend had asked me to go to his concert and I said yes, but on the day of the concert I was just really tired and told her that I would have to pass. The next day when I woke up, I had got a phone call from a friend telling me that Kanye put me on his website as "Girl of The Week." I thought that was so cool. He's already put me on his website, so maybe working with him one day will happen too.

WHEN YOU LEAVE (NUMA NUMA)

Chorus:
When you leave my colors fade to gray
Numa numa ay, numa numa numa ay
Every word of love I used to say
Now I paint it everyday

Ma-ia-he, Ma-ia-hu, Ma-ia-ho, Ma-ia-haha
Ma-ia-he, Ma-ia-hu, Ma-ia-ho, Ma-ia-haha

Verse:
Hello, salute, it's me your babe
And I made something that's real to show you how I feel
Hello, hello, it's me Alina, I will paint my words of love
With your name on every wall

Chorus:
When you leave my colors fade to gray
Numa numa ay, numa numa numa ay
Every word of love I used to say
Now I paint it everyday
When you leave my colors fade to gray
Hey my lover stay or all my colors fade away
Every word of love I used to say
Now I paint it everyday

Ma-ia-he, Ma-ia-hu, Ma-ia-ho, Ma-ia-haha
Ma-ia-he, Ma-ia-hu, Ma-ia-ho, Ma-ia-haha

Verse:
I sold my strings, my songs and dreams
And I bought something to match the colors of my love
Hello, hello, it's me Alina, I will paint my words of love
With your name on every wall

Chorus:
When you leave my colors fade to gray
Numa numa ay, numa numa numa ay
Every word of love I used to say
Now I paint it everyday
When you leave my colors fade to gray
Hey my lover stay or all my colors fade away
Every word of love I used to say
Now I paint it everyday

No matter if I'm strutting down the catwalk or rehearsing in the studio, taking part in Fashion Week event's is a weakness. I'm a big fan of New York Fashion and L.A.. I've been spending part of my time going out to the events along with flying back forth from L.A. to touch up my album. In case you guys didn't know it's called "Everybody Want's" me. My new single When You Leave "Numa Numa" will be available on itunes, Rhapsody and other download sites.

Please don't think I'm this cocky chic because of the title of the album, it's just a really hot title, what do you think? In a couple of day's I'm heading to the L.A. fashion week and do more recording and hopefully make a great album for my great fans.
