International trio, American Yard are two stellar guys and one smokin’ lady, the unique group of talented individuals combines their cultures to create a musical movement of reggae, hip-hop, pop and jazz music. American Yard feels, "The Fugees meets Black Eyed Peas mixed with City High". American Yard members Stacy-Ann, Stevie and Blewz, set themselves apart by creating an inimitable sound all their own.
Hailing from Long Island, Blewz, the sole American in the group, blends his abilities with Jamaican songstress Stacy-Ann, whom he met when asked to write for her project. The third member Stevie, originally from London is a longtime friend of Stacy-Ann’s. The two go back as they both worked with the same management team. Blewz had been listening to Stacy-Ann's catalogue and the track that she did with Stevie was amazing. It immediately caught his and Akon's attention. Stevie got on board and American Yard came together as a group. The group’s chemistry is magnetic.
American Yard, signed to Konvict Muzik through Universal Motown/SRC, is lead by Akon's younger brother Bu Thiam. Bu has creatively worked with artists such as Lil' Zane, T-Pain, and Dolla. Bu is the co- CEO of Konvict Muzik; he works with Steve Rifkind and Sylvia Rhone bringing great success to Konvict Muzik.
American Yard's introduction is the fun- loving track, "Yes We Did", and is currently featured on ITunes. The song gives the listening ear a break from all the heart retching monotony that tends to flood the airwaves. The trio’s lyrics are visual and humorous. The beat takes away all the everyday stresses and makes the listener feel as they have been transported on their favorite vacation. As the song wraps up, you are singing "No You Didn't, Yes We Did."
Diving into the debut album there is solid production from Stevie English (American Yard), Hit Depot from Cayman Islands, Minim from Barbados, Hakim, Bilal and Tahj formerly of the Boys, Wayne Beathoven from Sweden, and Ike Boogie of the Atlanta DJ pool Super friends. Title tracks include, Whoopie, I am, Save some love, One Day, Crying Babies, Do it again, On and On, Put it on Silent, Stuck on Stupid, Letting Go, Rebound, Unlock My Heart, Sunny Days, and International Love.
Fans that are part of the American Yard movement know the trio by their distinguished logo, an A and a Y (AY), giving the effect of Japanese artwork or calligraphy. The logo assures a new AY craze as it is catchy to the eye and stamped on everything the group does, even their clothing. As AY's popularity spreads, so will the merchandise and additional marketing opportunities.
