A group calling itself the Wild Magnolias, participating in the local "Indian masking" traditions and performing New Orleans Mardi Gras music, extends at least back into the 1950's. The group's lead member was called the Big Chief, and at least three Big Chiefs are known to have headed the band for short stints prior to 1964: Leon, Flap, and Joe Lee Davis. In 1964, Bo Dollis became Big Chief of the group, having previously participated in other Mardi Gras tribes such as the White Eagles and the Golden Arrows.

David Axelrod
LP - Capitol, 1968

A masterpiece! This is one of David Axelrod's most perfectly realized albums -- and it's a brilliant batch of baroque arrangements, jazzy solos, and slightly subtle funky bits! The album contains the much-sampled song "Holy Thursday", but the whole thing has a very similar feel to that track -- with lots of sinister strings, rumbling drums, and archly-modern bits of instrumentation. A real killer -- and with the cuts "The Smile", "A Dream", "Song Of Innocence", and "The Mental Traveller". William Blake never sounded so funky!

It’s Forever

Mango peels on the bed to my left
Passion on her fingers, in her hair, and her lips
Juices dripping down her mouth down her cleavage,
Falling off her chin and splashing on her hips
More mango peels envelop her soft core
A sweet citric scent capturing her stare
A luscious burst around our devotion
Sweet is the taste of her skin oh so bare
Engulfed in each other we lay jointly
Drowning in mango sweetness and salty skin
I proclaim that love is hard to explain
But after all the things we’ve been through
I know what we have is love and a little stickiness’New2this

My Blanket

The beauty of your smile,
The gentleness of your kiss,
Makes me just dissolve,
And linger for a while,
Within my thoughts,
Our devotion is pure, it’s meant to be
That first kiss sent me to heaven,
And I know, you and I,
Will just walk together
Down this path of life,
Sharing our thoughts dreams
Two lives woven together,
Two souls combined
I couldn’t ask for anything more
To know you care and love me too
Its pure poetry… smile

Girl

I don’t think you know
Quite how long I’ve hoped
Wished and waited for
That one simple kiss
That kiss that would finally
Determined that you and I
Are more then just friends…
Last night I lay awake
Simply recalling the feel
Of your lips pressing into mine
For so long I could still feel the
Heart of an irreplaceable heart
Gently wrapped around my own…
I can’t wait to see you my dear
I promise to reunite these lips
With yours real soon
For only the touch of your lips
Is all I need…

Within you I lose myself...
Without you I find myself…

A love Like no Other

Have your ever had a friend who you known forever; that has been always
there in the darkest night. Has consoled you with an open heart and the
love of a friend? Did you ever have a friend; one you can reach with a
word, touch, or glance? My soul has reached out to hold dearly such a
voice. To whom the sounds remind me of “Love Poems”. When I felt
cupid’s arrow, I stepped out of the friend zone. Was I destined to fall
in real love with my best friend? There’s no doubt I Anthony Montgomery
James esq. love this woman. She is just so easy to love; a vision of
beauty I could no longer let go. I couldn’t stand to see this ebony
tulip of a woman hurt no longer; for I took that stand to want her
always in my daily being. A gust of wind passes my windowpane and the
sun seems brighter then ever; there is space in my heart for her love
and only her love. A love of honesty which is something I always hoped
for in a woman. A sweetness that calls to me that frees my every
organism. I breathe deeply as I think of her, seeing her wanting her
and I close my eyes; with lips touching in the wind the subway is
silent. And I can only feel the one that loves me...

Infinity in one Night

Last night it seemed like a sigh flew
Through the window, to kiss my ear
Words you spoke from far away
Carried on the winds so clear
A soft a tender “I Love You”
You held and I fell asleep;
It danced upon my mental like air
Through the night so warm and deep
A sweet treasure now within my mind
That sigh that has come to stay
Caressing lobes and mind heart to;
Keep me warm til we meet again

The Center 76’

The moon has risen
Venturing down this mean streets
The B – Boy’s break and
The popper pop

In the far distance
Hearing break beats pushed

A call to “The Center”

… The Dj played the beats
… The Mc told the story
… And the B-Boys danced

It’s a culture finding time to
Enjoy the best of a “Funk Era”
Down on these cobblestone street
Slipping under the ropes
To feel the sounds of that bass
In your face, and jamming to a
Groove that will always move you
Into a smooth dancing beat
I caught my groove,
I couldn’t stop
And it all just begun…

After The Sunset

Life is a wonderful mystery
It gives us moments of pain
But it always leads our destiny
And our hearts to step in,
It can lead us towards happiness.
I have long deem that somewhere
On this planet there exists someone special,
Someone inclined to touch my soul
And confirm my beliefs.
That true love does endure
I was that gentlemen that cast
Many messages into the sea of ebony-soul
Hoping that someone special would find it;
Finally in this lifetime I received a message
In the form of a kiss (smile)
I must say that this was a kiss
That can truly be missed
No words; under the sunset
The evening just moving though my soul
As we commence to lip-lock
Waiting and waiting for someone
To come up for air
Where am I?
Paused in a dimension that is filled
With holding hands; long walks and
Peace…

Autumn in October

You’re in my heart you should know
You grab my hand; I won’t let go
We may be weak but together were strong
Not a moment together is a waste of time
Our lips might touch once twice or one day at a time
I want the heat tight, against mine
When it happens, look in my eyes
You’ll fine a love struck fool with no lies
And that’s when you will finally know
Let’s make a promise a promise we’ll keep
I promise to hold and rock you to sleep
I promise to open all door for my sweet
Because nothing impossible when it comes to love
And as the skies remain blue, and leaves change
Another beautiful moment has passed by
Allowing kindred souls to breathe this
Autumn air

Sole Notes:
May two hearts dream of tenderness
A thousand miles away
May they live as long as they’re fit to live?
A thousand miles away
May there reunion be swift
And not thousand miles apart…
