This is just a FAN IMEEM PROFILE FOR DAVID ARCHULETA!!! I'm NOT the REAL DAVID ARCHULETA. Please understand
David Archuleta is a contestant on American Idol. He has been called “The Soul man from Utah,” the “Soul Midget King,” “Mini Motown Monster” and a singing prodigy. David’s natural “soulful” voice has captivated America through his performances on Jenny Jones and most recently as the junior singer grand prize winner of Star Search 2. David Archuleta was born in Miami, Florida on December 28th 1990 and spent the first six years of his life in various cities in florida. In February of 1997, David and his family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he lives with his parents, his brother and 3 sisters and 2 cats. He comes from a musical family where his mother sings both Spanish and English pop music, and his dad is a jazz trumpet player. David began singing at the age of 6 when he memorized several songs from the Les Miserables 10th anniversary concert, complete with English and Cockney accents. When he was 10 he participated in the Utah Talent Competition and although VERY reluctant to go perform in public, and feeling extremely nervous, he went onstage and sang “I Will Always Love You” and received a standing ovation. He has since been featured on Janny Jones, and the last several months have included performing 3 times on Star Search, being seen on CBS’ The Early Show. He is now in negotiations to record some new material and will be releasing a new CD soon. David Archuleta won the Junior Singer category of Star Search in 2003 when he was 12 years old and since then his fans has been building up. Now 17, he easily won the auditions in San Diego, CA.
David Archuleta also became one of the most recognizable figures on television in 2008, when his strong tenor vocals and boyish charm helped him earn a second-place finish in American Idol's seventh season. Although born in Miami, FL, Archuleta spent most of his childhood in Utah, where he lived with his parents (Jeff, a jazz trumpeter, and Lupe Maire, a Honduran salsa singer) and four siblings. Inspired by a Les Miserables production video, he began singing at age six, and his talent allowed the young vocalist to secure performances at the Utah Talent Competition, The Jenny Jones Show, and Star Search, where he was crowned Junior Vocal Champion in 2003. David Archuleta auditioned for American Idol in 2007, earning his first praise from the judging panel with a rendition of John Mayer's "Waiting on the World to Change." He advanced to the semifinals and remained with the show throughout its entire season, delivering strong, passionate performances of such pop ballads as "Another Day in Paradise," "Angels," and John Lennon's "Imagine." At 17 years old, Archuleta was the season's youngest contestant, and the constant presence of his father raised some questions about David's ability to make decisions on his own. His confident vocals did not invite much skepticism, however, and he ultimately emerged as the first runner-up to David Cook and inked a deal with 19 Recordings. ~ Andrew Leahey, All Music Guide
