"The whole song is him addressing a corpse."

Have you never heard of figurative language before? The song is clearly about how Republicans and Bush were ruining the country while everybody was letting it happen despite the fact many realized it. Americans were passive...get it? Keep in mind the time period this album came out and the fact that Emotive was also a very political album.

Close on the lyrics Medulla -

"Dead as dead can be", THE doctor tells me.

The whole song is him addressing a corpse.

What a great song to describe the feelings he was having when his mother passed away.

"Passive"

“Dead as dead can be,” my doctor tells me
But I just can’t believe him, ever the optimistic one
I’m sure of your ability to become my perfect enemy
Wake up and face me, don’t play dead cause maybe
Someday I will walk away and say, “You disappoint me,”
Maybe you’re better off this way

Leaning over you here, cold and catatonic
I catch a brief reflection of what you could and might have been
It's your right and your ability
To become…my perfect enemy…

Wake up (we'll catch you) and face me (come one now),
Don’t play dead (don't play dead)
Cause maybe (because maybe)
Someday I’ll (someday I'll) walk away and say, “You disappoint me,”
Maybe you’re better off this way

Maybe you’re better off this way
Maybe you’re better off this way
Maybe you’re better off this way
You’re better of this; you’re better off this;
Maybe you’re better off!

Wake up (can't you) and face me (come on now),
Don’t play dead (don't play dead)
Cause maybe (because maybe)
Someday I’ll (someday I'll) walk away and say, “You fucking disappoint me!”
Maybe you’re better off this way

Go ahead and play dead
I know that you can hear this
Go ahead and play dead
Why can't you turn and face me?
Why can't you turn and face me?
Why can't you turn and face me?
Why can't you turn and face me?
You fucking disappoint me!

Passive aggressive bullshit

Yeah!! Those dang Passive-Aggressivers! I was in a relationship with a guy who was basically like this.. Didn't care about much and let everything just happen without trying to affect the outcome. And sometimes, the results were horrible. He pissed me off. Either way, I was disappointed in him so much that I ended it. Basically, I walked away and said 'You fucking disapoint me, tool.'

well pop is a vague term. Pop stands for POPULAR music. APC isn't exactly "underground" if you think about it.
Beatles are considered pop.

But I see what you're saying.
In that case Metallica could be called Pop. So could Nirvana, and Korn and Lil' Wayne and anything else that was or is "popular."

So it shouldn't be called Pop anyways... >: (
wish people could vote on genres/styles just like they can rate the songs. it would make things more accurate (if only music nerds voted, of course.)
