Two Lovers before a war? I think that's greatly oversimplifying it. What I get is a man feeling a great transformation coming into the world, feeling tied to and a part of this reality (such a beautiful 'night'), but also knowing that it's going to be a knock-down, drag-out fight from those who still cling to the darkness of this age. Ultimately, he yearns for the moment when his heart and soul will fly free (now my feet won't touch the ground). *Spoiler: The last two releases are very much about the coming of the great king -- the King of kings.

I personally like it better without lyrics. This song always gave me an imagination of the world of the album from Viva la Vida. The words turned it into a love story of two lovers before a war.
