It's called production Hellraiser. The band wrote the song with a musical intro. The producer comes in and trims the unecessary fat off the song. Especially since Sweetness was a single, it is much easier to push a 3 and a half minute song to get airplay over a 4 and a half minute song.

I've heard two versions of "Sweetness" one is about a minute longer than the one posted here (4:20) and the singing starts after the music has begun. It also starts with "are you listening" instead of "if you're listening." Does anyone know where I can find the longer version or why there is a longer version?
