I agree, he ought to go back to his hardcore grinding roots. Instead of beats he should just go for that scray screaming sound that put him on the map.

Manson seems to be at a creative crossroad. This album proves that he is growing as an artist and he does take his craft seriously. He's pimping his sickest beats since Holy Wood, and a lot of that has do with hooking back up with Twiggy Ramirez. But this album also proves that he's run out of things to say, or at least anything original. I mean, he actually sounds bored on these tracks. He's got the beats but he's missing that trademark bravado. This album is a step in the right and wrong direction. I think he's trying to please his longtime fans, I mean after Eat Me, Drink Me he owes them. Eat Me, Drink Me was a great album, but it wasn't what a lot people expected. And now he's back on his B.S., pimping the same tired act for his fans sake, and he's obviously bored of it. I can't wait for Phantasmagoria. I think filmmaking is exactly the kind of creative outlet he needs right now, because music obviously isn't doing it for him...

For everyone who believes this album is a disappointment...
(now before you get all touchy)
you have to consider that although this is a 'softer' tone - you can't expect someone to always sound the SAME when they make music. It's like hearing a continuous beat in every song.. it gets quite annoying.

I think this CD is a tribute to the stuff he's gone through this past year and is showing his pain to you - just like in everyother album - yet the emotion displayed we know what it's about (ex. Dita, his new gf Evan Rachel Wood and.. I ran out of other examples but you know what I mean lol.)

Okay I love MM,but this isn't my favorite album by him.I mean the only songs that I like are Four Rusted Horses,Into the Fire,Arma-Goddamn-Motherfuckin-Geddon,and Wight Spider.Other then that the rest of this album is a bit of a disapointment to me.

manson in love sucks. tries to still be scary but love ruins that. he's not angry he's happy. it hard to write angry songs when your happy. he should start writing pop songs or just quit.
