Notice again

Uhm, backout po ang Nana Shi sa VaniTEA event, due to lack of time for practice (tight scheds), and all of us are heavily busy w/ our own activities. I think this is the 3rd (or 4th?) "backout"-ing of my bands. Gahh, buhay nga naman, so frustrating minsan...

And so...

I ain't feelin' well since pag-uwi ko kagabi~ I had a runny nose, sumasakit ang sinus ko, and sobrang sinisipon ako. Well, dahil sa kakapuyat ko 'to, and lumala siguro kakaisip ng mga problema, including the notice above (which is, kaninang umaga lang namin napag-usapan ni Dawny after chatting w/ mizukineige.) Eventually pina-cancel namin ang supposed practice namin ng 4-6pm.

For that, tinamad akong pumasok ng school, 'coz my nose is really irritated, lalo na kapag nasa aircon. X___X I've decided to drop by here (Tim's place) kaninang tanghali, to modify my FX-17 and FS01, and Aethyra practice (daw).

Ayun, nagawa naming ma-modify yung 2 pedals, wherein nakapag-tap kami ng switch for the on/off ng wah. Tapos parehong nilagyan ng mono jacks para patch cables ang connection ng dalawa (for more convenience). Supposedly ilalabas din sana 'yung volume/wah DPDT switch and mag-tap ng separate switch sa labas, but decided to leave it stack. Then ipapa-butas 'yung metal casing sa harap for the phone jack slot. So there we have it ! ;p~

Then went to the "temple of tone" again to fetch my pedals, but sir Jobet wasn't there, and he ain't yet finished the modding; tapos 7pm pa daw siya makakarating. So inuwi ko na lang si SDI-1 ko ('di ko na muna ipapa-mod).

Pagbalik dito, nagsimula na ang inuman nila Tim, along w/ Mondo and a couple of TeleTech officemates. Moments later, dumating na si Jun, and pagkauwi nila Mondo, saka dumating si Tan. Obviously, 'di na kami nakapagpraktis XD And because I'm kinda sick, sumuko ako agad sa pulang kabayo, at nakabawi ng tulog.

Scalarized GAS

Maghapon akong tulog, dahil sa matinding hangover. Albeit bein' online kaninang umaga, sobrang sakit talaga ng ulo ko, so ayun. Paggising ko, 4pm na. Then left agad para maka-visit ulit sa "temple of tone", and my GAS is attacking once again, but this time it ain't about second-hand pedals or modding pedals; but I wanted my two axes (Cliff & Syntyche) scalarized! >:E

FYI, this is how a scalarizer (both metalcore and crystal) looks like:

Before installation, I had my axes tested, to distinguish the tone before puttin' the scalarizers. I've realized na "tunog-ngongo" and "muddy", especially the RJ stock 7-string pickups. We played 'em only using the Fender amp's drive. And I had sir Anton (a.k.a. psychic_sushi) and sir Jobet (a.k.a. BAMF) suggest on what type of scalarizer should each axe utilize.

First, si Syntyche ang inoperahan. They suggested to put a metalcore one for it. Afterwards, tinesting namin, and heto ang naging difference:

• More clarity, especially the low A (yes, naka-Drop A 'yung 7th string) lalo na pag palm muting.
• Mas "umuugong" (or should I say "dumadagundong") when I tested on clean tone. Especially on the neck position -- parang jazz ang dating.
• Hindi na siya "ngongo" -- "punchy" ang tunog when soloing.
• Overall, mas galit and aggressive!

Next naman si Cliff naman... Had some difficulty, because I have to detach/install the strings, because the circuitry is beneath the pickguard. They suggested to have it crystal-scalarized, because it is EMG-powered (active pickups), and the pickup magnets are ceramic. And oh, during the process, we also "fix-cleaned" the pots, 'coz parang naga-grounded na siya (siguro dahil sa dumi... dunno), hence the minor annoying shortwire buzz. Then after installation, heto naman ang naging resulta:

• Dumagdag ang "attack", pero retained the twanginess.
• Mas litaw na ngayon ang clean tone.
• Sa terms ng twangy-ness, I think parang mas naging "twangy" siya, 'coz I tested some string-muting/funky riffs. Maganda at mas litaw ang "percussive tone" ng strings.
• Overall, mas naging "passive" ang tunog ng pickups -- much more real "Tele" to me! And dahil retained ang single coilness and dumagdag ang attack (and pagkauwi ng bahay, tested with my MetalMaster), versatile talaga for goin' vintage to hard rock to metal!

Pag-uwi, agad kong ginamit, at 'di ko mabitiwan itong mga gitara ko (until now), kahit medyo kinakalawang na ang mga kuwerdas nila. XD Deym, mas nakaka-in love talaga ang tone nila ngayon!

Recap ko lang: so far I've spent some 2.5K for a DS-1 BAKEMONO mod (bukas ko pa makukuha -- na-delay lang ng 1 araw) and 2 scalarizers for my axes. That's the cheapest price of a second-hand BOSS stompbox, but so far I'm very satisfied with what I've got. No problem shoving out cash for the tone bargain; worth every centavo, I tell ya!

And oh, mas magging mahal na itong mga scalarizers if ever mag-materialize na ang dealership & mass-shipping, and sealing the patent as well. Tiyak do-doble or ti-triple ang price, lalo na't the invention is gaining high popularity sa PhilMusic.

Acoustic Scalarizer

Oh, another thing that makes the "scalarizers" trend notorious: yet another cooked-up idea/mad-scientist conception, that is the Acoustic Scalarizer!

Lemme describe how amazing it is: I observed their guitar testing w/ a fellow forumite Danny (a.k.a. floyd_nikita) with the latter's Fernandes neck-through guitar. Then sir Jobet just placed the scalarizer in contact w/ the head, and voila -- mas lumitaw ang riffs, kumapal ang tunog (as in parang dumagdag ang "mass" ng body)! Tapos nung tinanggal, balik ulit sa dati -- parang nagka-tone loss, I tell you. Matindi pa is, kahit saan niya dinikit 'yung scalarizer, lumalabas 'yung distinct effect niya, and at times nahuhuli namin na palapit pa lang sa surface, umeepekto na.

Oh, sinubukan din naming idikit sa speaker ng amplifier, at gumagana pa rin 'yung tone enhancement! O___O And 'di talaga kami makapaniwala, maski nakapikit nalalaman namin na nakadikit o hindi. Grabe ang significance nung scalarizer. I'm lucky to be one of the early witnesses of the demo of such invention!

Iba talaga ang Filipino ingenuity, yebah! Sana marami pang ganyang Pinoy, noh?

Quiz-filled School Blues

Another school day, full of quizzes! Two of my subjects had major quizzes, but I found 'em really easy. I managed to finish 'em off within few minutes, then spent some time on a nearby internet shop during the looooong break (3pm to 7pm, I tell ya.) I managed to leave the campus at an early 8pm; I even rushed myself to Kolumn Bar as fast as I could; we should play as soon as possible, for our drummer needs to go to work afterwards.

Then, the "Triple T" gig...

As I arrived, the show wasn't starting yet; the equips were still sound-checked, and 3 of Do'ahou members were already there~ (Adrian arrived half an hour later.) The crowd wasn't that jam-packed nor very few -- just enough, I guess. And most of 'em are the new breed S.O.N. members.

Some J-music peeps like minireia (w/ Ambet) and kirby_agudelo were also there not only just to watch, but also conducted some serious meeting for their planned production gig (along w/ hydee_takarai), which stated to be held on March 3.

We only performed three songs -- did "Parting Time" again as our OPM-required song. Me and mike5150 were tipsy then ('coz of the booze), and we had some minor miscues~ (Oh well, errors are a constant in our music! XD) But hey, we enjoyed our performance -- way better than our OS Fusion stint. At the same time, we had our "rusty surfaces lubricated"! XD (in Filipino: Tanggal ang kalawang namin!)

The other bands rocked as well; coincibens played drums for one band, playin' Up Dharma Down and Coheed and Cambria covers. Sacramento did their heavy thing -- again, JV's guitar sound shaked the whole place -- even our chests felt the tremors! Virus Artist rocked as usual~ (reminds me of Rico Blanco.)

Emphasis to the word of the night: TOMA

The gig lived up to its name, literally. Me and mike5150 boozed up way before the show starts; add to the fact that we were lacking sleep, so we were soon tipsy (and onstage)! After our set, we ordered buckets of Colt 45's -- it was all rainin' beer, I tell ya!

I was really dizzy on the way home w/ mike5150 and Marlon; the speeding bus ride and the winds made me even dizzier, almost barfed off. In no time I slept, and as I woke up, the bus was already traveling at Sapang Palay. Yeah, I traveled beyond Fairview and went off the bus way north! (Sapang Palay -- away from civilization indeed...) XD

Then managed to made it home around 3am, and until now my head still hurts like smashin' sledgehammers. I wish we would have more booze-full gigs in the future, hahahah! ;p

Still awake, with Generoso beside~ (nyehehe) I think kaya ko na siyang ubusin. Had a worthless day kanina...

School blues muna: ang kaisa-isang subject ko for the day, ay nagpa-surprise quiz ang malupit na prof namin. And oh, remember na nung last week 'di ako pumasok sa school (since Wednesday) dahil nga sa minor financial crisis. So ayun, walang kalaman-laman ang utak ko at sumabak na ako sa unang giyera quiz namin. Result: bokya. ~___~! Well ayus lang, maski 'yung mga kaklase ko natuyo rin ang utak, at walang naisagot din. (Nagsi-aral na silang lahat ah, partida... XD)

Then nagpunta ng Raon, pero out of stock yung dapat kong bibilhin. ~___~! So I decided to go food trip around -- had some grilled hotdog sandwich malapit sa Quiapo, some delicious (and very cheap price) tapsilog near Sapang Palay bus terminal sa Doroteo Jose -- sobrang stuffed ako, as in! Then biyahe na lang pauwi, just like an ordinary, silly day. =___=

Maagang nakarating ng bahay, at magdamag lang naggigitara. Damn, kinakalawang talaga ang mga kamay ko... Kailangan mag-upgrade ng mga nalalamang scales... Oh, at sisipra pa ako ng mga popondohin para sa Nana Shi sa VaniTEA.

Pahabols na notice: Hindi matutuloy ang Aethyra for tomorrow's gig (Tugtog Tambay Toma), dahil hindi nagpaparamdam 'yung bahista namin~ (Gahhh!) Another Visit to the Temple of Tone

Dahil wala akong pasok, nagpa-petiks lang muna sa bahay, bago pumunta sa Pimp Hive (dala ang aking malinis at fresh na DS-1). Naidala ko rin si SDI-1 ko, dahil baka may maidadagdag pang mods sa kanya.

Pagkadating ko doon, naabutan ko si sir Jobet (a.k.a. BAMF) na nagyoyosi break -- medyo nahihirapan sa wiring ng inaayos niyang Ibanez ng isang customer niya (na nagja-jamming sa studio). So nai-"admit" ko na sa "klinika" ang mga pedals ko. XD

At dahil 'di pa rin ma-figure out ang wirings (dahil mali ang na-print na diagram -- for Seymour Duncan STK/Humbuckers 5-way), nag-decide ang customer na mag-rent sa cafe and print the needed diagram; at the same time, sinabi ni sir Jobet na sa Sabado na 'ko bumalik for the BAKEMONO mod. Sinamahan ko na 'yung Ibanez customer (dahil 'di nya kabisado ang place, taga-Alabang pa siya.)

Then pagbalik, naki-jamming sessions na rin ako, at tinesting ang maraming pedals (mostly puro 'dirt' pedals) na modded... Grabe, imagine parang TOY KINGDOM na pipili lang ng laruan at tetestingin, LOL~ Ayun, gitara/palo, then dumating na rin si sir Anton (a.k.a. psychic_sushi).

May natutunan din akong bago from the genius "mad scientists": the CRYSTALCORE, and METALCORE scalarizers. That night the Ibby customer had his H-S-H (2 The Breed DiMarzio's and 1 RG Prestige stack middle single coil) axe crystal-scalarized, while the other (Hot-rails and a single-coil neck, Mustang style guit) had his one double-metalcored.

Basically, they are some small electronic device that affects the tonality of the guitar; The Ibby customer was very satisfied w/ his axe Scalarized -- his notes were much more clear, he said (clean tone pa lang 'yun men); mas natuwa nung nag-overdrive na straight from the ampli. 'Yung isa naman, mas naging "grunge" ang tunog ng single coils niya -- very fit sa tugtugan na gusto niya. Pero clean tone pa lang at lakasan ang strum, parang naka-overdrive na! Grabe din 'yung Metalcore!

And I was amazed when sir Anton brought along his EMG-equipped Fender Tele that was Scalarized, and played his chops. The axe sounded more "huge" and "fatter" -- the tone he wanted, because basically he is a jazz player. But at the same time, he can nail the acoustic sound with it! Then I became interested on doin' the same w/ Syntyche... Imagine the RJ stack pickups go wilder! O___O

Then sir Anton told me to give it a shot. Sir BAMF then showed me his guitar (na na-testing din kanina habang jam), and told me the pickups were the cheap JB Music humbuckers worth 300 pesos each, and he just scalarized them. Grabe, compared naman kung bibili ng mga mamahaling 5K-worth na branded pickups like Seymour Duncan or DiMarzio. So sa Biyernes baka dalhin ko din si Cliff! (Gaah, I'll be bringin' 2 axes -- para na naman akong naglayas nito...)

And I'll be back there on Friday night (to claim my pedals), so sa mga gustong sumama at makatikim ng free demo ng mga toys doon, sama kayo sa 'kin sa Biyernes! XD (For more details about the latest experiments inside what they call the "Temple of Tone", click here.)

Right now I'm tasting this Generoso brandy I bought kahapon~ Well, ayon sa panlasa ko: mas mainit (ma-guhit) siya compared sa Gran Matador, pero mas matapang sa kanya si Emperador. XD Maganda ang amoy niya kesa sa Emperador. Pero parang ala pa akong amats (halfway na ako so far), siguro dahil mabagal ako shumat... Pero mas mabilis nakaka-init kesa sa Gran Matador. Overall, magandang choice kung tight sa budget (mas mura ang presyo nito compared sa GranMa/Empoy nung nabili ko); pero personal favorite (at ang meter indicator) ang GranMa.

Starting the day w/ some biyahe blues

Went to Raon to find some items, but only bought a PSone controller for my pamangkins; then went to SM Manila Lazer to buy some hard-to-find XXL-like bass pot knobs, and strat-type jack plate.

Afterwards, I met up w/ Luciel to give him some items, and talk over some band matters. We're kinda worried about the status of some of our bandmates -- ni hindi nagpaparamdam kasi sa e-mail; nagpapaka-busy talaga sa work...

Tapos nun ay nagtungo naman ako sa place ni Sir Anton (a.k.a. psychic_sushi) and balak ko nang iwanan yung dala kong pedal; but yung LM-2 ang nadala ko. (Malas me~ XD) Balik ako mamaya para dalhin ko ang DS-1 ko, and finally have that Sushi-mod! /drool

Had a normal day lang sa school. Ganun pa rin -- boring ang mga classmates ko~ Only Wednesdays & Saturdays ang "significant" school days ko... After school, done my groceries, and bought one different long neck -- mukhang dapat kong tikman 'to...

I'm kinda curious because mas mura ito kaysa sa Emperador and Gran Matador... I gotta find out how does it tastes like~ ;p

And pag-uwi, spent some time w/ my pet Stripe. Kulitan as usual, hehe~

Best friend ko talaga 'to; nakaka-release ng stress makipag-harutan~ XD Hindi siya nang-iiwan tulad ng iba, and hindi PSYCHO.

Practice, sa wakas

Kagabi, nag-practice kami Do'ahou at last -- 1st practice of the year, and since November pa (nung HeroTV event 'ata kami huling nakatugtog magkakasama). Same ol' time pa rin (late ng gabi ulit), and tanggal-kalawang na naman kami, hehehe... Nakaka-miss din sa Millennium, kung saan andun ang lahat (bilyaran, videoke, internet rental, paluto ng pancit, alak... XD) So far, 'di naman nangalawang; and review lang nung mga dati nang na-pondo... Mabuti na rin at 'yung mga gigs namin e required lang ng 3 songs, so sa linisan/kapit ng tugtog ng band lang ang aalalahanin namin~

And sa Jan 25 gig, may possibility na mag-backout ang Aethyra, dahil may sakit parin daw ang drummer naming si Tan. x___x

Birthday pahabol

Belated Happy Birthday po! kay Julius!

First thing na ginawa ko kahapon: dumaan ako sa house ng ate ko (for some matters), and spent time w/ her kids (my pamangkins). Magdamag kami naglaro ng PSone 'til 3pm~

Tapos nagtugo na ako ng SM Megamall para sa meeting ni minireia regarding doon sa FF Gathering: The Reunion gig. Naabutan kong nagbi-briefing na along w/ kirby_agudelo, and the Himitsu Heiki "big three" (hehe). Naging maganda naman ang meeting -- napabili pa kami ni Julius ng isang pitsel na "gintong beer" sa foodcourt dahil sisitahin pa kami nung epal na guard~ XD Tapos dumating din si uchihayukiko, 'yung representatives nung ibang bands (pati ang anay), si Maku, at marami pang iba... Around past 6pm na kami nag-decide na umuwi.

Then on the way home, nagutom na talaga kami ni pedz, at kumain kami sandali sa McDo Fairview Mall/Caltex; kwentuhan blues din ng matagal... We came up w/ the word for the moment: "Talkies" (referring to people around that only do the talks w/o having the claims~) Pwede na pala sila gumawa ng banda na puro talkies, no? XD

Currently I'm soundtrippin', dahil nakumpleto ko na rin (sa wakas) ang Gazette discog.

Hitchin' a Ride

Kanina pag-alis ng bahay, edi parang normal na araw lang kung saan maghihintay ng "transfer" jeep sa village namin... So habang naka-abang ako, bigla akong tinawag ng mag-asawang owner ng tindahan malapit sa 'min na sina Mang Roel & Aling Heidi (dun kami kasi lagi bumibili ng LPG), and dala nila 'yung sasakyan nila -- and luckily pina-hitch nila ako. May lakad din sila, sa may Proj. 7 (BayanTel Roosevelt). Kahit papaano napa-menos ako sa gastos at oras (traffic sa Bayan).

Ayun, kwentuhan blues 'din w/ them; nalaman kong taga-La Loma pala sila dati (malapit sa "former home" ko) -- and pamangkin pala ni Aling Heidi 'yung isang ka-batch ko noon sa LSQC! Small world indeed. XD

At maaga ako nakarating sa banko (asikaso ng financial issues)... At dahil may time pa ako, nakapag-biyahe trip pa ako sandali sa Malinta nung pauwi, at heto maaga nakarating ng bahay.

Just finished some chores around the house; magdamag lang ako nandito sa bahay, at lumuwas sa kamag-anak 'yung katiwala namin. It's my second consecutive day na hindi nakapasok ng school, dahil tinitipid ko na naman 'yung budget namin ('di na naman kami kinokontak ng dad namin...) Maybe later mage-email na ako agad sa kanila, dahil sobrang gipit na din 'yung ate ko.

Heto, telenovela marathon muna (Atlantika, Sana Maulit Muli, Princess Hours...) At ngayon pala 'yung episode na madi-disgrasya si Poknat. XD LOL~

Kailangan ko pang mag-prepare ng mga popondohin para sa mga upcoming gigs... Hanggang ngayon 'di pa kami nakakapag-practice.

Hahah, since yesterday (due to boredom), I've became hooked again into wrestling -- known as sports entertainment. XD It has been a few months since I was last updated with the happenings. (I miss my good ol' high school days wherein wrestling is the talk-of-the-town around campus.) And at the same time, I'm becoming hooked again w/ my wrestling gaming, creating the current wrestlers into the old-school PSone game~ (LOL!)

As I was browsin' the net for some very hard-to-find WWFSD2 create-a-wrestlers, I managed to find again this site (lotsa cool CAWs!); and there was a section called "The Bret Hart Screw Job".

Now I (finally) knew the real story on how [ironically] the heavyweight champion was bein' screwed by the owner himself, in his very last match of his career, in his hometown (Canada). Off all the things. O___O When I was a kid, I watched that delayed telecast over IBC 13, wherein Shawn Michaels won the title -- and thought how "sore loser" Bret was; I mean, "It's just a mere title belt, he can fight again and win it back"... But all along, it was a major blow to his career as a successful wrestler doin; his job fair and square. ~___~

Truly, Bret is "the best there was, is, and ever will be".

On the other hand, as I was browsin' for wrestling updates, I found a cool site about the very worst of sports entertainment: WrestleCrap.com. XD There are "inductions" made (even the so-called Gooker Arawd) for the meanest, funniest and most irritating wrestling gimmicks/PPV happenings of all time (mostly on WWF).

Some trivia here of the funniest things that happened in sports enentertainment:

• Big Show's Dad Dies: The Big Bossman ruins the Big Show's daddy's funeral by stealing his casket. You can't get much more evil than that.
• Billy & Chuck Wedding: Weddings are always big ratings draws - just imagine how huge a GAY wedding could be!
• The Patterson-Brisco Evening Gown Match: Couldn't these two have done this in their hotel room instead of on a PPV that people paid to see?
• Gobbeldy Gooker: The most popular request at WrestleCrap, and with good reason: a turkey man hatches from an egg that has been carted to WWF events for months. Quite possibly the worst payoff to an angle in the history of pro wrestling.
• Hawk Commits Suicide: Road Warrior Hawk becomes a drug addict thanks to LOD newcomer Puke. Hawk decides that life just ain't worth living and climbs the Titantron to throw himself off. Yikes.
• The Jynx Brothers: You may not know this, but before they became famous, Matt and Jeff Hardy were jobbers dressed like Japanese puppets. Yep.
• Papa Shango: Voodoo master who hexed Gene Okerlund and caused Ultimate Warrior to vomit on WWF TV. [Papa Shango = The Godfather.]
• Phantasio: Magician wrestler whose finisher was to remove his opponent's underwear. Seriously.
• Undertaker Resurrection: During a casket match at Royal Rumble 94, the evil Yokozuna stuffs the Undertaker in a coffin with the help of 43 men. He would later be reborn, however, and float up to heaven in a scene that everyone watching would like to forget.
• The Val Venis Castration: Evil Wally Yamaguchi decides to deal with his wife's infidelity the old fashioned way: by chopping off the weiner of her porn star boyfriend!

• Black Scorpion: Evil wrestling magician who tortured Sting with mystical magic powers, like the ability to turn a man into a tiger. It was all worth it for his final appearance, however, when he landed in a space ship. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the ultimate in stupidity, this scores 178.
• Finger Poke Title Change: Kevin Nash and Hulk Hogan swerve everyone by swapping the WCW title in a bogus match that infuriated everyone who saw it. One of the top five causes of WCW's downfall.
• Graveyard Match: The KISS Demon and Vampiro battle through the darkness of a cemetery, hitting each other with tree branches and plaster tombstones.
• Jay Leno, Pro Wrestler: Yes, THAT Jay Leno, who teamed with DDP to put the hurting on Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff in one of the worst matches of all time.
• Dusty Rhodes' Gorilla Match: Dusty takes getting funky like a monkey too far by teaming with a guy in a gorilla suit. And then a woman in a gorilla suit. It was BANANAS, I TELLS YA!
• Robocop: The Future of Law Enforcement clanks down to the ring to save Sting from the clutches of the evil Four Horsemen. [Yes, ROBOCOP interfered in a WCW match!]

• In Your House: Horrific WWF videogame in which the Undertaker hurled ghosts at his hapless opponent.
• If They Only Knew: Chyna's biography, in which she reveals that she hates pretty much everyone on the entire planet earth.
• WrestleMania: The Album: Musical mess that features Bret Hart singing a love song while Randy Savage begins his rapping career by reciting the order of the solar system. [Randy Savage a.k.a. "Macho Man"]
• Be a Man: Randy Savage raps again, this time forgoing a listing of the planets of the solar system and instead dissin' Hulk Hogan old skool.

Really funny facts, haha! But after I checked the inductions, I became curious when I saw the John Tenta tribute section... (There were lotsa inductions made to him due to his numerous worst gimmicks) I presumed that it might be their favorite "humiliated" wrestler; but I was wrong -- it is indeed a tribute -- honoring the deceased wrestler most known as Earthquake (a half of The Natural Disasters tag team during the early 90's).

Tanghali na akong nagising kanina, at late ng 45 minutes umalis ng bahay; buti na lang sa Bagong silang/Fairview ako bumyahe para mabilis -- at ayun, late lang ako ng 15 minutes para sa unang subject -- Advanced Maths w/ Numerical Methods (EADMATH) -- 1pm to 3pm. Same familiar classmates ko noong Differential Equations ang kasama doon, pati 'yung prof namin (si Engr. Manalo); pero sadly 'di ko kaklase doon si Anne~ (ibang section yata siya...)

Then nag-stay ako sa house ng ate ko from 3:30 to 6pm, since 7-9pm pa ang sunod kong class -- Eng'g Economy w/ Accounting (ENGECOA). (Ayokong gumastos kaka-internet sa U-Belt!) Natulog din, since puyat nga ako~ (hehe) And paggising ko, nakauwi yung kambals kaling school nila. At ayaw pa nila akong paalisin sa bahay~ XD

Mga higher years ang kasabayan ko naman sa ENGECOA, karamihan mga taga-ECE... (Parang nung time na tinake-up ko 'yung Philippine Constitution...) Pero hah, mukhang maning-mani na 'tong subject na 'to; as my other classmate said, perfect niya daw ang quizzes niya nung na-take niya 'to dati... Basta, lahat ng mga yan e ipapasa ko, as in... Ilista mo na! XD

Surprise "band meeting"

Kaninang hapon, tinawagan ako ni Tim, at biglaang sinabing may practice daw kami, at pumunta na daw ako agad sa kanila... So syempre naghanda na rin ako, 8pm ako nakaalis ng bahay (nanood pa kasi ako ng WWE SmackDown sa TV eh! ;p), follow-up text pa si Jun na "mag-inuman daw kami". Pumunta pa ako muna ng SM Fairview for another GAS attack -- binili ko na agad 'yung TKL padded guitar case (nylon classical size) for 1K+ lang! (Murang-mura talaga!) Then nagpunta din ng ACE Hardware to buy some phone jacks. Luckily, nakita ko ulit doon si Apple~ (Yay, nabuo niya ang araw ko! XD)

Pagdating sa Aethyra hideout, nadatnan ko sila Allan at Jun doon (wala ang tambolero naming si Tan -- galing 'ata sa inuman the night before), nagre-review ng bagong compo na ginawa ng una. Later on, ayun nag-inuman na kami, sabay soundtrip ng mga old compositions sa dati nilang banda (Cloudscape). Actually kaunti lang ininom namin, then maaga rin natapos ang inom, at balak pa naming bumili pa, pero natulog na ang daddy bahista. XD

Semi-Emohang Inuman

Last night nag-inuman kami kila Dhel. Supposedly, mga 7pm ang start ng inuman, kasama 'yung New Era tropapips na sina Ceres, Chyx; but later on, Na-inform kami ni Dhel, na mga 12 midnight pa daw sila makakapunta dahil nasa gig pa sila (sa Eastwood daw)... So pagdating ko doon ng past 12, wala pa rin sila, papunta na daw; pero later on nasabi nina Ceres na malabo na sila makasama. Ayun, medyo disappoined rin, hinanda pa naman 'yung bahay (as in general cleaning talaga); inubos na lang naming apat w/ Vahn & Aie (hayskul tropa nila na kapangalan ng bassist nila); binalak din naming kumuha ng "other guests" at angkas sa motor ni Aie (hehe), pero walang nakuha. ;p And one more thing: tinext ko si Chyx (mga 2am na yata) na sana makasunod sila kahit late na -- at ang reply ba naman: "Cno to?" O___O

Medyo bitin ang inuman (syempre), pero inantok na rin kami agad.

Around 11am na ako nagising, at dumerecho na 'ko ng Raon to find some stuffs; pero unfortunately, wala 'yung hinahanap ko... Then dumerecho na ako ng school.

Strength of Materials (ESTREMA) ang pinasukan ko for today -- Wed/Sat 'yun -- at 'yung same prof (si Engr. Ortega na naman) ang magtuturo... Well, this time, halos lahat ng kaklase ko doon ay ECE majors, and some second timers too (may third pa nga e), so expect ko na mas "magaan" ang difficulty level nito this time around.

Lalo kong kakaririn talaga 'tong subject, dahil dun sa isang ECE classmate kong maangas. (Kalbo naman, sarap konyatin! XD) Feeling magaling na ewan, unang pasok ko pa lang inangasan na ako agad. Dudurugin ko talaga 'yung kutong lupang iyon, makikita niya...

Then after school, nagtungo na ako sa house ng ate ko, dahil dumating na pala ang "balikbayan"-size boxes (dalawa) padala ng parents ko. (Yung isa kong pamangkin ang nagtext, LOL.) Ayun, expected na heavy loads of grocery goods, bags and apparel ang laman, so hinatid na ako ng ate ko late night na, at sumama yung kambals.

Ayun, na-miss na rin nila si Stripe; at nakita ng kambals yung kwarto ko -- 'di nila mabitiwan itong CASIO mini keyboards, at pinaglalaruan nila magdamag. Then sinamahan ko sila pabalik hanggang Nova Bayan (dahil 'di pa nila kabisado papunta/pauwi galing sa 'min.)

»» Hayyy, wala masyadong ginawa sa bahay kundi maglaro ng PSone emulator~ ;p I've been hooked ulit sa WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role wrestling game. Wala lang, madali na kasi akong makuntento sa mga PSone games ko e, tutal napakaraming nakatambak sa drawer ko~ (next time I'll post pics of my collection.)

Yesterday's Aethyra gig

Past 7pm ako nakaalis ng bahay, dahil andami ko pang ginawa (linis ng kwarto, palit ng guitar strings...) and almost 8pm na ako nakarating sa place ni Tim... Nagpraktis pa kami minutes later after dumating ni Allan; then rush na kami agad sa Wilfredo's.

Luckily, lagpas quota 'yung nayaya naming guests... Mga kakilala ni Jun, si Ellen, Mondo (both S.O.N. orgmates) tsaka si Julius (Yay!) Hinihintay na kami ng manager naming si Gillian doon.

Then doon namin nalaman na moments after nya kami tinext (while we were practicing), nawala 'yung cellphone niya, dahil hinoldap yung sinasakyan nilang jeep -- sa may Bernardino area daw... Worse, nasaktan siya nung mga holdaper -- gusto sana kunin ni Gillian yung SIM card niya, pero siniko siya sa balikat~ O___O Feel namin yung trauma niya habang kinukuwento 'yung nangyari.

Second band kami sa lineup (ayus na!), at medyo maraming tao that time. Naging maganda naman ang perf namin, though maraming sabits na naman ako as usual~ (kulang kasi sa practice, hehe!) Overall, mas malufet compared nung last gig namin sa Wilfredo's.

Funny thing na nangyari din nung gabing 'yun: after naming tumugtug, 'yung drummer nung next band after namin, gustong manghiram ng cymbals kay Tan (paano, kinis-Kiwi-sa-kintab na Planet Z cymbals set ang dala!) Ang kuwento pa ni Tim, bumanat 'yung emokid drummer ng maangas sa audience: "Wala bang magpapahiram diyan ng cymbals?" Then walang pumansin~ ;p Moments later, lumapit sa drummer namin 'yung gitarista nila at politely nanghiram ng crash cymbal; ang ginawa ni Tan, pinahiram 'yung pipitsuging cymbal na tunog-kaldero! (Dinala niya talaga dahil predict na niyang may manghihiram sa kanya~) Kaya maski nasa labas ng bar, dinig na dinig yung crappy no-sustain cymbal na yun! XD

Afterwards, maaga nang umuwi sina Allan, Ellen and her friends, tapos sinamahan ko rin si Gillian pasakay ng jeep papuntang opis... Traumatized pa rin, naiwan niya yung jacket at bag niya~ Then nag-death metal shawarma pa kami ni Julius sa Lagro loob. solbaks talaga after a hard day's work! XD~ Mga 1am na ako nakauwi.

Tinamad akong pumasok sa 1st day ng trimester, and instead, nag-decide akong pumunta kila Tim para sa DOD FX-17 modification sana; before that, bumili pa ako ng onting stuffs sa SM Fairview & Robinson's Fairview. And sa sabado na namin siguro sisimulan ang pagmo-modify, dahil paplanuhin muna 'yung mga gagawing modifications at enclosures; tsaka kulang sa tulog si Tim (galing call center), so ayun, inuwi ko muna itong mga materyales. Kaunting materyales pa ang kailangan ko naman for the custom "sampler" pedal na pinaplano ko: stereo phone jack (for auxillary input pang-record), voltage divider (convert 9V input to 1.5V), perfboard... [EDIT] isang LED na rin kaya, hehehe... Excited na 'ko dito sa unang electronics DIY project ko, woohoo!

Enrollment blues

Finally, naka-enrol na rin ako! Swerte at mabilis 'yung enrollment procedures kahapon (tsaka piyesta sa Quiapo -- no classes sa Fastest Earning University! XD)

Pero hindi ring ganung kadali; bago pa ako makapag-enroll e 'di ako agad nakapag-login for subject enlistments, at sinabing may offense pa daw ako. So kinailangan ko pang pumunta ng Disciplinary Office (D.O.), at nahalungkat pa 'yung dating offense ko nung last school year pa~ (na-confiscate kasi yung enrollment resibo ko dati dahil pumasok ako ng walang ID...) mabuti naman at verbal warning lang ang binigay sa akin.

Afterwards nun e kinuha ko 'yung grades ko -- luckily pumasa ako sa 3 subjects na dehado ako! Pero unfortunately bagsak ako sa ESTREMA (sabi na nga ba...) Ang resulta: 9 units lang ang na-enrol ko, dahil walang opened subjects available (naubos na.) ang maganda naman nito, full payment ang naibayad ko, para shempre may discount... (No maths: 13,070 pesos originally, e may discount, so 12K+ lang tuition ko, yay!) Anyways, todo career ko na 'tong Strength, and next trimester tiyak overload na 'ko (dahil 5 prerequisite subjects ang magbubukas!)

Naaadik na talaga sila sa PSone, at Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter naman ang laging nilalaro; kundi, Tekken 3 naman. Nawili talaga sa fighting games. ;p Bilhan ko nga sila ng isa pang controller...

Umalis na ako ng 8pm, at nakontak ko pa si sir Jobet (a.k.a. BAMF) dahil bibili ako ng 3PDT metal foot switches (2 pcs) sa kanya... (FYI: 600 pesos ang isa nun, napaka-rare niya kasi, at dahil sa shipping costs.) So pinapunta niya ako sa "secret laboratory" (the new modding grounds) nila nina sir Anton (a.k.a. psychic_sushi) ... Napamangha ako sa mga pedals na nandoon; pinakita nila sa 'kin yung mga masterpieces nila, lalo na 'yung "wasabi" TS7 mod, tsaka yung BAKEMONO modded DS-1 na andaming knobs & toggles... Nakaka-tempt magpa-mod ng DS-1! AT ayun, napabili pa ako ng isa pang DPDT metal foot switch (worth 300).

Then pinapunta nila ako sa recording studio nila, at pinatugtug demo 'yung mga pedals. First time kong narinig yung SD-2 (Dual Overdrive), at ang lupet ng crunch/lead tones niya. Tapos si BAKEMONO naman; one word ang masasabi ko... este two words: POTA ANLOFET! Napaka-versatile niya! Nag-iba na 'yung character nung pedal, at andaming tones na pwedeng gawin. Soft & Hard clipped na siya -- in short, Hard Disto/Warm Overdrive na ang modes niya! O___O Last na 'yung modded TS7 -- matindi yung hot mode niya, parang tube ampli talaga... at smoother siya kesa sa TS9-mode BAKEMONO.

Nakaka-elibs talaga, as in... Na-suppress na 'yung GAS ko for other pedals; now I'm convinced na dapat ko nang ipa-mod itong DS-1 ko!

Happenings kahapon

Late after lunch na ako nakaalis kila Tim kakanood ng YouTube videos. (naka-WiFi na kasi sila!) From Fairview, sa Raon ako nagtungo -- and GASsed some important stuffs para sa pinaplano kong DIY gadgets (naks!) like LEDs, switches and 1K-worth mp3 player (I got a 256MB one, pero 128MB ang nakasulat sa label -- it's a steal! XD) Then nung gabi, sa SM Fairview ako nagtungo for more items like metal/glass enclosures... I'm ready for doin' this mini hobby! (sort of an experiment na rin...) Maybe sa Wednesday practice namin ko sisimulan~ (dahil iniwan ko doon kila Tim yung DOD FX-17 ko -- subject for modifications.)

On the way home, andami kong naiisip na compo -- as in heavy speedy stuffs (dahil harurot jeep na naman ang nasakyan ko). XD Pero ewan ko ba, medyo iba ang naging accomplishment ko; paano, si Valenti ang kinalikot ko imbes na electric guitars. Samahan ko pa ng kapapanood ng debut ng isang teledrama sa TV (Sana Maulit Muli. Yeah, si Kim Chiu po). Tapos 'yung isang crush friend ko, nag-eemote/may "hemorrhage" ang puso. O___O Tamang inspired ako nitong madaling araw, at heto ang [unfinished] raw compo na nagawa ko:

Balak kong lagyan ng malarong-hi-hats na drum lines ito, tapos electric guitars (heavy overdriven sound siguro) sa refrain & chorus... Medyo corny/cheesy lyrics yung nailagay ko, so tinapon ko agad e -- subject to better figures of speech and clever thinking pa yung words... Anyways, dahil medyo emo nga ang atmosphere (at medyo badtrip dahil mukhang predictable ang mangyayari dun sa telenovela kakaisip kay Kim Chiu), nagrecord ako ng baklang love song. I gotta get a better microphone. My voice really sucks~! Oh, and a better sound card for my PC as well...
