These guys still play with staccato and whip, even after thirty-eight years. I saw them live in richardson Texas, at the Wildflower festival. They outplayed Loverboy and had tight furious rhythmic cohesion. Good show, guys. They even signed my Eight-track tape. The lead singer Doug Fieger, looked younger than expected and talked music with me for about six minutes. This one has curled steel and sex appeal. Feels like the first time, every time. They are consummate musicians. The crowd was jumpin and weaving in time to the bass line. Its like seeing a conditioned athlete at the plate, you always expect a line drive. And with The Knack, you get it. Professional, and courteous, with powerful finesse. Partytime in the basement, with your friends, then a rollicking mud fight. Its got the beat. Sorry Belinda C. and the GoGos. Fast and fanatic, with just the right snap. Totally together.
