Chaka Khan In 'The Color Purple' (2008)
Chaka Khan is planning to join the musical production of “The Color Purple” in January as Sofia, the strong-willed character portrayed by Oprah Winfrey in the film version. Playing opposite her will be the gospel and R&B singer BeBe Winans as Harpo, Sofia’s husband. Both are to join the cast at the Broadway Theater on Jan. 9. Starting on Dec. 19, LaKisha Jones, an “American Idol” finalist this year, will play the church soloist singing the show’s opening number. Chaka Khan!!! I love your music! I also love your music with Rufus. Hopefully you all can do a new album or something together. But you've proven to hold your own for 30 years and you're still doing the damn thing. I love you Chaka!
