Hehehe...I'm scared that people would think I'm being a wiseguy, giving smartypants answers:P...after all, it's just my personal opinion, based on my own experience and observations...I might correct my opinion, any time I see new facts and I add them to it, but after all, my opinion on BOTH, men and women, has sunk very low...
But over the last 2 years, I wasted too much time to try to reason with such girls like the one you describe, and it's as useful as talking to a brick wall...I wrote maybe about 400 pages of MS Word on emails to her and there are numerous phone calls(over a distance of 9000miles), and what for? For nothing! She dumped me more or less because her own assumptions about me made her change her mind about me...and the only thing I regret now is, that I ever wasted so much precious time on her and that I missed out so many flirts and chances FOR her...while she took every chance she got.
So if you're in a relationship before and now you're single again, I'd suggest that you make yourself "expensive"...by which I mean, don't jump into any relationships too easily(I don't know if you're in danger of that?) and just be a single...cos being alone might not be that swell, but being with the wrong persons, who make u sick or who're totally childish and all isn't really better, is it?

That's how girls are...they always claim that THEY are superior, that THEY are mature and that THEY are fair...but they aren't...I don't say that guys are better(most guys are just the same, they're plain stupid), but I think you can't reason with most of the girls you'll meet in your life...they just LOVE to assume things...if they have to choose between assumptions/rumours or the truth, the truth is never their choice...maybe assumptions and rumours are just more fun? I'd kick such people out of my life and try to get my revenge on them before, don't waste your time or any feeling for such ignorant stupid people, it's just a waste of time and energy and you sink on their shallow level.
