Deathbot is the alt-country project of singer songwriters R. Mansfeld and Joseph James, the former frontmen for New York's punk/nerd rap group Turbulence & Calibrate and the California americana band, Big Wheels. With a revolving cast of friends from San Francisco and LA, Deathbot has been making songs in the mix and vein of the indie, americana, and alt-country bands they grew up listening to. i'm no music expert, but it's fair enough to say there's something going on here. I love how the sound seems like a throwback to the classic rock era. The vocals are quirky, but charming nevertheless. For the past few minutes, i've been trying to figure out how you sing lines that aren't quite a melody but not totally dissonant either. I thought maybe you were singing in the pentatonic scale, but i'm not sure. I was surprised when"don't love nothing" and "walk no more" came on -- the most conventional i've heard so far -- in terms of vocal melody. Forgive me if I've been talkative an awful lot. It's 4 a.m. where I'm from. And the insomnia's bugging me. Yo've got something interesting here. Good luck.
