Mental Eviction Notices

Current Mood: refreshed
Sometimes I find myself emotionally depleted for no apparent reason. When I inspect my mental property I usually find that Negativity is camping out for free. There it is, having a good ol' time, using up my precious energy and getting stronger every day.
So now I'm learning to quickly say: "Be gone! Good riddance! Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!" And that goes regardless if it is negative thoughts, feelings or worse a consistently toxic person. I will not allow them to take up space in me any longer.
So this week, once again, I've had to get tough and throw some squatters out.
Peace is a good thing.
Check yourself from time to time. Feeling sad & tired? Dissatisfied and depleted? Maybe you need to post some eviction notices too.
Positive Wishes

Something More than Radio!

Current Mood: creative
I am a bona fide music lover. From Pop to Avant-Garde, I appreciate most genres and I always have my ear out for my next favorite song.
I love discovering new music on social networks because I'm more in control of the experience, than if I only listened to commercial radio. I have made sweet connections with people who live for music. Through them I can find what I want, when I want. It's great!
I've discovered some very talented artists that are not played on commercial radio in the US. If not for social networks, I wouldn't have known that they existed. Which is so exciting; because I LOVE spreading the word about the great new artists I've found. It feels good to support their journey whether they make it huge or not.
I'm also very inspired when I go into the studio now. I feel part of something bigger than what's in my head. I'm part of the Indie Revolution, shouting out to the world, "Wake UP! There's something more than radio!"

Current Mood: productive
I heard an artist say that putting her work out for public review was like placing her babies on the block for the world to critique, and the world can be cruel.
I found that to be an interesting thought.
A child is a separate entity from the parent with its own path and consciousness.
Initially I thought she should have likened her work to a more direct piece of herself like maybe her heart or soul. But I was wrong. What deeper pain could there be than a loving parent witnessing the brutal rejection of their child?
Still there is a bit of egoism in the desire for the child to be accepted by the world. If the child is validated so is the parent. The same goes if the child is rejected.
Maybe that's why some parents and artists never want to let go.
If the world rejects my song as worthless am I worthless as well? Should I bury my pen and pad, never writing again? Or do I listen, reflect and see if there is any truth to it? Can I use rejection as a tool to better my craft?
No one can love the child like the parent. But still they send their children out into the world hoping they find acceptance, understanding and friends. Mass adoration is just icing.
That's what I want for my work as well, acceptance, understanding and friends. Well... mass adoration aint too bad either.
Peace
