Caught Marié's one-night performance at Clark Quay last night. I would say that she's much prettier in person! She performed a mixture of pieces from her new album Breathing Underwater, as well as hits from Unfold. Venue was a quite small, which added to the cozy and intimate mood to the whole gig as Marié sang and chatted with us in between songs.

Frankly, I'd still prefer her acoustic songs though, and Breathing Underwater feels like a slightly different approach from the debut album. With that said, Marié would now move on to perform at Manila tomorrow, before heading off to Chiba in a week's time. Good luck and come back soon!

Headed down to the Esplanade last evening to catch Distant Worlds with a couple of my friends. The entire performance was nothing short of awesome!

In retrospect, I guess many were marveled by the ability of the Singapore Festival Orchestra to pull if off with such grace and grandiosity, under the direction of Arnie Roth. Of course, not forgetting Victoria Chorale and the respective solo performers. Personal favourites were To Zanarkand, Aerith's Theme and Love Grows. At the end of it, we were treated to encore pieces Terra's Theme and One Winged Angel, the latter in which Nobuo-san came on stage to join the choir ranks, much to everybody's delight!

Now, if only other great composers like Yoko Kanno, Jesper Kyd and Yuki Kajiura would perform such world tours too... :)

There's just this growing regret of not having planned a grad trip. Now that the 2-week break has gone by, I'll just be headed for work tomorrow onwards. To add insult to injury, some of my friends are commencing their vacation trips in 12 hours' time, how nice of them~ I bet they are still laughing at me, lol..

Alright, here's a nice tune that I have recently kept on loop. Emily Haines' voice shall dominate the final hours of this smashing weekend...

It's early evening here, and I'm groggy from a nap.

Been quite some time since I logged in. Maybe it'll be good to return soon, 'cos there's all the great music here that keeps me going through the good and bad times. Not to mention the tons of song recommendations that never fail to clog up my inbox, in a good way! I'm still keeping up with jpop/rock music scene, but have been delving more into folk rock/indie/electronica areas. Latest stuff on my winamp include some really nice tracks by Maria Taylor, Fleet Foxes and Lisa Ekdahl. Royksopp's latest album, Junior, is really groovy!! Best news of all, Do As Infinity has finally announced their first single, after 4 years!! Details are still sketchy, but it would be released in mid-June.

Once again, drop me a note if you've got a good tune to share :)

BRB, stay cool peeps~

Should I revive the activity in here? Should I not? That's one of the issue to figure out soon.

Anyways, here's wishing all friends here a wonderful 2009, success in your endeavours and good health always :)

The 2nd day at D'Marquee was definitely more exciting! Again, let the pics do the talking! (Outdoor shots were really great. The puny lumix really couldn't handle the less-than-favourable lighting conditions in D'Marquee..)

ran into L at Cheers cashier counter. I was getting more AA batts, he was getting more lollipops.. -_-||

luckily they didn't come in thousands..

icha icha paradise!! he just gotta read it in the middle of everything and everyone else!

I'm definitely seeing double here!!

too bad nanao-chan wasn't around to help him do the flower petal effects :D

really drove everybody nuts! 10/10 for effort and props!!

there's really a dude in that optimus prime. It was a hilarious scene as he didn't know how long he would be stuck in that position, lol!

ahh.. another nice piece of art on the wall. This shot was taken for imouto-san~

Another hilarious scene! Gintoki got more than a lifetime's worth of buttstabs.

SHINGEN TAKEDA!!! FUURIN KAZAN!!! I'VE NOT COMPLETED THE DRAMA YET!! ARGH!!

Jūshirō gets it hard from the rest of the gotei~

sayonara zetsubou sensei!! Really awesome make-up, esp the hair!!

aawww.....

Iron Man was a really kick-ass figure!

this really set my roflcopter off XD

Last but not least, kudos to all cosplayers at CosFest VII, you guys rock big time!! :D

I'll be going underground really soon, so there won't be much updates/uploads here anymore. The post-creation interface is bare and unfriendly, and I've more or less set up another demarcation zone out there to channel my rants. That said, I'll still be tossing interesting stuff here as and when time permits.

The last salvo here would be to bring you some goodies from CosFest VII-Super Henshin-! It is held at DownTown East, in that huge D'Marquee once again, and unlike the previous one, this would only be a 2-day event (today and tomorrow). Only selected shots would be put up here, and this is only day 1! Actual judging competition is tomorrow, so I'll be expecting more teams to turn up. Day 1 was marked by the abundance of D.Gray-man teams and Misa cosplayers, let's see what day 2 would offer! Enough said, here are the pics..

easily the best piece of drawing on the graffiti board

Alright, that girl on the right really had me racking my brains!! It was not until I got home, that it dawned on me that she may be cosplaying Sae Kurosawa from Fatal Frame 2~! See below for reference. It's a scarily awesome game on the ps2 back then~

I'm pretty sure I've gotten it right!

imo, Olivia Lufkin look-a-like

that's not complete!! where's kagura, shinpachi, gintoki and the entire shinsengumi?!?! XD

Alright, that's all for now. Time to go catch a movie before I hit the sack~

blog post Death Cab for Cutie is coming to Singapore!!!

YES!!! Another impossible thing has happened! DCfC is making Singapore as one of their stops in Asia!! First there was KT Tunstall back in March, then there's a host of artists coming for SingFest '08 (which includes Rick Astley. He's gonna rickroll us for sure, then there's One Republic, Jason Mraz and all...) this August, then DCfC now. This is really driving me nuts!

The unique Japan-Singapore-Australia pattern for some artists/bands who visited Asia lately... well, I'm definitely not complaining!

The performance is set to be on 12th August at the Esplanade. Sistic would open the ticket sales from next Friday (27th June) onwards, and I most likely would get a place in the pit once again. The sad thing is that I'm once again hardpressed to find another friend who's heard of the band name before, let alone listened to their songs, so I may be going solo once again, but what the hell do I care about! I'm just stupendously ecstatic for the fact that DCfC has made their success big enough to consider touring Asia. YEAH!! :D

Heard this at Muddy Murphy's yesterday just after Jade's first set. If only Miles sang this song, it would have brought down the entire house!! Too bad the music stopped at 12 as live broadcast of the Euro2008 Sweden vs Spain match got on, but nevertheless it was a great evening..

Trust me, you'll be surprised from the midpoint of this mv, all the way till the end. :)
