In 2001, Ayano Oomoto, Yuka Kashino, and Ayaka Nishiwaki, friends from Hiroshima, aged 11-12 joined together to form Perfume.
In 2002, they released two limited edition singles called Omajinai Perori and Kareshi Boshuchu, sold only in Hiroshima.
In 2003, Perfume moved to Tokyo and became produced by capsule's Nakata Yasutaka. Up until 2004, they released three singles, Sweet Donuts, Monochrome Effect, and Vitamin Drop under the Indies label "Bee-Hive".
They also performed three live shows within that time. Fans acquired
appreciation for them because of their energetic performances.
On September 21, 2005, Yasutaka used their cute pop/techno style for their major debut.
