Name: Kagome Higurashi
Age: 15
Personality: Angers easily, stubborn, kind.
Weapon: Shortbow and arrows (later in manga she locates a longbow with spiritual powers)
Abilities and powers: Purification Powers (Hama no reiryoku)

Description: Kagome is the main female character of the show. Shes fifteen-years-old ninth grade student. Her grandfather is the keeper of the Higurashi shrine which is a Shinto shrine near Tokyo. On her fifteenth birthday, Kagome tries to save her cat from falling down the shrine well and she is pulled into the Bone Eater's well by Mistress Centipede. This takes her back into time to the Sengoku Jidai period or feudal era of Japan.
It is here she finds finds the half demon InuYasha in a comatose-like sleep while sealed to the Goshinbuku tree (the tree of ages) by a sacred arrow that was shot by the priestess Kikyo fifty years before. Kagome removes the arrow from his chest, freeing InuYasha, and beginning their adventures.

Kagome and InuYasha had a rocky start. Being the reincarnation of Kikyo, Kagome has a very close resemblance to her in physical appearance and abilities. Consequently, the resentment InuYasha held for Kikyo at that time was carried over to Kagome.

However, the relationship between Kagome and InuYasha changes for the better. InuYasha’s tough guy facade slowly dissolves as Kagome helps him mature, and they even begin to fall in love. InuYasha even sees Kagome fully nude.

But, when Kikyo, InuYasha’s first love, is revived from the grave (using part of Kagome's soul) and InuYasha reveals that he still loves Kikyo. This intense love triangle becomes one of the main conflicts.

InuYasha encourages Kagome to stay in her own time so that he may save and avenge Kikyo, but Kagome, still in love, decides to stay with him anyway, knowing that she could never break their bond. In her own modern time, before she decides to stay with InuYasha, she strongly believed that she was second, and Kikyo was first. However, InuYasha is grateful to her and his love for Kagome grows while InuYasha still loves Kikyo.

Koga claim that Kagome is his woman causes tension between Kagome and InuYasha. Kagome does not really have any romantic interest in Koga, and tries to tell him so, but he refuses to believe her and assumes that once InuYasha is out of the picture, Kagome will love him back. Koga continues to pursue her, and Kagome still appreciates his friendship.

As kind-hearted as Kagome is, InuYasha can certainly test her nerves though it is not always InuYasha’s fault. Used as a comic relief, the two argue constantly throughout the anime, in some cases about Kikyo, which sometimes ends with Kagome saying osuwari ("sit" in the English dub) and InuYasha falling to the ground.

The two avoid discussing their relationship, but there are clear indications of their bond. This includes displays of intimacy such as holding hands, frequent physical contact below the shoulder, and Kagome allowing InuYasha to rest his head on her lap.

In Japanese culture, such gestures represent obvious feelings of love between two people. This is more evident after Kikyo's death when InuYasha asks Kagome to stay in modern Tokyo until Naraku is defeated, fearing that she will suffer the same fate as Kikyo. Kagome says that she will stay with InuYasha. In response to this, he holds her hand and tells her that he will protect her with his life. At this moment, they almost kiss, but are interrupted when Sota walks into the room.

After Naraku's death, Kagome is sucked into a Meidou and transported inside the Shikon Jewel, where she experiences an illusion in which she lives out her normal life. InuYasha cuts his own Meido and leaps in to rescue her, but is delayed by the soul of Magatsuhi, the demon trapped in eternal combat against the priestess Midoriko's soul inside the jewel. click to commentOnce Kagome sees through the illusion, the Shikon Jewel appears before her and tempts her with the chance to wish that none of the past events had ever happened. Magatsuhi reveals to InuYasha that, as a part of an eternal cycle of conflict, if Kagome was to perform a selfish wish on the jewel, her soul would be damned to fight the demons inside the jewel until the next miko over, with Naraku's soul replacing Magatsuhi. InuYasha refuses to believe the demon's assurances that Kagome will doom herself to that fate, and continues to fight him to reach her before it is too late.

However, while Kagome is trapped within the Shikon No Tama, she makes the wish for the jewel to disappear and it does, and then Naraku is finally defeated.

Afterwards, Kagome returns to the modern era for three years and returns at the age of 18 after her high school graduation. When she returns, she is reunited with InuYasha and marries him.

By Kagome Higurashi / Secchan
Current mood: creative
Name: Kagome Higurashi
Age: 15
Personality: Angers easily, stubborn, kind.
Weapon: Shortbow and arrows (later in manga she locates a longbow with spiritual powers)
Abilities and powers: Purification Powers (Hama no reiryoku)
This ability means anything Kagome touches gets purified. By gathering an enormous amount of concentrated power into her right palm, she can direct it at her opponents. She also uses this to purify the Jewel.

Spiritual Powers
Kagome can pass through barriers, spells, and/or illusions. Kagome is also able to sense evil auras and is unaffected by them. If possible, she is able to surround herself with her own spiritual powers to ward off any evil. It is later revealed that her powers are, to a great extent, sealed by the Shikon no Tama, so she may have other powers than these. According to Rumiko Takahashi, Kagome is potentially much stronger than Kikyo herself. Because Kagome is the reincarnation of Kikyo, Kagome most likely has Kikyo's power to add to her own. In the most recent chapters, when Magatsuhi was killed by Sesshoumaru, the complete extent of Kagome's spiritual powers were released.

Jewel Detecting
This allows her to sense the exact location of the Jewel shards. While other characters have shown a vague ability to see Shikon shards, only Kagome and Kikyo are able to sense the shards remotely.

Time Travel
Kagome can travel back and forth 500 years between the present and the Feudal era using the magical well behind her family's shrine. InuYasha and Kagome seem to be the only two characters in the series who are capable of doing so.
In the final chapters of the series, after the destruction of the Shikon Jewel, the well appears to temporarily shut down for three years. Kagome attempts to go back in time regularly, but is unsuccessful. However, after her high school graduation, she successfully time travels through the well.

Beads of Subjugation (Osuwari/Sit)
Placed around InuYasha's neck by Kaede and empowered to "subdue" him at a word from Kagome. This slams InuYasha into the ground whenever she says the word "sit". The effect wears off quickly and InuYasha is able to get up again. Sacred Arrow (Hama no Ya)
Kagome infuses her powers into her arrows. This allows the arrows to penetrate demonic forces and to purify objects.

Sacred Backlash Wave (Hama-Bakuryūha)
This attack is actually a combined effort between InuYasha and Kagome. It consists of Kagome firing one of her Sacred Arrows into the center of InuYasha's Backlash Wave before it connects. When it hits the enemy there is a higher chance that he will be destroyed by the combined powers.

Name: INUYASHA
Age: Appears 15 (excludes the 50 years he was pinned to the tree)
Personality: Straight forward, easily irritated, naive
Weapon: Claws, Tetsusaiga

Description: Inuyasha, the main star of the anime is half demon, half human. He possesses a human heart but strong demon like claws and strength. 50 years ago, he tried to obtain the Shikon stone, which can turn him into a full demon, but was stopped by the maiden who protects the stone: Kikyo.

click to comment

InuYasha is a brave but naive Hanyō (half demon), the result of a relationship between a powerful inu yōkai (dog demon) Daiyokai and a beautiful human woman. Orphaned at a young age, InuYasha is rejected by humans because of his yōkai side and looked down upon by yōkai because his human blood supposedly taints his superior yōkai blood. Thus, before InuYasha met, and consequently fell in love with, the powerful miko, Kikyo, he found it very difficult to trust anyone else. However, InuYasha is a half demon, and therefore ages differently than a normal human.

click to comment

Since the Jewel of Four Souls (Shikon No Tama or Sacred Jewel) was powerful enough for InuYasha to become a full yōkai and Kikyo was the protector of the jewel, InuYasha was motivated to follow Kikyo. However, the two fell in love, and eventually, Kikyo talked InuYasha into becoming human, instead. A human, named Onigumo, plotted to take the jewel for himself. He was once a bandit who was obsessed with Kikyo and became jealous that she had fallen in love with InuYasha. Unable to take any other action, Onigumo gave his body to a horde of demons for power. Their union is Naraku. Naraku disguised himself first as InuYasha and then as Kikyo to deceive them into betraying each other. Enraged at Kikyo's "betrayal", InuYasha broke into Kikyo's village and stole the sacred jewel. To defend the village and to keep him from escaping with the jewel, Kikyo shot InuYasha with a sacred arrow pinning him to Goshinboku. Moments later, Kikyo collapses from a wound she received from Naraku and gives final instructions to Kaede, her sister, to burn the jewel with her body so it would travel to the afterworld with her.

500 years later, Kagome Higurashi, a junior-high-school student, unknowingly carried the Jewel of the Four Souls within the left side of her torso. Kagome is the reincarnation of Kikyo. A centipede called Mistress Centipede attacked Kagome and draged her into the Bone Eater's Well which transported her back to the time of the story. She arrives Fifty years after Kikyo pinned InuYasha to the Goshinboku. In order to defeat the centipede, Kagome releases InuYasha. InuYasha is thinking how first, he will kill the centipede, then do the same to Kagome to get the jewel. After InuYasha kills Mistress Centipede, he tries to steal the Jewel but ends up with the Beads of Subjugation around his neck. When Kagome says "sit," the necklace plunges to the ground, taking InuYasha with it.

InuYasha becomes more civil as time progresses, losing some of his more childish qualities and becoming much more mature. He always tries to take the most direct route possible in solving any problem, which usually involves violence. He maintains a crass, rude attitude towards everyone except Kagome and Kikyo, and to a lesser degree the rest of his companions except Shippo.

click to comment

While one of InuYasha's character traits - which is pointed out by other characters - is his tendency to allow his anger to cloud his judgment and cause him to act rashly, we see him change over time such that he begins to care about Kagome, and it is clear that despite his original intent, presumably, that he would have killed her to get the jewel, we see that InuYasha would die, if necessary, to protect Kagome.

click to comment

InuYasha speaks with pretty harsh Japanese. He never uses honorifics and when talking to people he does not like, he uses "temee" and "kisama", both of which are often translated as "you bastard". He does, however, stick with the standard "omae". He uses the tough masculine pronoun "ore", which suits his personality and strength. He also does not show respect to his elders, often calling them "-baba" or "-jiji", which translates as "old hag" or "old geezer", respectively.

InuYasha is offended when someone calls him a mangy mutt, puppy, half breed, or otherwise suggests that he is inferior to yōkai, due to his human parentage. Although InuYasha should be weaker than full demons since he is a hanyō, he tends to remain the victor in fights largely due to the fact he wields Tessaiga, and his heritage being from that of a dai-yokai (grand demon) thus allowing him to take a humanoid form like Sesshomaru, Naraku and Koga giving him a great deal of power.

click to comment

Being a hanyō, InuYasha loses his demonic powers periodically and is turned into a normal human boy with black hair.

click to comment

For him, this "time of weakness" occurs during the first night of a new moon. His team members try their best to protect him at that time, and keep this vulnerability secret from others. Despite their efforts, however, some of InuYasha's adversaries, including Kagura, learn of this weakness. However, Kagura does not use it against him.

click to comment

InuYasha's yōkai blood takes over anytime his life is in danger and the Tetsusaiga is out of reach. When transformed, the white's of InuYasha's eyes turn red, while the other part turns blue with no pupil. Stripes appear on the sides of his face, and his fangs and claws lengthen. Once transformed, he gains a massive boost in all of his physical abilities, such as strength and durability, and becomes impervious to pain. He cannot, however, distinguish between friend and foe.

click to comment

Kagome however decides that she will stay with InuYasha no matter what. In response to this, he holds her hand and tells her that he will protect her with his life. After that, InuYasha's feelings for Kagome remain constant, although he still hasn't officially expressed them.
