The star of TV show Hannah Montana has been chatting to Newsround to answer some of YOUR questions!

Fourteen-year-old Miley Cyrus plays schoolgirl Miley Stewart who is a
normal girl by day but leads a double life as a chart-topping pop star
by night.

Loads of you got in touch with your questions for the teen star and here's what she had to say........

Do you ever get nervous singing in front of millions of people?
Lauren, 12, Doncaster

Sometimes. I just got off a tour and being on tour helped me to
prepare for big arenas and things like. But places that I'm not
familiar with I do get a bit nervous, but when I get out there I forget
all about it.

What are the best bits about being a pop star?
Greta, 10, London AND Paul, 10

I love to travel, so getting to go to different places and see
different people is really cool. And getting to meet, not only people
that I meet when I'm filming the show in California, but also when I
get to tour I get to see all kinds of different places which is really
cool.

I love London. I love all the cool buildings. The biggest thing
- I feel like such a geek - is all the taxis and the way that people
drive on the opposite side are awesome. So, even the little things you
guys don't think about I think are totally awesome.

What is it like acting with your dad?
Alice, 12, Slough

It's cool. We're always together and he loves this place so he's
jealous that he can't be here with me now. I think I like it even more
than he does, which would be the opposite of what people would think. I
think I drive him crazy sometimes but it's definitely fun working with
my dad.

Would you like to live a double life like Hannah?
Nicole, 12, Tonbridge

Young fans wait for Miley Cyrus
Young fans wait for Miley Cyrus

I think it would be cool. Me and my big sister were talking about it
the other day. It would be sweet if you could do that but then again I
think it's really fun when you get to go out and meet your friends and
stuff like that. So, I think sometimes I like having the double life
and sometimes I don't want it.

What does it feel like having people look up to you as a role model?
Jay, 10, Salisbury

It's really cool. A lot of the songs that I do are pin-pointed for
teens or people in school so I think that's really cool getting to
reach out to people with my songs.

What does it feel like when you are walking down the road and lots of people start coming up to you and taking pictures?
Becky, 11, Essex

Sometimes when I'm with a bunch of people I get nervous and kind of embarrassed but I think it's fun. I really like it.

Do you have any pets and if so, what are they and what are their names?
Poppy, 12, Poole

I have lots of pets. I have eight horses, six dogs, a fish, two cats
and chickens. I used to have a rat, but he died. I think that's it.
When I'm older I want my house to be a total zoo because I love
animals.

Have you always wanted to be on TV?
Holly, 12, Braintree

Yes. When I was younger I really wanted to do the singing thing. I
didn't know all this was at all possible and now I think I wouldn't
give it up for anything. I love it!

Do you prefer being Miley or Hannah?
Grace, 11, Birmingham

Miley. The only bad thing about being Hannah is the wig is extremely
hot and extremely itchy. So that's the only thing keeping me from
saying Hannah because I love the make-up and all that kind of thing.

What is your favourite moment or episode from Hannah Montana?
Naomi, 8, Glasgow AND Yumna, 10, London

Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus meets her fans

There's some crazy things that happen in series two. I get spaghetti
dropped on my head, I get tomato juice thrown on me, oh, and I get some
new boys. So there's some new things that I think people will look
forward to.

Last year, I feel like they had to distinguish the characters
and say what was going on. Now they're really showing what they do when
they're put in real-life situations, so it's like you're meeting the
characters for the first time.

What do you do to relax when you are not singing or acting?
Tiffany, 11

I really like just chilling with my friends and playing guitar.
Also, this year, I've got really into yoga. I like to exercise, so I
think that's fun to get all your energy out, because I've got a lot of
energy all the time.

What inspired you to be an actress and singer?
Sammy, 11, Chippenham

I think watching my dad and I love that even on our set now, everyone's like a family. I really like that.

I've always loved singing. I think it's a really good way to get
out your feelings. And then acting's really cool too because you step
aside from your life for a little bit and it's fun just to feel
different things.

What is the weirdest thing you've been given by a fan?
Homy, 14, Blackburn

Hannah Montana
Hannah Montana

I think the weirdest thing was actually on set. There was a little
girl walking by and she had a really cool jacket and so I said "hey, I
really like your jacket, where did you get it?". And she told me where
she got it and then she left and I sat down eating my lunch.

Fifteen minutes later, she came back and she gave me her jacket. I was
like "oh my gosh, I can't take your jacket it's freezing outside" and I
was like no, no, no. Then she acted like she was going to walk away and
then she threw it and gave it to me.

I tried not to take it and she threw it at me.

What is it like being three people; Miley Cyrus, Miley Stewart and Hannah Montana?
Harini, 11, Grafton

I think Miley Cyrus gets a little bit confused when it's Hannah
Montana and Miley Stewart . Sometimes, in the middle of a scene, I'm
like, ok, who am I? What am I supposed to be fighting for right now?

And it's crazy some of the things I'll say because there are
some things that Miley can do and Hannah can't. I noticed the other day
I always wear a necklace that says Miley on it and I wore it as Hannah
Montana and I'd kind of given it away. What was I thinking? So things
like that I'll forget to do. Little things that could give it away.

blog post Life's a whirl for Hannah Montana star
Posted in Updates on Jul 17, 2007 at 4:14 AM by Sarah
She acts. She sings. She sells.

Miley Cyrus is not only the star of Hannah Montana, the Disney Channel's most-watched series. She's also a singer whose latest CD, Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus, just hit the top of the Billboard charts. Not to mention the driving force behind a long line of Hannah merchandise: clothing, jewelry, cosmetics, DVDs, video games and karaoke machines.

So it's not surprising to find her extremely busy as she runs through scenes for another episode of Hannah Montana here in a studio on Sunset Boulevard.

(The premise: Miley is a typical brunette teenager but, by night, she secretly becomes an international pop star named Hannah Montana.)

Director Rich Correll puts her and other Hannah cast members through their paces. He advises Emily Osment (Haley Joel's little sis), who plays Hannah's best friend Lily, when to emphasize a certain line. He tells Miley to go a little bit faster. When the scene gets to its big punch line, he's the one who can be heard chuckling a little bit longer and louder than the rest of the Hannah crew.

``OK, back to the great room,'' Correll yells, and everyone moves to the expansive living area to rehearse the next scene.

A reporter on the set has just enough time to approach Miley and ask a quick question: How difficult is it to be Hannah Montana and also a regular 14-year-old kid?

"It's kind of challenging, knowing you have people looking at you and knowing what you do is always under a microscope," says the inexhaustible crossover queen. "But I think it's a good thing to have, in that it keeps you grounded."

Is that difficult sometimes?

"Sometimes," she says, "but I have good family and friends that keep me normal."

Of course, "normal" is relative. As Miley goes off to rehearse, the realization is that this is not your normal teen.

But executive producers Steven Peterman and Michael Poryes do try to keep Miley and the show as grounded and normal as a successful conglomerate can be.

"The audience feels they can touch her," says Poryes, whose credits include That's So Raven and Veronica's Closet. "They know her. They know her friends. She doesn't have an ego, and she's not all out of control and all that.

"She's not just acting this role. The role is, in large part, a lot like she is. You can't lie to kids. They're seeing the genuineness on the screen. They're seeing that our cast really likes each other. Billy and Miley love each other and have a wonderful relationship. You really see that."

That is Billy as in Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley's dad. As most Hannah fans can tell you, when Miley was born, he named her Destiny Hope. But when she smiled at him, he called her "smiley." From that came the nickname Miley.

The Hannah Montana name would come when she turned 13. Miley famously auditioned many times for the part, starting when she was 11. She was too young and too green then, says Peterman (Murphy Brown, Suddenly Susan). But that ended up helping her because, well, she got older.

"We kept bring her back and kept listening to that husky Tennessee voice and looking at those eyes, and we said, 'She's awfully green but you can't stop watching her and there's no one on the air quite like her.' "

"Miley has such a strong personality that we started to shift the character to accommodate who she was," added Poryes.

Originally, the show was much more about introspection. Onstage, she was Hannah Montana and more in control. But as Miley, she didn't know how to deal with certain situations in her life.

"The reality," says Peterman, "is that Miley showed us you can't be a girl who gets on a stage in front of 15,000 people and owns it and come offstage and be something else. Miley has inner strength that just continued to surprise us in the first year as she grew into this and dealt with the challenges of the show."

"And that made us discover that the character is the same," says Poryes. "Miley behaves the same as Hannah, which is one of the big secrets."

Other characters changed, too.

Peterman: "Jason Earles' character, the brother, was an introverted ventriloquist who was somewhat in the shadow of his star sister and could only express himself through this sock puppet."

Poryes: "Jason came in and was so strong that the puppet actually got in the way. So we wrote the puppet out."

Peterman: "What came about was a very normal older brother who was completely unimpressed with his sister's success and treats her like an older brother treats his younger sister. What's so good is that girls see her on that stage and in school and at home dealing with the exact same stuff they have to deal with, and it makes them feel like she's a friend of theirs."

Miley finishes rehearsing. The reporter swoops in.

What was it like, playing to a sold-out Reliant Stadium audience at this year's RodeoHouston?

"It was so great," says Miley. "It was an amazing experience. It was insane. I think I have some of the biggest fans in Houston. They were awesome. I think it was my biggest show."

Miley leaves to rehearse yet another scene. This time, a couple of young girls (daughters of a crew member) follow her every move.

"This show has gotten a demographic beyond what most Disney shows have gotten," says Peterman, reflecting on the show's success. Big-name guest stars like Curb Your Enthusiasm's Larry David ask to be on the show (often to impress their children, some say). For the episode now in rehearsal, the Rock is guest-starring.

The show's conceit is that she secretly is a rock star, so music also plays a role in its success.

"It's that thing that differentiates us from every other kids show out there," says Peterman. "We've got that life in it, and also Miley is the real deal. She's got that voice and she's not manufactured. Miley has the chops to play this character because she's become this character. Miley is a real girl who has become a rock star."

Was Miley shocked at how well her new album has done?

"For sure," says Miley, talking 14-year-old fast. "It was the first time I'd ever done a Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus album together. I was really excited for people to hear all the stuff I had written."

Like Britney Spears and Hilary Duff before her, Miley Cyrus is a young Disney TV star who's become such a hit that people imitate her every move.

"It's pretty insane," says Miley. "There are people singing and dressing up like Hannah Montana and some people dressing up like Miley Cyrus. It's crazy to see that, but it's also rewarding to see that hard work pays off."

Isn't it also a huge responsibility?

"Yeah, it definitely is a huge responsibility, but there is always a kind of pressure to live up to that. That's nice to have in the back of your mind, because I really want to make the fans proud of me."

Does she see herself changing career goals?

"No, I still have some other stuff to work on. Not only this show, but we're talking about the tour and traveling and the new clothing line and everything, so I still have a lot of things I have to do."

So she plans on being both an actress and a singer?

"Yeah. And fashion designer. Take over the world. There's a lot of stuff I'd love to do."

blog post Hannah Montana…the movie!
Posted in Updates on Jul 12, 2007 at 12:24 AM by Sarah

First, I want to say “Congratulations!” to Miley Cyrus and her fans
for making her the YOUNGEST ARTIST EVER to have TWO NUMBER ONE ALBUMS
in less than a year. That’s awesome! But, Miley’s got another big thing
in store for you. Can you guess what it is? “We’re trying to work on
putting the (Hannah Montana) movie together,” she smiles. OMG, totally exciting news!!!

So Miley/Hannah on the big screen? Yes, please! “Now we’re figuring
out ideas,” Miley says. “My dad is the producer, which I’m really
excited about. He’s never done anything like this before, but my dad is
ready to take on new challenges.” Miley’s dad Billy Ray reveals even
more secrets about the HM movie. “There’ll be a lot of
similarities (to the show), and the fact that Miley is so real, her
music is real, we’ll keep a lot of that realism,” Billy Ray says. “But
I think we’ll go a little further with the comedy. And it’s going to be
on the big screen, so we’ll try to make everything look bigger.”

Miley has a few ideas of what she wants in her big screen debut,
too! “The best idea is that I miss home,” she says. “So if we could
maybe film in Nashville and everyone could see our house and where we
live, that we have a farm, that would be really exciting.”

blog post MILEY CYRUS SETS YOUNGEST ARTIST USA CHART RECORD
Posted in Updates on Jul 11, 2007 at 12:49 AM by Sarah
THE SKINNY: Miley Cyrus has made musical history in the USA by becoming the youngest artist to have two number one albums in under a year.

The 14-year-old, whose father is “Achy Breaky Heart” singer Billy Ray Cyrus, shot to the top of the American charts last week after selling 326,000 copies of her new double album HANNAH MONTANA 2/MEET MILEY CYRUS.
Cyrus' first disc HANNAH MONTANA, named after the teenager's Disney Channel TV series alter ego, jumped straight to the top of the US charts in October 2006.

The cynical among you may speculate that these two chart toppers are not a direct result of superior singing ability, but rather (1) the legacy of a famous father and (2) the Disney musical star making machinery, which has been remarkably successful in marketing fresh acts via their cable outlet and Radio Disney network, both of which mines the relatively open pre-teen music fan market.

'Hannah's' Miley Should Be All Smiley

There's no "Achy Breaky Heart" for Billy Ray Cyrus's kid these days.

Better known to many as Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus sat atop the Billboard chart last week and near the apex of the cable Nielsens in June.

Last week, Disney Records and Hollywood Records' Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus scanned more than 325,000 units in its release week June 24-July 1. The dual-disc debuted at the top the Billboard Top 200 chart, and also finished atop its Children's and Soundtrack charts. The set also ranked No. 1 on the iTunes Music Store.

Last month, the June 24 episode of the Hannah Montana posted a 5.2 household rating, attracting 7.38 million viewers, the third highest-total for any basic cable show last month.

It's in tune with Miley's character. On the show, the younger Cyrus plays 14-year-old Miley Stewart, a normal teenager except for the fact that she leads a double life as a pop superstar. That fact is unknown to all except her closest friend and father Robby Ray, played by country singer Billy Ray Cyrus.

First Miley Cyrus became the youngest artist ever to have two #1 albums in under a year, as the 14-year-old topped the Billboard albums chart with 326,000 copies sold of her brand-new double album, Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus (see "Kelly Clarkson Loses Billboard #1 To Hannah Montana").

As if that weren't enough, she revealed to MTV News over the weekend that a "Hannah Montana" movie is making its way to the big screen. "My new solo album just came out — it was #1 this week, and hopefully it'll be #1 next week," Miley said. "Now we're trying to work on putting the movie together."

For those who don't TiVo blocks of the Disney Channel on a regular basis, "Hannah Montana" is the hit show that tells the story of Miley Stewart, an average teen girl by day and famous pop singer by night. Revealing her true identity to only a select few, she is managed by her dad (played by Miley's real-life papa, Billy Ray Cyrus), with a lot of the comedy coming from her adjustments to life after moving from Nashville to Malibu, California. Barely a year old, the program is one of the highest-rated kids' shows of all time (second only to "American Idol" among 6- to 14-year-olds), and its chart-topping soundtrack was released in October (see " 'Hannah Montana' Star Miley Cyrus Ready To Break Out, Hilary-Style").

"Now we're figuring out ideas for the 'Hannah Montana' movie," Miley said when we caught up with her at the "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" premiere Sunday (see " 'Harry Potter' Cast, Hannah Montana, Ashley Tisdale Enchanted At 'Phoenix' Premiere"). "And yes, it's for the theaters, so hopefully I'll see you there.

"My dad is the producer, which I'm really excited about," she added. "He's never done anything like this before, but my dad is ready to take on new challenges."

With that in mind, we caught up with Miley's famous father, who was willing to cough up a few thoughts on how he's steering the script. "There'll be a lot of similarities [to the show], and the fact that Miley is so real, her music is real, we'll keep a lot of that realism," Billy Ray revealed. "But I think we'll go a little further with the comedy. And it's going to be on the big screen, so we'll try to make everything look bigger."

Since the script is still being written, there are still various ideas about how to take "Hannah Montana" to the next level. But as art imitates life and Miley Cyrus approaches the same level of fame as her onscreen character, the actress is eager to contribute her own ideas to the project.

Crossing her fingers and saying "I'm hoping," Miley revealed the plotline she likes the best. "The best idea is that I miss home," she said. "So if we could maybe film in Nashville and everyone could see our house and where we live, that we have a farm, that would be really exciting."

Judging by the chart-topping sales of her newest album, we're thinking that "Hannah Montana" fans would agree. Because, to paraphrase the title of a record by another Southern hitmaker, Elvis Presley, 326,000 Miley Cyrus fans can't be wrong.

blog post Miley Cyrus Takes Top Honor
Posted in Updates on Jul 11, 2007 at 12:27 AM by Sarah
Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus has rocked the charts for a second time. Cyrus' second album Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus, a two-disc set that was released June 24, reached #1 on the Billboard Top 200 in its first week, making Cyrus the youngest artist to have two #1 albums in less than a year.

"It doesn't really surprise me. It speaks to the power of the Disney Channel and the constituency they have," R.J. Curtis of Radio & Records magazine said. "Miley beat Kelly Clarkson in the amount of units moved, by a bunch — it's really amazing."

Last fall Hannah Montana was the first-ever TV soundtrack to hit the top Billboard spot. Though Cyrus was featured on most, but not all of the tracks, the album sold over 3 million copies.

The new album features Cyrus singing 10 songs as Hannah Montana, the normal school girl by day and pop star at night. The second disc Meet Miley Cyrus, features Cyrus singing as herself. In October Cyrus will launch a nationwide tour.

Cyrus co-stars on Hannah Montana with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus. The show is the top-rated Disney Channel series.
