Wiping off her watery eyes with her forearm she then paused.
“Be brave! I gotta be brave.” She said to herself.
She then breathed in deeply and looked up at the broken widows high above.
“I’m going in!” she yelled out loudly.
Slowly she crept up the old rickety wooden steps up to the front door. Putting her hand on the door she then twisted the knob. It was locked. Alyx then breathed in a sigh of relief. She couldn’t get in. Calmly, she then turned and as she took one step away, the door slowly creaked open. The sound of it made her tremble nervously.
She then heard a voice whisper, “Come in.”
Puzzled, Alyx then looked around.
“Uh…., “she was confused.
“You!” the voice then said louder.
“Me?” Alyx then looked around.
“Yes you!”
“I don’t see anyone else standing around out there!” the voice whipped.
“But…” Alyx then paused.
“Oh just get in the darn house already!” the voice scolded her.
Alyx then ran in! She didn’t think and just did what the voice told her to do. Inside the house, it was eerie and dark. Littered with dust and cobwebs, she entered the living. Where was that mysterious voice coming from? More importantly, what was it?
“Hellooo!” She called out.
There was no answer. She continued by going through the house room to room. As she went into another room she peered at the window. It was getting dark outside. Soon her tranquility was starting to get offset by fear. To relieve her of her fear she started talking loudly and to herself.
“Voice. Where are you? Are you hurt? My name is, Alyx.” She said.
There was no answer still.
“I’m sorry, whoever you are… But I must be going. It’s getting dark and I have to be home.”
Alyx then started to make her way to the front door. As she passed by one room she noticed an old book by the fireplace. It looked very interesting to her so she picked it up and tucked it under her arm. She then turned, but at the instant she noticed a small box. Not having time she picked it up and threw it in her pocket.
“No time now, I’ll look at it when I get home.” She said to herself.
Night soon came and Alyx found herself at the front door. Just in time, she thought. Alyx then smiled and left the house on its own. No voice would call this time and she didn’t give it a thought. Mysteriously, she forgot about it and she then made her way home.
