guestlist@buzzlife.comAbout STARKILLERS:
It’s rare when the label of "rock star" is justified in dance music, and refreshing when that success is backed up the musical talent, drive, and sincerity that is possessed by
Nick Terranova. His signature blend of catchy vocals, booming bass lines and genre-defying range are always in full effect on tour or at his "Dirty Sound" residencies at Late Night Empire in Las Vegas, crobar Chicago, Lizard Lounge in Dallas, On Broadway in San Diego, Bleu in Detroit, and Bliss in San Antonio. The energy and sexiness that are hallmarks of Terranova’s live shows are also his trademarks as a producer and remixer - a dance music "triple threat." That dirty vocal track your girlfriend keeps singing in the shower? It’s a Nick Terranova production.
The Las Vegas native is best known as the man behind the MASSIVE hit Discoteka. The very first track released under his Starkillers alias lived at the top of the Billboard Dance and Beatport sales charts, named an "Essential Selection" on Pete Tong’s BBC1 radio show, nominated for best underground track at the IDMAs, and supported by almost every major DJ out there. But the track’s success simply encouraged the hard working producer to get his ass back into the studio.
Terranova has an impressive list of musical accomplishments: he runs the record label Terratraxx that he started in 2002, has produced a ton of original productions and done an equally impressive number of high profile remixes. Done both in his own name and under pseudonyms such as Starkillers, Aftertouch, Terranova, Hi_Lo, and Nick Touch, they include remixes of iiO’s "Rapture," Stevie Nick’s "Stand Back," Paul Oakenfold’s "Sex & Money", Holmes & Ives’ "8 Letters," and DJ Dan’s "Rock to the Rhythm."
Nick’s collaborative partnership with close friend (and neighbor) Austin Leeds has been equally successful. The Terranova & Austin Leeds duo have produced a string of hits together, including "Shake Me," "Rock Me," "For the Pills," "Only You," "Dirty Sound" (Stealth Records), and "Acid Disco" as well remixes of Dario Nunez’s "My World" (Stereo Productions) and Dave Spoon’s "This Machine" (Toolroom Records). They are a dream team on the road as well, headlining numerous "Starkillers vs. Austin Leeds" and "Terranova & Austin Leeds" nights around the country.
Expect big things in the future for Nick Terranova. He kicks off his U.S. tour, appropriately named the Dirty Sound Tour in August, and will be taking the "Dirty Sound" global with stops lined up in South America, Europe, Asia, Canada, and Australia. He will be releasing the compilation "Dirty Sound Volume 1: The Injection" on August 28th on Made Records, and he is also putting the finishing touches on a massive collaboration with Paul Van Dyk for PVD’s next artist album.
Not bad for such a rising star: Nick Terranova and his "Dirty Sound" are everywhere. Just keep an eye on that girlfriend of yours...
The Shapeshifters are West London house duo Simon Marlin and Max Reich who have, over the past 4 years, established themselves as a chart-topping production partnership and internationally recognized DJ team.
After meeting in 1996 in Max’s native Gothenburg, Sweden, where Simon was sourcing new talent for the Down Boy label, Simon became Max’s artist manager. The pair worked successfully on many production projects, most notably signing the Fused project to Sony - after which Max moved to London.
It was not until 2003, with no commercial pressure or expectations, that the pair finally sat down in the studio together. Combining Simon’s love of house music, Max’s studio experience and a slice of inspiration from a late-night session with Lola – Simon’s wife – listening to her old vinyl collection, the seeds where planted for the first production by The Shapeshifters. Its working title was ‘Lola’s Theme’.
Seven months later, after being promo’d on Simon, Max and Lola’s label Nocturnal Groove, and subsequently licensed to Positiva, ‘Lola’s Theme’ became the chart-topping 1 hit that put The Shapeshifters on the map. ‘Lola’s Theme’ spent more than 8 weeks at the top of the national airplay chart, sounding the welcome return of house music to daytime radio in the process. Testament to its success, The Shapeshifters were nominated for a Brit award in 2004 and picked up numerous House Music Awards in 2004 and 2005.
The Shapeshifters have since forged a musical path beyond many of their contemporaries, hitting the UK national top 40 on 3 more occasions with ‘Back To Basics’, ‘Incredible’ and ‘Sensitivity’.
In March 2006 they unleashed their debut artist album ‘Sound Advice’, a 12 track, career-defining work, with a depth of song-writing and further high quality exploration of musical styles that far exceeds their earlier promise. Utilising the new vocal talents of Jenna G and Antigone Foster alongside Cookie, and musicians such as LSO and Nile Rodgers, Simon and Max have produced a perfectly complete album that encompasses everything from the sun-drenched Balearica and psychedelia of ‘Beautiful Heartache’ to the soaring strings and familiar brass stabs of ‘Lola’s Theme’.
Be it with echoes of classic techno (‘Really Feel’), downtempo paeans to the chemical generation (‘Over Me’), epic brass riffs and deep electronic grooves (‘If In Doubt Go Out’ – released in September 2006 as a 12” single featuring a remix from The Buick Project), or classic electro (Little Green Men), with their debut artist album The Shapeshifters firmly dispelled the myth that dance bands can’t write songs. ‘Sound Advice’ contains a total of four chart-bothering singles and proves that a British dance act is not an outdated concept after all.
Simon and Max have also commissioned remix work for a diverse number of artists ranging from We Deliver – mixing ‘Breathe Again’ for release on their own Nocturnal Groove imprint – and Gerald Elms through to work for Frankie Knuckles – on ‘I’ve Had Enough’ for his Dub J Delight album project. The boys themselves have also remixed George Michael’s ‘Flawless’, the high profile ‘Ain’t No Other Man’ by Christina Aguilera – a remix that hit the summits of the US Billboard Dance Chart - and more recently ’Bleeding Love’ by Leona Lewis.
In addition to their studio work, The Shapeshifters have toured the world extensively over the past two years. Three seasons in Ibiza have seen them become regulars on the terrace for ‘Cream @ Amnesia’, guest for ‘Def Mix @ Pacha’ alongside Frankie Knuckles, and make one-off appearances at other venues from intimate club ‘The Underground’ to the massive Radio One Weekend.
Simon and Max have toured Australia twice, DJed extensively throughout Europe and sold-out clubs in Dubai, Russia, Egypt, South Africa and China. In 2006 they were fixtures in the international festival calendar, taking in all 3 HiFi Festivals as well as Global Gathering, SW4 – which saw their debut ‘Live’ performance – Creamfields in Poland and the Castle Dance Festival in St. Petersburg. Combine all this with the acquisition of the ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ award at the 2005 House Music Awards and the success of their ‘House Grooves’ compilation CDs and it’s obvious why The Shapeshifters are such hot property in both the DJ booth and the studio.
With a new studio album due in early 2008, the development of their stunning ‘Live’ performance (featuring a 7 piece band), more high profile remix work, the continued growth of the Nocturnal Groove label (now planning its 14th release), and a hatful of planned DJ engagements and further international tours, it’s onwards and upwards for The Shapeshifters.

Deadmau5
Found lurking in the creative laboratory known as the ‘deadmau5 disco den of despair and inequity’ this creative ingenue runs the gamut of beats unlike any other. Since his inception deadmau5 has stormed our planet with chart topping action and playlists from the best of the best.
deadmau5's magnificent stylings have a captured an audience that has moves with him and his sounds. Ranging from thumping to the electro, the weird and the strong - one thing has become synonymous with deadmau5 and that is world class quality.
This Canadian native transplanted from the borders of Niagara Falls to Toronto and that's just the beginning of his tale. In Niagara he was the co-producer of a radio program "the party revolution" and that may very well have been the launch of the deadmau5. From the many collaborations which have transpired alongside friend and companion sound genius Steve Duda, the moniker of BSOD was born.
Meanwhile in Canada deadmau5 has helped position label Play Digital as a top selling label online landing number 1 singles and remixes on digital market via Beatport.com. These singles have seen play by the likes of Pete Tong, John Acquaviva, Chris Lake, Sebastien Leger, Nic Fanciulli, Jody from WOW, Donald Glaude and many many more...
Currently working with the group 24twentyfour the future is powered by the sounds of deadmau5. Now with his own label 'Xfer records' and 'mau5trap'. Mightier than a sonic boom the house of mau5 is a powerful force on the dancefloors of the globe.

REPLICANT
[Sinestro vs JonnyC, RehabRecords.net]
4 Decks, 2 Androids
Replicant is hungry for dancefloor mayhem and will not be denied sweaty, dancing bodies.
The idea of Minimal Techno being mixed with Electro, House, vocal snippets and breakbeats is not a new idea. Sinestro and JonnyC have been doing this for years (20 combined years to be exact). But when you combine 2 powerhouse DJ’s that do not care about musical boundaries, you get a veritable orgy of sound that will absolutely crush any envelope that ever existed in dance music.
Expect everything including the kitchen sink.
You are not prepared for this.
