and if you want more proof, just look at the all the fuckin genres they tackled: thrash, punk, metal, blues, country, they tried their hand at nu-metal, and still play fast as hell speed metal and they're pushin 50.

i don't think anyone really can be attributed with "starting metal." if you look back at the beginning of metallica and sabbath both, they were more or less heavily punk influenced. in Cliff 'Em All they talk about how they were influenced by the misfits. they did a few punk covers. last caress, die die my darling. and kill 'em all was definitely punk/metal. but metal evolved out of just wanting to play heavier shit. they talked in other interviews about how on their tour with sabbath people said they just about took the stage. the arguments always go back to "who was first" in which case maiden and sabbath and others came well before metallica, but in all honesty metallica did take it in a new direction, they just showed up "four regular guys in t-shirts and jeans." anyone remember that quote? and they fuckin rocked. sure after 30 fuckin years james's voice is going seeing as how he uses that vocal pitch thing, but im pretty sure death magnetic is proof that they're musical abilities are still as good as ever. can anyone say that about any of the other bands that are still trying to play after so long? seriously, i dont claim them to be the best ever cuz ppls tastes are different but still, they kick way more ass than ninety-something percent of shit out there.

Why haven't they made any DEATH metal remakes of metallica's songs... damn....

"but yeah back in the day metallica was alright
master of puppets and kill em all two best albums" -Ritsuka
who the hell do you think you are!!??
Kil em all was definutely not thier best album, and master of puppets (ALBUM not song) sucked because it only had a few good songs
on the other hand, ...and justice for all and the black album were simply masterpieces, perhaps among the top 10 best metal (broad genre) albums ever made
"metallica was allright" what the fuck, metallica SET THE STANDARD for metal, no other band really sounds liek them at all, even when they try. Thier music is simply unparallelled by any other band
"wow even better than metallicas version lmao!!!!!" - NO this is not better than the original, the guitar playing is up to par with the original, the vocals are mediocre. Better than dream theatre's remake though
No band to this date is better than metallica, i've heard 100 different metal bands, including all of the popular ones and not one (save death metal) is even anywhere near the quality of metallica. Im NOT saying other bands suck, im just saying that metallica are the undisputed kings of metal...

This cover not that bad. I'm not a Trivium fan but I think this is probally one of the better Metallica covers I have heard.
