HIGHLY-acclaimed Puteri Gunung Ledang the Musical is back for a third season next February.

The musical, produced by Enfiniti Productions, started its run in February 2006 at Istana Budaya Kuala Lumpur and was followed by a second season in August of the same year.
Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina resumed her roles as leading lady Puteri as well as the show’s executive producer for both seasons.
“We had two successful seasons with PGL at Istana Budaya and even a sold-out season at the Esplanade in Singapore. Nearly 60,000 people have watched the show,” said Tiara in a teleconference from Tasmania, Australia recently.
“We are confident of our potential in producing PGLM3. We want to challenge ourselves by presenting PGLM3 in a different light,” said Tiara.
“It has always been my wish to bring the show back because it holds a special kind of magic that I have never encountered in any other piece during my career,” she said.
“We also gained crucial experience with our second musical adventure, P Ramlee, the Musical. With six productions behind it, the team is ready to push the limits.”
With regards to the invitation to stage PGLM in Japan, Tiara said: “We did receive the invite from Japan. But we are not ready to tour at the moment. Our aim is to entertain Malaysian audiences.
“We also have no plans to stage it in Singapore. But if there is opportunity, we will do it,” she said.
“Steven Rahman-Hughes will resume his role as Tuah and I will return as Puteri.”
However, Adlin Aman Ramlie, AC Mizal, Yalal Chin and Mohammed Afif Halim have yet to confirm their roles.
The play will be directed by Datuk Zahim Albakri.
“We are also glad to welcome back Roslan Aziz as the music director. He blew us away with his music compositions in PGLM in 2006. And if I know Roslan, something wonderful is already brewing for the new production,” she added.
Pat Ibrahim and Raja Malek also resume their roles as choreographer and set designer respectively in PGLM3.
“Pat was the first to tell me that he wanted to re-choreograph everything. As for Raja Malek, I am impressed with his designs,” she said.
Zahim said talks are still underway for the production.
“It will be challenging to add a fresh perspective to the production. Nevertheless, we are not planning to revamp the entire plot. We have been receiving support with the existing storyline,” he said in reference to any possibilities of changes in PGLM 3.
“But we aim to improve the standard and quality of the show,” he added.
“I have been toying with new ideas for the production. I am still in discussion with Adlin about it,” said Zahid, adding that Adlin has yet to confirm his status as co-director of PGLM3.
“We will start rehearsals in November as soon as Tiara comes back to Malaysia,” he added.
