The Niner pre-season is under way and a week from today the 49ers will take the field for the first time this season at MONSTER PARK against the Denver Broncos. I am juiced to see the niners take the field for the first time this season as i've read alot of good things so far this training camp. The niners this year are that sleeper pick that every analyst makes every season. I hope that doesn't jinxed them ... but damn with the kind of off-season that they had who's not to like their chances this upcoming season. I know i do and I know we're in for some exciting football.

Yesterday one of the greatest coaches in NFL history and one of the most influential and important figures of the 49ers organization past away succumbing to his battle with leukemia.

Bill Walsh brought the bay area and the SF 49ers a winning legacy. He brought us 3 championships and basically paved the way for the other 2. He brought a philosophy and offense that revolutionized the NFL and to this day is one of the most used and successful blueprints of many team offenses.

He groomed Joe Montana ... drafted Jerry Rice ... and got Steve Young from the Tampa Bay Bucs.

He changed the mantra of the whole 49ers organization and brought football in the bay area to its finest times.

He will be missed prayers and love to his family.

NFL ruling suits 49ers' coach: He'll get chance to honor dad

Partially because of the minor stir kicked up by fans with their blog postings and e-mails, the Mike Nolan suit conundrum has been solved.

The 49ers' coach will have the right to wear a suit on the sidelines for all eight of the team's home games this season. The decision on the part of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and official NFL supplier Reebok comes after Nolan said repeatedly that he wanted to wear a suit as a tribute to an earlier generation of coaches, which included his father.

In Nolan's case, Reebok is waiving a clause in its contract with the NFL that requires coaches to wear its team-logo apparel during games.

When Mike Nolan's father, Dick, 75, was the 49ers' head coach from 1968 through 1975, he wore a suit on the sidelines. Dick Nolan has Alzheimer's disease and is in a home for Alzheimer's patients outside Dallas.

"I would like to thank Commissioner Goodell and Reebok for allowing me to wear a suit at our home contests," Mike Nolan said in a statement. "As I mentioned before, I made this request out of the high amount of respect I have for the NFL, the San Francisco 49ers, my father and all of the former coaches who have worn suits."

Last week, Nolan reiterated his desire to wear a suit during home games, and said that Reebok wanted to let him do it only twice this season. Nolan and Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio were allowed to wear suits twice last year. Del Rio will also be permitted to wear a suit at home games.

On The Chronicle's 49ers blog and elsewhere, many fans said they were considering wearing suits in support of Nolan at the team's home opener Sept. 10.

Hey Ya'll and Welcome to this NINER FAITHFUL GROUP!!!

I must say I havent been this excited for the upcoming NINERS season in years ... It has been slowly building up ever since Coach Nolan took over the team and he's done a great job i must admit I really wasnt sure about him at first but boy he has brought excitement back to the bay for the NINERS ...

In an offseason where I was hoping and thinking we were goin to sign Adalius Thomas I must say im not mad that we went the route that we did considering the facts. We got the top cornerback and in some instances the top free agent of the offseason (if not the top he was #2 in some analyst opinions)To my knowledge Adalius was pursued by Nolan but he really did not want to re-locate his family to the west coast for whatever reasons. After the big signing we also signed solid players in lewis and banta cain ... lelie is a stretch but we're all hoping he gets back to form from his days with the denver broncos as a deep threat. Locking up both walt harris and FRANK GORE was huge and the contracts were fair and deserved. oOo and for those who think we gave too much money to Clements (8year/80million ... but really the contract is 7years/64million) i agree the guarenteed is alot (27 million i believe?) but I believe he gives our secondary legit respect and with him and harris who had a probowl year last year and spencer as the 3rd corner ... the NINERS defense is looking really good ... hey you got to spend money to make money right?

NINERS Draft .... many reports gave the niners As or Bs and many have them as the 2nd/3rd best draft with the Patriots and Browns being ahead of them. Before the draft happened I really wanted the niners to draft Patrick Willis in the first round and then hopefully grab WR Sidney Rice in the 2nd round ... Well half of my wish came true as we did grab Patrick Willis ... all reports is that he is one heck of a football player ... a BEAST on the field and a professional off ... some say the next ray lewis ... Althogh we traded up and got an OL in Joe Staley... and traded out of the 2nd round missing out on Sidney Rice and Dwayne Jarret ... in the 3rd wound we picked up WR Jason Hill ... some say could be the steal of the draft ... his stock dropped because of a poor Senior Year in which he was dealing with family problems but his potential displayed from his Junior Year leading the PAC-10 in TDs is impressive. Lastly the NINERS finished the draft strong by picking up WR Darrell Jackson from the seahawks for a 4th round pick! wow ...

I must say it looks like the niners are starting to re-gain that respect ... and now that have to make it work on the field ... It looks like they have the piece/personnel there ... now its learning the systems ... and really now more than ever ALEX SMITH must show us what hes capable of ... not only developing and improving more ... but just taking this team as his and being that leader that he was drafted #1 overall to be ...

cant wait for football to start ... fantasy football and more importantly NINER FOOTBALL!!!
