Description
Our Bio by honeyhoney (aka Suzanne Santo and Ben Jaffe)

Hello. Rock band bios are interesting things. Much of the time they are a laundry list of approximate comparisons, a few quotes from reputable sources, and a quick update on the current activities of the band. Change is in the air however. Inspired by the band Tenacious D and 70's game shows, we have decided to engage in a "Friendship Test" format: Ben will be answering for Suzanne and Suzanne will be answering for Ben. All band disputes will be settled privately. If you are disappointed, please direct your concerns to our management.

1. What is your musical background?

Ben: Suzanne learned how to sing from musical theater and was obsessed with Mariah Carey and Disney cartoon movie soundtracks. She sang "Part Of Your World" as her fifth grade choir solo while wearing a fin.

Suzanne: I believe it to be true that Ben Jaffe came out of the womb crying as most babies do, except his crying had rhythm and incredible pitch. In his adolescent years, young Jaffe started off in the percussion realm, playing the drums in various jazz bands and being way too cool for his age. He also had a mentor named Randy Kaye who taught him about the importance of the sounds he was creating.

2. Where are you from?

Ben: She's from Strongsville Ohio.

Suzanne: Ben was born in New York and lived there for a short time before heading off to the great state of Massachusetts.

3. How did you meet each other and when?

Ben: Through a mutual friend known as "The Double". "The Double" is a recording engineer I work with doing songwriting for other artists and TV shows. At the time Suzanne was acting and playing solo and “The Double” took me to see her. I thought she was foxy and eventually we started writing together.

4. Why are you a good team?

Suzanne: We're a good team because when we disagree on something, we physically beat the tar out of each other until someone yells uncle. I feel this is a quick and easy problem solver and that most bands should operate this way as it really helps create new vessels of creativity... just kidding. I think we're a great team because we respect the shit out of each other and are constantly trying to find ways to be better musicians and songwriters. We also have a lot of fun making music.

5. How would you describe your music?

Ben: Suzanne would say something along the lines of "Rocktastic" or "Freeky Deeky"

Suzanne: Ben would say that we are basically pop music.

6. What / who are your influences?

Ben: I think Suzanne sounds like a mix of Billy Holiday, Chrissie Hynde, and Jack Black.

Suzanne: Ben's influences are D’Angelo, Gershwin, Randy Newman, Brian Wilson and Satan.

7. What are your goals for being the band?

Ben: I think Suzanne just wants to be close to me. Also to be able to make all her own choices in terms of what she does with her life.

Suzanne: I think that Ben really just wants to keep writing great songs and to be able to sleep with as many women as possible while out on the road. He also wants to use music as a gateway for his professional basketball career.

8. What is the motivation behind your music / lyrics?

Ben and Suzanne (loudly, in unison): To tell a good story.

9. How / when do you write? Describe the honeyhoney songwriting process.

Suzanne and Ben: The honeyhoney songwriting process is as follows: Sometimes we write songs together, sometimes Ben writes songs on his own, and sometimes Suzanne writes songs on her own that she and Ben then work on together.

10. Do you currently have an album out? If so, tell us about it.

Ben and Suzanne: Our debut record entitled First Rodeo is coming out November 4th. We recorded it at Ironworks Studios with Jude Cole producing. Four of the songs are from our EP Loose Boots and seven of them are songs we've been working on and playing since we started the band. We had a ridiculously good group of players work with us in the studio and we feel that all the different ingredients combined to form an unexpectedly delicious rock sauce. We've never been more proud of something we've been a part of.

We hope this has been informative and useful, and if you buy / illegally download one album this year, let it be ours.

Hi all!

Honeyhoney will be opening for Augustana at the Sunset Strip Music Festival at The Roxy on Friday, September 11th. The doors are at 8:30. Hope to see you all there! It's going to be epic!

To friends and potential lovers of honeyhoney. Here is our week one tour log (as transcribed by el jefe).

Ben: This is an official road blog, because we are literally writing at the speed of 87 mph.

Suzanne: slow down Ben

Ben: ok grandma. So, the first three shows have been....

Suzanne: (interrupting) have been like a gentle lover that sometimes likes it rough

Ben: put that Suzanne interrupted me. We were joined in San Diego by Suzanne’s friend Kasey who through my shoe off of a six story balcony and almost got me arrested for indulging in anonymous contraband.

Suzanne: I would like to state that Ben needed a new pair of shoes anyway

Ben: These are my new shoes

Suzanne: well crap then. Can we change the subject yet? I would like to mention that I’m really quite proud of our new honeyhoney merchandise that is selling like futuristic hotcakes.

Ben: we are also happy to be joined by the queen of silverlake and the sixth beastie boy (wendy wang and mike g)

Suzanne: and ya don’t stop

Ben: so where are we going now, tucson?

Suzanne: I think so

Transcriber note: they are going to Scottsdale

Ben: So were not going to Tucson, huh?

Transcriber note: Tucson show is on Sunday night

Suzanne: I really miss Bruce Wayne, my cat

Ben: hopefully the Scottsdale crowd will be lubed and stretched by the time we get there

Suzanne: they are about to get sonically screwed like they have never been screwed before. What do we got so far, that might be a good blog?

Ben (picking nose): why don’t you go back to sleep.

Rah Rah Rah Friends and Lovers,

Last night, once again, the damn Steelers have won the Super Bowl... again.. For the second time... in three years... yay... great... I'm REALLY so happy for you Ben Roethlsberger. hooray...Santonio Holmes, that was a helluva 4th quarter catch... ( I still think it was all a sham, but you win... seriously)

Why so bitter Santo?? (you ask) What did the Steelers ever do to you??

I'm not bitter... I'm devastated... and it's not entirely the Steelers fault, however they are reigning rivals of my team, the Cleveland Browns... I'm not devasted over the Pittsburgh Steelers either. I won't give them that much credit... I'm devastated over my beloved Brownies...the little Super Bowl virgins who started off looking so great this year and then hit some kind of ugly, mid season pubescent stage, where their championship cherry just lost all hope of getting popped... they just couldn't find the hole and score...

It's amazing really. Being a Cleveland sports fan... I don't know how we do it. I mean, for the most part, the people are die hard. They show up. They paint their naked bodies in the dead of winter, they dress like saggy faced dogs and sit behind the goal line and yell crazy, crazy things and nearly every time ,they are left so utterly disappointed... and yet, they do it again and again and again.. and I stand with them... I will carry the torch for my Cleveland Brownies and Indians in the darkest of their hours.. That, my friends is true love. You think you have a great thing with your significant other?? You guys finish each other sentences and have great "chemistry." Well your heart strings don't hold a candle to the love Clevelanders have with their teams... bitches

Anyway... enough... I'M FINE!! really onward and upward! Go Indians! (and until we lose Lebron to Jay Z and other possible rappers that make him feel cool, Go Cavs!!)

On a positive note, Ben and I and the fabulous Wendy Wang played in San Diego this past Saturday and it was glorious. We had the opportunity to open up for James Morrison, who's vocal chords are like golden, smokey, marble race ways for sound to just come shooting out of and pummel you in the face with awesomeness. yea, he rocked it...
It was a really, really great crowd and I'm still really excited about how much fun we had. San Diego, you truly are classy...

Hope you are all feeling fine and nimble....

Love,

Lil Santo

Hey there party people of the cyberspace realm!

Today milestones have been carved out of the earth and history has been made this day by the inauguration of our dear President, Barack Obama. It is also the 24th anniversary of the day I was birthed... (Thanks Mom and Dad!!) And here I am... having mixed feelings of excitement for our first black president whom I'm a big fan of, and also of being a little insecure of turning the big 2.4.

and you say: WTF Santo! you're still in your god damn twenties! Quit yo jibber jabber

and I say: Nay! I can't quit my jibber jabber because it's my blog and I can type if I want to bitches.

No but seriously... It is so crazy to me that I'm 24 already. It feels like I was only 17 yesterday, anxious to turn 21 so I would have no further use for my fake I.D (aka. Virginia Stevenson from east New Jersey) .. I truly believe that once you're done with high school, your days go by faster and the weeks just throw you into months that whiz by like fastballs that you just can't put a bat to... I just remember when I was in school at Padua Franciscan High in Parma Ohio, each day seemed like a never ending saga of awkward walks down the hall, Spanish class being really fuckin hard, and never reaching my fullest potential in math class because it was right before detention and the boy that I liked was always in detention. god damn, those days were long...

And here I am... a blossoming young "adult," eager to fulfill my life long goals and develop into a sincere woman of wisdom who is also waiting for her A-cups to miraculously turn into B-cups.. (Time may have flown me far away from the boob coop, but I believe anything is possible, so don't knock on my pipe dream damnit)...

Anyway! my blog will be left short and sweet today as I have a bad ass birthday breakfast I am late for...

God Bless America and once again,, Mom and Dad....thanks for doin it!

Love,

Your friend Suzanne
