Description
Check out the 2007 Live Wild Tour page and share your own adventures!

INTO THE WILD is based on a true story and the best selling book by Jon Krakauer. After graduating from Emory University in 1992, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch) abandons his possessions, gave his entire $24,000 savings to charity and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters that shape his life.

Paramount Vantage Films, in association with NY-based entertainment agency UG STRATEGIES, has announced the "2007 Live Wild Tour" to support the movie adaptation of Into The Wild, in theaters September 21. The 2007 Live Wild Tour is a four-month summer road experience that goes into the wild throughout the United States in a branded 30-foot RV, stopping at major outdoor music & camping festivals, national parks, beaches, lakes, concerts, and regional events, to promote the release and spread awareness of several environmental causes. The entire experience is being documented via an online blog diary created in collaboration with imeem! Photos, videos, and blog entries will be featured from all events, including live outdoor music, interviews, and nature excursions.

David!

Thank you very much to let me watch this movie. It touched my soul and set my heart on fire! Hacia Rutas Salvajes is not only about the desire of Alexander Supertramp, but about life…
I’m glad our spirits could meet in Australia.
Hasta luego!

I cried a lot after I saw Chris(Emile) wrote "HAPPINESS ONLY REAL WHEN SHARED" and soon later died of starvation.
Because he did realize he was wrong about true happiness that he believed he could find through the solitude and wilderness.
And this kind of thing happens all the time to anyone.
You realize how important it was when you actually lost it.
For Chris, it was too late which made me cry more.

Wild spirit, philosophical bend of mind, confusion of the youth, hyperactive hormones, curiosity to know the truth, love of nature...may be all this gave him the courage to do this. May be at his age i would have done the same..i know a few selected people who might have done the same thing at Mcandless's age. But now i long left his age and still when i first read about Mcandless, i could identify the same fire burning deep inside me. As i pass through the 10 th hour of the day infront of my computer, hearing my beautiful wife humming a romantic song while making dinner in the kitchen...i stop to realize....brother...sad that you are gone. Yet you dared to find the truth of your life in nature and for us all with wild hearts that is the most admirable act. You are brave and your spirit will live on.

This movie would make for an excellent discussion in any social sciences or humanities college course. Every person who watches this or reads the book will have their own interpretation of what the learning experience behind Christopher's story - and that is a direct reflection of their own wisdom and ignorance.

I would venture to assume that most people go through a time in their life when they want to escape from American society's rituals - you're born with a SS number that ties you to our economic system, you get an education and (if you know what's best for you) a college degree in something that will guarantee landing a job, you take that job, you get married, you have kids, you work, you work, you spend lotsa money, you pay taxes, (eventually) you retire, you die... At least I would hope most people find themselves at some point with Christopher's initial mindset - they are at least intelligent enough to question society and "the system".

I feel like this movie (at least Sean Penn's presentation of the story) is about our growing discontent with our lives. We're constantly introduced from early on that we can do and be whatever we dream - but yet we're stuck inside the wheel of expectations and limitations of what dreams can be realities. It is only when we completely separate ourselves from society and all things familiar that we realize what is important. To my interpretation that is people. We are mammals. We are human beings. We're not meant to be in cages, but we're not meant to be alone in the world. No that doesn't mean you have to get up and get married and fit that mold. We do, however, have a need to communicate. As a "learning" species, we depend on the lessons of our predecessors to keep surviving. So even though we are frustrated with the structure of our society, we also come to find that we depend on it. For as intelligent as Christopher is portrayed in the movie, we are also exposed to his character's naivety and selfishness. Yes, he donated lots of money to charity. That further exposes that his interpretation of selflessness is limited to doing what society has deemed good - community service. What he didn't realize is that familial bonding and consistent connections with the people he meets and the relationships he establishes are also required in selflessness. Despite all of this, his ultimate goal was to find himself. I think sharing his story, especially today, is just one way Christopher was able to do a completely good and selfless act.

I could talk about this movie forever. That's how you know it's good.

I found the same bus a few days before in my last trip to "Land of Fire" in the Argentinian Patagonia. I was really shocked when I saw it. It was the same model and from the same year. Is there way that I can upload some pictures of my "magic bus"

Just want to thank whole team for one of the greatest films i have ever seen. I was explaining my girlfriend in start of the movie that ill had always secretly wanted to live alone in wild here in Finland.
Maybe it is better to forget it now because of what happened to Christopher. Eventhough Great Movie, great acting but not a great idea.
