Royalty Entertainment was first formed in 1999. The main members of this independent rap crew are, Quiz & Conscript, along with newly signed artist, J-Matic, Royalty Entertainment has become one of Canadas most recognized underground rap labels. As far as the sound and style of Royalty, theyre a mix of street knowledge and attitude, intellect and cleverness, very creative on any subject which is what makes them so appealing. Songs can be in your face raw, balanced by consciousness or slick metaphors by the different styles of each member. Royaltys influences include Dr. Dre, 2pac, Eminem, B.I.G, N.W.A and Wu-Tang. Certainly gifted with extraordinary talent, comes an inspiring rap group straight out of Canada.
Quiz made his debut appearance with Red Haze Entertainment in 2000. He was featured on Essex Courts album The Serum. Later on the following year dropping his first single, Standing Ground. Which was then distributed by Much Music. The video was then shot on 35mm film. Quiz performed at the NXNE 99 Festival, where the turn out was a success. He then made a startling appearance at the 2nd annual Bone Beach Bash, where attendance was estimated at over 80,000. This young talent has also been seen at the C.N.E in Toronto, for the annual Toronto Urban Music Festival Presented by Word magazine. He then jumped on the Ice Cold Tour, headlined by Canadas own Juno Award Winning Kardinal Offishall. Quiz has taken the stage with artists such as Jully Black, IRS, Mya, Bounty Killer, Born Jamericans, Michie Mee, Slim (from Boys II Men), Citizen Kane, Ghetto Concept. King Turbo, and many more.
The articulate & captivating songwriter/ Producer, Conscript, would find himself making ingenious and professional songs by the age fifteen. Now, more then ready. Conscript is prepared to change the entire Hip Hop scene for Canada. With such amazing production skills, Conscripts style of production can be compared to veteran producers. His work is original and versatile with universal appeal. Helping him gain confidence to pursue rapping came by from his close friend and now business partner, Quiz. Conscript has been fine tuning his talents by staying busy in the studio and helping new talent meet their goals. In the fast paced industry of Hip Hop, through out the years Conscript stayed well educated on every aspect of the culture, so he became a philosopher of the genre, which gave him an advantage to innovate easier in the right areas. J-Matic, recruited to the group by Conscript for his raw talent that fits perfectly with Royalty. J-Matic went to high school with Conscript where J-Matic began to show Conscript his true dedication and hunger towards the rap game which fuels Royalty in their progression. Matic has been a passionate fan of hip hop music for years and decided to make it a career move with the production of Conscript and would later find himself experimenting with beats himself, which soon later turned to professional ideas. Easy vocals that emphasize his raw flow and articulate visions exemplify his professionalism, and another reason why he is of Royalty. Being 1/3 of Royalty and 1/3 of The High Grade Suppliers, (Conscripts production company) he plays a vital role in both positions, just like Quiz and Conscript, hes ready to show the nation why it should embrace him.
