A Music Question...

Ok, so a lot of people I meet don't like music. Which is cool and everything...that's their choice.
Then I asked them why, and they were like, "Oh it's too much f**king cursing in it. I don't f**k wit music that got a lot of cursin in that muh-f**ker..."
Exact words.
I kinda looked at them like they had a screw loose, and I could've easily said something along the lines of, "Nigga you can't talk without cursin"... but I got to thinking.
Why do you listen to music?
For me, it goes deeper than just enjoying it. Sure, it's nice to listen to, but music does more for me than it does for most people I know. I love music. Without music, I don't know how I would've made it through a lot of hard times in my life.
When I can't escape from my situations in life, music helps me to forget about it. Music helps me to regroup and get my head on straight before I do something I have no business doing.
Music helps to calm me. Music puts me to sleep. Music wakes me up. Music ca change my mood. You ever been riding along in ya car (or whatever) and then your favorite song comes on the radio? For those three minutes or however long the song is, you forget about your problems.
Music is therapeutic. For the people that make it (correctly) and for the people that listen to it. Busta Rhymes - "Been Through The Storm" had a big impact on me because it's similar to what I've seen happen to a few of my friends, only they didn't survive when they got shot at and they didn't live to tell the tale.
Music is a part of life. Music can alter your moods (hyphy, crunk, blues). Music can take you to places and hoods that you've never visited and make you feel as if you came from there. Music provides insight on things you've never thought about. Music is inspired by life. Music influences almost everything you see on TV. You can't even have a TV show or a movie without music.
Music brings people together. Music is a relevant news topic. Music artists are under more pressure sometimes than business owners because of the fact that what they make can influence people. Music is something that everyone recognizes. Music is something that everyone can feel, whether they like it or not. Music is a part of life.
Music can help you to forget problems, but it can trigger memories too. Music has the power to lift you or depress you as soon as you hear it, without you even realizing that it's doing that to you.
I listen to music because....well, it's a part of my life. I wouldn't be me without my music.
Well...that's just me. What about you?
P.S: And yeah...I definitely called them on that music thing about the cursing... just so you know...

Current mood: creative
1) Coming To America (Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall) is the best movie....ever.
2) Ne-Yo might be the best R&B person out right now...until Usher gets back...
3) The Chronic 2008 (aka Detox) won't come out until we officially stop asking about it.
4) Timbaland is one of the best producers ever. If you think not, then you haven't heard his first album...
5) I'm new on Imeem, but I'ma beast with the music... holla at me, I won't turn down a new friend, ya dig?
6) Spiderman 3 was good, but the game sucks. Don't waste your money.
7) I love remixes....especially if they're good.
8) Lil Wayne is NOT the best rapper alive... but I'm lovin watchin this dude kill himself going for it...he's my third favorite rapper....
9) If someone sells the most records, gets on tracks with legends and kill them, and is humble about it for the most part....he should be the best rapper alive right? I mean, even if Eminem is white, he should be considered...
10) I'm on myspace (myspace.com/kingeljay) and blogspot (kingeljay.blogspot.com) so get at ya boi!
