Ok for those who haven't seen Sigur Ros Live.... DO IT!!!! I've been to so many concerts I sometimes forget what I've actually seen live, but I'll never forget a moment of this show. They play large venues and small theaters alike. Go to the small theater. It sounds better, is far more intimate, and there isn't any Deutsch bags that just showed up with their friends!

For the record there are many different dialects of Icelandic. So basically one Icelandic person may have no idea what another Icelandic person is saying (kind of like when I speak to some one from the deep south). On all of their albums except () they speak some form of Icelandic. On () they just used sounds that best fit the feel of the song. On the latest album/last song Jonsi (lead singer) actually sings in English. To be completely honest the English kind of kills it. It's nice to listen to a song that you can't understand the lyrics in. It forces you to pay less attention to what the singer is "saying" (which is usually pointless anyhow) and actually treat the vocals more like an instrument.

So in response to James Wolfe (see below) no. You probably wouldn't enjoy it more if you could understand it (at least one would hope not).

Oh yeah they also play with a four piece girl band named Amiina that totally rocks as well. They usually open for Sigur Ros and they play on most of the songs with them (they provide the string section). I'll see if any of their stuff is up here, and if not I'll post it. They aren't that good on CD, but live they are truly breathtaking.

I think I could right an article on Sigur Ros so I'll stop now. Sorry for the long post!

Would I like this more or less if I understood the words?

beautiful!

the beginning's really cute, lmao. everything about this song is nostalgic from when i first saw the trailer with this song. it's just so...amazing and striking. whenever i listen to this song i can see myself in the middle of a feild and there's a powerful gust of wind. there's also a carousel. kind of creepy but's whatever.

great song :)
