Harella Info:
Harella is her name and everything this feisty aries touches is golden. With her lusty, harmonic vocals, splendid and quite capable range she adds fresh vibrant flare to soca.

Harella is the second of five kids born to Charlesworth and Henrietta Georges in Marigot, Dominica. Until age seven, Harella resided at Dam Road, Marigot, Dominica with her parents and siblings before moving to Tortola, British Virgin Islands.

Shortly after her transition to the Virgin Islands (British), and following in the footsteps of her older sister, Harella began singing at public venues at age eight. She recalls her most memorable first time performance at the church her family attended where she did a rendition of Susan Best's 'No time for second best'. "It was the most exhilarating thing I ever felt. From that day I knew singing was what I wanted to do."

Harella's exposure to and love for music was not limited to one genre but ranged from Gospel, to Reggae, Pop, Calypso and Soca. This love drew her too a mixture of vocal styles and performing energies by artist such as Celine Dion, Lucky Dube, Whitney Houston, Michael Bolton and Gloria Estefan to name a few. The styles of these artist helped shaped Harella's unique style as we know it today.

After leaving High School Harella sought out different outlets to perform or create her own music. It was not until 2003 however, she was granted the opportunity when one of the Virgin Islands (British) best calypso bands 'Xtreme' was in search of a female vocalist. Though not versed in the world of calypso or soca at the time, Harella willingly jumped at the opportunity with much eagerness to learn and deliver beyond expectation.

And deliver beyond expectation she did. Finally her musical career took off and began to climb to the top. She went from local calypso performances to, performing 'wine on me' with Onyan of Antigua at a local release party for VP Records. She then shared the stage with some of the most accomplished female artists in the Soca industry, such as Allison Hinds, Denese Belfon, Destra Garcia, Michelle Sylvester, Denise Plummer, and Claudette Peters, male artist include regional and international acts such as Baby Cham, Machel Montano, Mr. Vegas, Shurwayne Winchester, Biggie Irie, I-Wayne, Krosfyah, Da Band and Jam Band, just to name a few.

Realizing a need to continue the legacy of Soca and Calypso through the generations yet to come, Harella began the quest of song writing. Her first song she co-wrote with her then Band Xtreme, "All About me" for their 2004 album Right in Time. The band went on and together they produced another successful hit 'Wuk You'.

In 2005 "Lonely Am I" debuted taking the Virgin Islands by force as it received maximum airplay at major radio stations. It was now evident 'Harella is not a seasonal artist (festival), as her songs were now played throughout the year. 2006 she dropped 'We Belong", an adaptation of Pat Benatar's original. If the message was not clear before, this song with its catchy hook "if you know how I feel you should wuk on my bumpa" firmly confirmed, this young lady (Harella Georges) has something remarkable to offer the music industry.

Her biggest recognition to date came in May of 2007 when she was named DIVA for the British Virgin Islands Music Festival where she performed alongside Denese Belfon, Destra Garcia and Allison Hinds.

With her remarkable vocal range, clarity, unique style and stage appearance, Harella is the artist to monitor in 2008, as she enters the industry like the eye of a storm, still and peaceful, then lethal when unexpected.

Look out for Harella's solo album slated for release in 2008, consisting of a combination between Soca, Zouke, Reggae and other surprise genres.
