This beautiful ballad of southern homelessness was written word for word in Crawford, Georgia in 1905 by my Great Grandfather, Henry Jake Tanner, and played on a tin faced Gibson. It was sung in two part, as a father to his daughter, with his backup and girlfriend Sarah Puckett. Thanks to whoever for bringing "Black Girl" out of the cold and back to life.
