Naledge Blog: Entry # 1
Posted in Naledge on Jul 17, 2007 at 11:41 PM

Hello World,

Although I am not really much of blogger, (I personally prefer living life to typing about it…) I thought that having the opportunity to use this as an outlet to express my feelings abut the things going on in my career and also as a way update the fans on the progress of my new projects was one that I would be stupid to pass on.

Most recently, I’ve been on chill mode (kinda at least..) at home in for the past week or so because I just came back from a 3 week visit to Europe doing shows with The Clipse. I really liked the scene out in Europe because they seemed to really appreciate the artistry entailed in writing hip hop songs.

Out there it really still feels like America in the 1990’s, when fans were still excited about going to the record stores to buy an artist’s album. On top of everything, it was really a trip to see people in the crowds mouthing the words to records that were only released on a mixtape level. It just let me know that there are people that appreciate hip hop from the heart and really identify with my story.

Though often when you open for someone, you rarely interact with them, the Clipse were actually an exception to that rule. Both Malice and Pusha were real cool and I really got the chance to build with them with them a bit and just soak up some of the experience they have as veterans in the game. Their crew member Ab Liva was also a really cool dude to get to know. Hopefully, I will be able to work with them in the future on a song or two.

Since I’ve gotten back to the states, I have just been trying to enjoy the comforts of home but I also have been back in the studio grinding with a capital G. I just recently recorded songs in NY with both Skyzoo and also with the legendary Camp Lo for the new Kidz in the Hall album, I did a joint with Royce the 5’9” for 9th Wonder’s solo project, I also created a song called “work to do” that may end up being a theme song for the Barack Obama presidential campaign and on top of all of that, I have been finishing mixtapes with both Shadyville DJ Sean Mac and also with Cleveland’s Mick Boogie. Suffice to say, I have been locking myself in the studio trying to grind out more music for the public to hear. Most importantly, I think I have finally found a record to lead off my solo record that is due out next year (you’ll be getting the inside on that next time...).

Truth be told, this entire year has been a real put up or shut up year for me. Being an artist on an independent label, my personal grind has really been tested and I have vowed that I would not rest until to people were given the chance to really feel me and the music I make. As Rhymefest once told me, “If you make good music, your music will always find a home.” I know in my heart I make good music and if I got to ride in a van to every city and do a show to prove that….trust me… I will…

And that is peace…for now…

Paz.
