blog post THE FINAL PARTY...

SUNDAY NIGHT:

It's 10PM:

Still 90 degrees with like 90% humidity. Brutal! Festival just ended and everyone is spent. Sitting outside of Debonair looking across the street @ The Double Door (awesome live music venue for those not familiar) marquee. Peter Bjorn & John about to do an after set over there. We have a killer closing party planned with the Chicago premiere of Weird Science (Steve Aoki & Blake Miller of Moving Units), the Dark Wave Disco DJ's, Supermodel: Agyness Dean, and MisShape & NYC it kid: Jacksonn Pollis, but with weather, the show across the street, and everyone exhausted, I'm hopping anyone is showing up.

12AM:

We've underestimated our crowd. Everyone has come out for one final bender. Place is insane! People crowdsurfing to Steve and Blake throwing down Justice's D.A.N.C.E. and spraying Colt 45 in the air. We are all in the booth next to them with Jacksonn, Chris Holmes, Danny Masterson, Agyness, etc. What a perfect end to a perfect weekend. It gets more rediculous. At like 1:15 in comes R. Kelley (bodyguards and entourage in tow). Sits in the booth in front by the window and jams out to Weird Science for the last hour. He even got up on the table swinging a towel around for the last 3 tracks they played (all his BTW).

2AM:

Far from over. For the 4th night in a row, everyone heads downstairs for another illegal afterparty. This place is gonna loose their licquor license if they keep this up. By 6, there are like 30 people left, I am palying "Common People" and Steve Aoki is so shitfaced he's laying on the floor on his back spinning himself around with his feet. I'm not that far away.

It's 7 AM and this super cute girl from Barney's is texting me, calling it a night...............

ALL THE GORY DETAILS AND PICTURES COMMING TOMORROW!!!!

THINK R KELLY
Okay, for some of us, festivals like Lollapalooza is more than just running from stage to stage and driving from afterparty to afterparty. It's about the adventures. Case in point: this photo highlight reel with a Chi-town adventure looking for the band, Illinois. This adventure took us from Sonotheque to a Comfort Inn at a unknown location with a really cool manager to another comfort Inn with a really bitchy manager...all this during a lighting storm and rain galore.

I don't know what's worse, the fact that I'm getting no sleep or the first band starting at 11:30 in the morning. Come on planners of Lollapalooza, haven't we learned anything, if someone like me goes to a party till 6am in the morning, then I may oversleep and miss a great band like the Cribs (yes i know they started at 12:15). So next year, can we make the schedule revolve around me?

Sunday was great, not only did I manage to catch the last song of Amy Winehouse but I managed to meet a lot of great artists while running from the media lounge to the artist lounge. For those who hasn't been keeping up with the videos on lollapalooza.imeem.com, quit reading this blog and go check out the videos. I just uploaded a video with Peter Bjorn (and John) and Lupe Fiasco. Go!

(did you watch the videos?)

Moving on. Before I went to the Moto Mindfield stage to watch Flosstradamus and Kid Sister, I managed to catch Mink with the one and only Perry Ferrell playing at the Moto Mindfield Stage; can you believe that? I mean I know he was advertised to play with the School of Rock but this is one of the smallest stages in the whole festival (smallest but the most fun stage). All I have to say is "amazing, the man behind Lolla is playing on a small stage." Personally, I would think that he would push himself on the main stage but this is 10x better than any headlining act (Pearl who?) Actually, I been seeing Perry Ferrell everywhere. He's like a omnipresent figure....but only during the weekend of Lollapalooza.
