Maria Katindig-Dykes

About

Description
Maria hails from one of the Philippines' most renowned family of musicians, the Jazz and Latin performers know collectively as the Katindig clan. (Her father is the legendary Pilipino Jazz pianist, Romy Katindig.)

In the family music business since the age of 16, Maria has performed a wide variety of musical styles, but her true passion is for jazz and bossa nova. In the Philippines, Maria’s credits include TV appearances and a stint with the Circus Band, a pop-rock ensemble selected to represent the Philippines at the Tokyo Music Festival in the 1970s. She has performed at Silahis International Playboy Jazz Club in Manila, and was the featured vocalist for 3 years at the Top of the Hilton in Manila before moving to Honolulu, Hawaii.

In Hawaii, with her husband, jazz pianist, arranger and composer, Jimmie Dykes, she formed Pacifica, a jazz ensemble that performed for an extended run at the Hyatt Regency’s exclusive Jazz Supper Club, Nutmegs, in Singapore.

Maria has also left a mark as a local artist in the Southern California region with performances at the Silver Screen Jazz Club at the Hyatt on Sunset in Los Angeles, CA, alongside internationally renown jazz artists Tal Farlowe and Barney Kessel.

Her first U.S. solo album, NO MORE BLUES, will be released on October 30. Listen here for previews!
