Emerging out of the heart of Los Angeles' Crenshaw District, is Mecca Dawn, the ruggedly soulful Hip Hop / R&B Diva Emcee. Bringing a brand new flava to West Coast music, her style is a fusion of hypnotic melodies and hard-hitting lyrical content. Some may find it hard to believe that there is room for her brand of sultry lyrical agressiveness, but she's quick to prove she's a dynamic force breaking through the barrier to make a mark all her own.
In 2002, she gave us a taste of her melodic vocals on "Gotta Be", a smooth hip hop track featured on the underground mixtape release "Stylefornia", alongside emerging West Coast artists Lifestyle. It was this track that first introduced her soulful brand of r&b. Mecca Dawn was also featured on LIFESTYLE's 2003 release "Liquid Cocaine" displaying her seductive and sultry flava on "Want That". It was in 2004 that she finally gave the game a taste of her raw and grimey side featured on the "Stylefornia 2: The Movement Mixtape" with the debut of "Speaker Wire", giving an uncut version of lyrical creativity and rawness.. Again showing off her versatility, she showed her love for the West Coast on "California" featured on "Stylefornia 2" with LIFESTYLE, which was also showcased on Snoop Dogg's "Welcome to the Chuuch...Vol. 8" Mixtape. Performing alongside label mates LIFESTYLE, at a host of venues such as The House of Blues, Goodfellas, Tifecta, as well as shows featuring Nate Dogg, RBX, and Domino,
Recently in 2008 she was featured on "Gimme That" with Fly Society and on various songs on HIT's "The Born Supremacy" street album, as well as "Heat of the Moment" w/ the legendary Debbie Harry of Blondie.
Mecca Dawn is on the fast track to creating a buzz on the streets, as well as making an impact on the industry with her unique stylings.
