Hakim Shaheed Muhammad Jr. is an American musician, producer, and actor. As a child, he was always lauded for his musical talents. He showed an early interest in music, mainly percussion.
During junior high, Muhammad showcased his knack for writing poetry. He would write stanza after stanza during his classes to pass time. His friends saw his ability to write and encouraged him to rap with the other kids during lunch. He would go back and forth with the other aspiring rappers for the entire duration of the lunch period, showing off his lyrical prowess. As a result, his class mates praised his efforts and the word spread throughout his school.
While in high school, Muhammad began recording his music. He began creating his own beats and engineering his own recordings. He became one of the few "self-produced" artists in his area. He was only 16 years old when he recorded his first song titled All For The Presidents. This song became popular among his class mates and he eventually released the song to the mass public through the internet. In 2007, he began piecing together songs that would make up his independent debut, Adolescent Perspective. The original album held 15 songs. However, after many changes in concepts, the album was narrowed down to 11 songs. The album was mixed down and finished in December of 2008. The Lp was released online May 12, 2009.
The name "MikaH" was derived from his real first name, Hakim. He found that there was also a prophet named Micah in The Bible and stuck with that name. He originaly called himself Mikah the Prophet. He later changed it for personal reasons and was billed as Mikah Muhammad before later changing his alias to MikaH. The m and the h in his name are always capitalized, representing the begining and end. This also helped his friends identify him when he first appeared in the public eye under his alias.
Muhammad has started work on what will be his second album and his final autobiographical album.
MikaH is also the drummer of the rock band, The Lament. They are now known as Tragedy Called Truth.
