From Highbrid Nation (http://highbridnation.highbrid.com/?p=3695):
Critics are raving about West’s Graduation - and its already sold 200,000 more units than Fiddy’s Curtis since yesterday’s same-day release in the US. Fifty appeared on New York’s Hot 97 “Miss Jones in the Morning Show” and suggested that Kanye’s Label Roc-a-fella/Def Jam actually purchased 200,000 copies of the album in an attempt to make Kanye look like the winner.
I could definitely believe the Def Jam thing. They are notorious for that move thats why all there artists always have a huge first week and then following weeks sales sharply decline. I have both albums I’ve listened to all of Curtis and about half off Graduation. I’ll say this Kanye is supposed to outsell 50. Kanye appeals to a larger audience, he’s non threatening, and he’s a closet queen this description fits more than half the worlds population. As far as the albums are concerned Fifty has a solid album but you really feel like theres nothing particularly new, he has a method for making songs and he doesn’t mess with that formula at all. “AYO Technology” is a little stretch for him but thats about it. The individual songs themselves are hot but again it feels like something you’ve heard from fiddy already. Kanye’s album or what I’ve heard so far is a very well produced album but the tempo and energy of the album is way to laid back and slow for me. In addition to that his rhyme style is very juvenile and basic abc 123 raps I call them, and I heard this guy uses ghostwriters. (Dogs you actually pay people to write those raps for you thats crazy holla at my dogs Dos Un he’ll pen some proper rhymes for you) Just off of tempo and my personal preference I have to run with Fiddy but Kanye will definitely sell more units, especially if def jam keeps buying them, but he’s supposed to. 50 is the bad guy the bully, the one everyone loves to hate.
