Our country has been a little bit different as compared to yours.

Most of us in Malaysia finish our secondary (or known as high school) in the age of 17.
Because most of us enter primary schools when we're 7 years old
and study for 6 years (which is until about 12 years old.)
And then is secondary school when we're 13 and compulsory study for 6 years again.
So, after all we're already 17. Hehe....
That's why we face university or college life later than you neh?
