Name of Album:Testimony: Round 2
Artist: J Holiday
First Song I Heard: Its Yours
First Impression: "Nice"
Favorite Songs: See Below
Rating: 7.5/10

I like J Holiday and I really wanted to love this album but it just didn't do it for me. None of the songs are bad, but I feel like he has potential to do much better. The songs just arent up to par with my past favorites of his, Bed & Suffocate. I feel like the beats, although they are hot, are just so overpowering. I had to struggle to hear the lyrics while I listened to some of the tracks.Nevertheless, this is a very decent sophmore album. I think I wasnt expecting too much. And well, can you blame me? Now just because I rate this album a 7.5 doesn't mean there were no really good tracks. I do have my favorites, which I think he did a GREAT job on.

Favorites:
I'm Yours, Sing 2 U, Make That Sound

It's Yours is catchy. Sing 2 U makes me smile. The title, and how he mentions titles from other r&b songs.&& Make That Sound has a nice beat and is sexy.

I can see how people will love this album though. I don't think it will disappoint many people. I would recommend it. I just wasn't feeling it that much. Still a fan though!

I know this album was released in 2006, but I had never taken the time to sit down and listen to every song until now. I've been a fan of Tamia for years. Her song "Stranger in My House" remains one of my favorites to date. And "Officially Missing You" was my heartbreak anthem. I also like many other songs such as Falling For You, and This Time It's Love so I knew her latest had to be great. And I was not disappointed on first listen. 2nd, 3rd...and the 9th time I played the album. It stays on repeat.

I LOVE the album cover. The colors are so pretty, she looks lovely, and I like the pose. I also like the name of the album, though I don't really understand its relation to the songs.

Tamia did a wonderful job on this album. It is now one of my favorites. To be honest, I wasn't expecting to like the songs on her as much as her old songs. I mean artists tend to get a little uh...off...after their first big hits. Their vocals either get better or worse. Or their songs don't have as much appeal as they once did. I was very pleased with the songs on this album. Still the same beautiful, creative, Tamia. That girl probably keeps track of my life or something because Its amazing how much I can relate to her songs. These songs all have great hooks, good message or both. I like how she talks at the end of a few of the songs. I think its a great touch and helps you know a little more about her spirit.

Man, I was sooo pleased to see that she did a remake of Aretha Franklin's "Daydreaming" I love that song. It's always stuck in my head. Her remake sounds great. I love it. Usually I favor the original artist's version but she definitely gives the Queen of Soul a little competition.

The album doesn't seem to have one theme. Some songs refer to female empowerment. Others refer to heartbreak. And the rest refer to desiring someone. Pretty common themes in R&B but the songs definitely song original. The song "Me" is so beautiful. It makes me feel better about yourself. Ive learned to never make a man make me feel less than I am and that the message I get from this song. "When a Woman" and "Love & I" refer to frustrations or giving up on love or someone. We've all felt that way. Anyway, let me wrap it up by mentioning my favorites.

Favorites:
Almost, Me, Can't Get Enough of You, My First Last Kiss, Daydreamin', Protect My Heart, Love & I

With ALLLLLLLLLL of that said, lol, I'll end by saying that the album is excellent.

First off, she looks gorgeous on the album cover. And she looked amazing in "The way that I love you video" Go 'head girl! Now about the album..good stuff. I actually like most of the songs on this album, and that doesnt happen often o.O She sang most of the songs herself which really impresses me.

I get this whole "Girl Power" vibe from this album. I dont know why. Maybe I sound foolish saying this, but it's kinda inspiring..And that song "shine" is just beautiful Listening to it makes me feel better about myself. "Mother" is really sweet. It makes me think about my mom. Songs like "Switch" & "Good Good" are where I get the whole girl power/ domination/ in control vibe comes from. "The way that I love you" is intense. Makes you think.

My favorites though?:
Switch, The Way That I Love You, So Over You, Girlfriend, Good Good, Body on Me

In short, Im really impressed. Too bad there are only 13 songs on it. I want more. lol.

Okay, so what do I think about this album? I think it's good. To be honest, I expected it to blow me away, but it didn't. There are some HOT songs on this album, and of course there has to be..It's Usher. He's a beast at what he do! But I guess I expected more from this album.
Fave Songs?:

Trading Places, Moving Mountains, Love in this Club part two

To wrap it up, Usher still has it but it's just not as good as Confessions, in my opinion. I guess my expectations were just too high. But overall, not bad at all.
