“I’ll never be the person you want me to be.” –March of War
Perhaps more fitting words have never been sung by Nonpoint frontman Elias Soriano on the bands new hit single, “March of War” from their latest studio release, “VENGEANCE”. Conceived nearly ten years ago, Nonpoint has seen it all: the life and death of several genres and trends, the rise and fall of countless “next big things”, and have experienced two separate major label deals dissolve. Nonpoint has not only survived, but thrived through it all.
The band seems to have drawn the blueprint for indie label success with their ever-evolving musicianship, die hard fanbase, astounding work ethic, and one of the greatest, live shows in hard rock music today. They have shared the stage with the likes of Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Mudvayne, Staind, Disturbed and Stone Sour, along with being apart of some of music’s biggest festivals, including Ozzfest and Warped Tour.
Within the past two years, Nonpoint has shattered new doors by having their music enter the world of television and film, most notably with their version of Phil Collins’, “In The Air Tonight” prominently featured in the box office hit, “Miami Vice” as well as its accompanying soundtrack. In addition, Nonpoint have seen their music used in TV campaigns to promote the Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez’ movie, “Grindhouse” and the “Stone Cold” Steve Austin action extravaganza, “The Condemned”. Nonpoint has also thrown its hat into the wrestling ring by partnering with pro-wrestling mega giants, the WWE for a special pre-Wrestlemania performance that featured appearances from the WWE’s biggest superstars. In recent months, the band has further solidified their relationship with the entertainment giant by having their new track, “Everybody Down” added to the 2008 edition of the WWE’s flagship video game Raw Vs. Smackdown. This should come as no surprise to fans of the 2007 edition as Nonpoint had their tracks “Bullet With A Name” and “Alive and Kicking” included. Along with their recent strides into mainstream media, Nonpoint has continued their presence in professional sports, having their music featured in broadcasts of every major professional sports league on such networks as ABC, ESPN, NBC and more. Furthermore the band has been adopted by the NHL’s Florida Panthers, performing several times at the team’s games and events, as well as having their song “Bullet With A Name” used as the Panthers nightly rally song.
Following the release of their widely acclaimed, “TO THE PAIN” (2005) with the break-out single “Bullet With A Name”, the pressure to create a successful follow-up might be daunting to some artists, but for Nonpoint, it is simply a matter of moving forward. In late 2007, they entered Bieler Bros. studios to co-produce “VENGEANCE” with Matt LaPlant (SikTH), only to deliver their boldest and most aggressive effort yet. Not to be outdone by previous radio success, the lead single, “March of War” has quickly become the fastest rising Nonpoint single ever, debuting on the active rock charts in only its first week of release and entering the top 30 in only 3 weeks.
