So... The Roots brought out Weezy at the Fillmore in Miami. They did "A Millie." It was hilarious, bizarre and shocking, all at the same time.

Not to mention the crowd went absolutely apeshit.

A Milli - The Roots (ft. Lil Wayne)

I mean, I know most of the seperations of hip-hop artists (underground, mainstream, etc) are fan made. But still. Like, if Jay-Z comes out at a Roots show, it's "OH SHIT!!!", but it's not shocking, since The Roots and Jay-Z have a working history. Same can be said for most of the artists The Roots have brought out over the years.

But I guess I always (naively) assumed someone of Lil Wayne's stature (he has the best selling album of any genre in the last several years) to not have any idea who The Roots are. So seeing him come out, rock it, give props to ?uesto and then hug Black Thought... it was just weird.

And quite awesome, I might add.

Luckily, Weezy spared us the guitar playing.

Man, that was a nice collab on that one.

What do you mean Lil' Wayne wouldn't know who The Roots are?? Are you friggin crazy?

If anyone of you knew who Wayne was for real you'd know that he respects all genres and artists. I mean take Shooter for example. Did the vast majority of America even know who Robin Thicke was when that came out?

Anyways, the beat The Roots had goin' with Waynes flow made this little song vicious. They need to work on some studio stuff together.

I'm an old hip hop head and an Okayplayer Charter member.

If we are going to say,"Lil Wayne don't know nothing about real Hip Hop or The Roots", then it turns out that he does know or HE WANTS TO KNOW, then who are we to complain?

Though I can't tolerate much of Lil' Wayne, he is one of the ONLY young ones to come out and acknowledge the Legendary Roots Crew.

It's like getting mad that your kid FINALLY picks up your records and decides to rhyme over them!
