About

Description
SEAN COMBS, the CEO and founder of Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment Group is a multifaceted entertainment powerhouse. Sean “Diddy” Combs was recently declared “One of the Most Influential Businessmen in the World” by Time Magazine and CNN. Combs, 36 oversees one of the world's preeminent urban entertainment companies, encompassing a broad range of businesses including recording, music publishing, artist management, television and film production, recording facility, apparel and restaurants.

Music has always been at the heart of his career. He is a recognized producer, solo artist and performer, who has produced chart-topping hit songs for music superstars including Aretha Franklin, Sting, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, Janet Jackson and the Notorious B.I.G. Combs, has also released four multi-platinum albums and won his third Grammy Award for the #1 song “Shake Ya Tailfeather” from the Bad Boys II soundtrack, which he executive produced. In 2006, Diddy released Press Play, his hugely anticipated follow up album which debuted at the top of the charts awarding him the number one album in the country.

Sean’s success in music has translated into a collection of business including the screen. With television, Diddy and MTV have always had a special relationship beginning with his famous videos and show stopping VMA performances. In June 2003, Diddy teamed up with MTV to find the next big hip hop group with Making the Band II which aired for three seasons. Diddy brought a new installment of the now hit show with Making the Band III in spring 2005, when he was in search of an all girl group. Diddy has also entered into a first-look, overall production agreement for future television projects with MTV which to date includes the mega-hit show, Run’s House. Combs will continue to provide executive producer services in connection with developing, supervising, producing, consulting and possibly appearing on potential MTV branded programming.

Acting is fast becoming an important ingredient in the burgeoning empire of Sean Combs. Beginning with his acting debut in the film “Made,” Combs also appeared in the highly anticipated prequel “Carlito’s Way: The Beginning” directed by Brian De Palma and went on to receive critical acclaim for his supporting role in “Monster’s Ball” opposite Halle Berry. Furthermore, he made a successful Broadway debut starring in the lead role of Walter Lee in the classic Lorraine Hansberry tale, “A Raisin in the Sun.” In 2008, Combs was the lead actor in and executive-produced a television adaptation of the acclaimed play for ABC Network which was nominated for three Emmy Awards. Adding to his roster of television ventures, Diddy joined the HBO family in June 2005 with the series “P. Diddy Presents the Bad Boys of Comedy” which features the hottest up-and-coming urban comedians performing in front of a live audience.

Not only has Combs made an indelible mark on the worlds of entertainment, he continues to break new ground in the fashion industry. Since the inception of his label, Sean John Clothing, Combs has been praised for his innovative and sexy approach to fashion. His efforts were recognized in 2004 when he was awarded the prestigious “Perry Ellis Menswear Designer of the Year Award” from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). Additionally, Combs launched his first fragrance, “Unforgivable” in 2006 with cosmetics giant Estee Lauder which quickly became the number one selling fragrance across America followed by “Unforgivable Woman” in 2007 and I Am King in 2008.

Also in 2007, Sean partnered with Diageo for a groundbreaking strategic alliance to oversee and manage all branding and marketing initiatives for Ciroc Vodka.

Combs is a proud father to sons Justin, Christian, Quincy and twin girls D’Lila Star and Jesse James.

blog post Vibe.com: A Short Convo with Dawn & Kalenna
Category: Live Events
Posted: Oct 26, 2009 at 9:27 PM
Vibe.com caught up with Dirty Money's Dawn & Kalenna to talk about the album, the group, & working with Diddy. Check out a peek below, and head over toVibe.com for the full interview!

VIBE: Diddy's compared the group to B.B.D. and Prince and The Revolution. Do you have anyone that you'd liken yourselves to?
Kalenna: He says Jodeci, but I don't think I could compare it to anything I've ever heard. It started off with a blueprint, Loose Ends, Soul II Soul and things like that. But then it kind of evolved into something that I haven't heard before.

Last Train to Paris is a story of lost love. Can you describe it a little further?
Dawn: It's the woman's point of view. Puff had an idea of finding love, losing love and finding love again as a storyline, but he just didn't want one perspective. We tell the opposite side and make the love story complete as narrators. We can relate to the story. If they split up, what is she thinking? So it's through the eyes of both parties.

So you guys are doing everything from being affectionate to yelling at him?
Dawn: Oh yeah. And loving him. All of that. It's our whole journey together.

Ladies, you two are professional singers. Diddy's more of an entertainer. What's it like to watch try to sing?
Dawn: It's beautiful. His work ethic is amazing. He doesn't stop until the note sounds how it's supposed to sound. And it's not like, "Oh, I'm going to make this note sound perfect." It's the emotion. The emotion has to be perfect and match to the vocals of the song. And I think he's executed that so well. If anything, we're learning from each other. We'll do it 300 times. Just because we see how hard he works. People are going to be pleasantly surprised. Especially if you don't look at him as a singer, but as an instrument, someone evoking an emotion and making it visual.

blog post Diddy & Jimmy Fallon Slow Jam the News
Category: Live Events
Posted: Jul 29, 2009 at 6:13 PM
Somehow, while nobody was paying attention, Jimmy Fallon became something of a hip-hop lightning rod in the hip-hop community, and his show "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" has become a haven for rappers who just want to have fun. Of course, Fallon recruited the Roots as his house band, which has been a deft move, as not only is the music on the show largely great but they've also reached out to their friends for some after-hours jams (last week, Wale sat in with the group and freestyled his way through an excellent show). Last night during Fallon's monologue, the host busted out a recurring segment called "Slow Jam the News." Normally, it involved Fallon whispering news segments while the Roots' Tariq "Black Thought" Thompson sings the jokes. But last night, Fallon got an assist from Diddy on a remixed version of the news.

Fallon, Thompson and Diddy combined to deliver a hilarious take on Barack Obama's sluggish polling numbers. Later in the show, Diddy sat down to talk about his new MTV show "Making His Band," his vodka (he shared his recipe for the "OG Diddy," which combines Ciroc with lemonade and Welch's grape juice), his production history, his fragrance ("Men gotta smell good, too") and his upcoming album Last Train to Paris, which he promised "will make you dance, make you groove and make you love your woman better." When you look at Jimmy Fallon, you don't necessarily think, "Yep, there's a guy who knows the vibe of the streets," but so far his taste in hip-hop and his willingness to embrace it in late night (not something often seen) has made his show a must-watch for any rap enthusiast.
