Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

We Christians have this promise, that if we will send forth the Word of God, it will

not return empty. It will do what God pleases and it shall prosper.

This verse gives me hope when it seems all my teaching, preaching, and publishing is not accomplishing anything. Have you been there? Have you worked in the Christian way with no apparent gain? Well, let’s not give up. We have this promise that it will “prosper”. We might not see it prosper but we can rest knowing we have been obedient unto God and our calling. That is the two things God requires, believe and obey. If we can only believe all things are possible. If we will only obey we will please God and He has promised to pour out the riches of heaven.

Glory! I feel like shouting now! Look up, Jesus is coming soon.

CHANGE YOUR MIND

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.
(ROMANS 12 : 2)

What must happen for the kingdom of heaven to come? Renew your mind according to the Word of God.

Christians sometimes sing, "When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be!" Why wait? You are in the kingdom of heaven right now! Rejoice! When you change your mind, you also change your attitudes and your actions. You responses change. When life gets tough, start rejoicing instead of rebelling. When difficulties arise, start praising instead of protesting.

You are a child of the King. Begin to think like a King's kid. Instead of praying for the rapture when trouble comes, transform woeful thoughts into words of faith: "Things may look bad, but I am in the center of God's perfect will for my life. I am a citizen of heaven, seated in heavenly places together with Christ Jesus. The kingdom has come because the King has come!

JESUS, RENEW MY MIND. CHANGE MY ATTITUDES AND MY ACTIONS. RENEW AND CONFORM ME TO YOUR IMAGE THAT MY EVERY WORD AND ACTIONS WILL PROCEED FROM YOU. AMEN.

CALLING DISTANCE

But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us.
(2 CORINTHIANS 1 : 9-10)

Remember the times God has set you free, the times He has moved on your behalf, and the times He has come through when it seemed no answer would or even could come.

He is not going to begin failing you today. He will answer your prayers today, because He never changes. God will turn your tragedy into triumph and your trial into a testimony when you trust and depend upon Him.

Dependence on Him is not defeat; dependence is simply staying in constant contact. Trusting God means realizing He is the source of your deliverance, and then staying within calling distance of Him.

JESUS, YOU ARE THE SOURCE OF MY DELIVERANCE, MY HEALING, AND MY RESTORATION. I WILL STAY CLOSE TO YOU SO THAT I MAY HEAR YOUR VOICE AT EVERY TURN AND THROUGH EVERY SITUATION. AMEN.

Galatians 6:9

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Paul reminds his readers that rewards are certain, but not immediate. One does not harvest a field of wheat the day after it is sown. Likewise, in the spiritual realm, rewards will follow faithful sowing in due time.

The apostle has argued at length that such works cannot justify (2:16) or sanctify (3:3) anyone. However, good works are, in fact, an important fruit of the life of faith (5:5) that God has planned for each believer (Eph. 2:8-10).

What appears bad may be God's plan for good

"I am Joseph!" he said to his brothers. "Is my father still alive?" But his brothers were speechless! They were stunned to realize that Joseph was standing there in front of them. "Come over here," he said. So they came closer. And he said again, "I am Joseph, your brother whom you sold into Egypt. But don't be angry with yourselves that you did this to me, for God did it. He sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives. These two years of famine will grow to seven, during which there will be neither plowing nor harvest. God has sent me here to keep you and your families alive so that you will become a great nation. Yes, it was God who sent me here, not you! And he has made me a counselor to Pharaoh—manager of his entire household and ruler over all Egypt."

Genesis 45:3-8 NLT

About this week's promise
Homespun wisdom says, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." Although you won't find it put just that way in the Bible, you will find many stories of both effective and poor planning. The Bible teaches that God is a God of both purpose and planning. His purpose is to draw all humanity to himself in order to forgive and redeem. His plan—from Creation, to the Law, to the Prophets, to Jesus and the church—is what we are seeing when we read and study the Bible. Planning is part of all of our lives. The only question is if, in all our planning, we ever consult his perfect and eternal plan.
