movies
We made our first movie this is "Wishing stairs" this is the third in the South Korean high school horror trilogy, and my personal favourite, with Whispering Corridors and Memento Mori coming 2nd and 3rd. The movie revolves around 28 steps leading up to a high school girl's dormitory. But there's also a legend. "If the 29th step appears, it'll grant your wish. ... If you wish really hard, the fox will listen out of pity." So says Kim Soh-wee to her friend Yoon Jin-Sung. Both are high school students at the Yonghwa Art Institute, a specialized art school. True, the fox may grant a wish, but a backlash in the form of tragedy and terror occur as a result, with the wishing student meeting death. All that's due to the competition and jealousy that flare up at a specialized art school.Soh-Wee is pretty, friendly, lively, and a kind of leader that other students look up to. She's also generous, as she buys concert tickets for herself and Jin-Sung, ditching school, and also the only one to be nice to Uhm Hae-Ju, a rather porky girl whom everyone else teases. However, Soh-wee is also the prima ballerina at school, and when the 26th Seoul Ballet contest arrives, with only one student allowed to nominate the school, despite the teacher Ms. Muhn's assurances of a fair audition, it's basically an audition in name only. But as Ms. Muhn says, the role of Giselle (in Adolf Adamson's Giselle and Albrecht) requires one to convey a lot of emotion, which is no problem for Soh-Hee.As for Jin-Sung, she's a bit shy, sort of uptight, isn't that good at ballet, and is clearly overshadowed by her prettier friend. She wants to win just once, and she falls prey to jealousy. She climbs the stairs and guess what she wishes for? For her, the backlash occurs when Soh-Hee, whom she was in a tussle with, commits suicide. Despite winning the competition, Jin-Sung is hated by her peers. The fat and unpopular Uhm Hae-Ju aspires to be a sculptor, as she even made a replica of the wishing stairs. But her disconnect with the real world prevents her from making friends, and in her loneliness and boredom, she eats. Her trip up the stairs results in dramatic weight loss, but being distraught over Soh-Hee's death reverses her condition. And she's also prey to the nasty Han Yoon-Ji, who's determined to win an art competition with her sculpture.Comparing the warm friendship Soh-Wee and Jin-Sung had at the beginning to the destruction of that warmth is shattering, as Soh-Wee feels hurt and betrayed by her friend's jealousy, especially when Jin-Sung says she hates her and that she makes her feel miserable. It's almost as if they were a couple, with more feminine Soh-Wee being the romantic and loving wife. She even expresses the wish when they turn 20, to live together in an apartment. What was her wish on the stairs? That she and Jin-Sung would always be together. But alas...There are particular chapters in this film, beginning when a student goes up the stairs, and ending with the aftermath. Scary moments? There are the brief flashes of Soh-Hee dancing around, but what about when the shower water suddenly turns to blood? And there is a Ringu-inspired scene of a white-robed girl climbing through a window. As the prettiest Korean actress I've ever seen, Park Han-Byul is the glittering jewel of Wishing Stairs as Soh-Wee. Jo An steals the movie, where she gives a comical touches as Hae-Ju, from the funny sounds she makes to the way she runs or waddles off. But she gets Soh-Hee's facial expressions and footwork down when Hae-Ju is possessed by Soh-Hee.I note similarities between Wishing Stairs and W.W. Jacobs' short story "The Monkey's Paw," where fate is a theme. In the latter, a father is given a monkey's paw that'll give him three wishes. He wishes for 1) a large sum of money, 2) the return to life of his young son-whose death resulted in the company giving the money-and 3) that everything would be back to normal again. Well, the second and third wishes also are present in Wishing Stairs.A brilliant cast, tight acting, and superior production values make Wishing Stairs a great, scary, but ultimately tragic story. And my second movie is "Destiny"...I don't have any description..hehe...And my Latest movie "Fate"..I had appeared with my image of a grown-up woman in Fate.In this movie, I play "Eun Young" who is a girL unintentionaLLy faLLing into the spiraL of four young men played by Song Seung Hun, Kwon Sang Woo, Ji Sung and Kim In Kwon. Therefore, she has had a non-outLet Life.SpeciaLLy, I had drop out her young woman image before to play a grown-up woman who has an empty Look and a cigarette which is always on her Lips.I said "Through this work, I had a chance to try my skill with a compLeteLy new acting styLe" ...I had reaLLy appreciated and tried my best to get the best resuLts. At the film studio, I reguLarLy asked for re-fiLming if I feLt those scenes did not reach the fuLfiLLed requirements. Therefore, I got a nickname "once again girl" by the backstage staff ...Thanks for those who loved and supported FATE!That's aLL!!
tv shows
My first TV show is the "My Fair Lady"..aLso known as the perfect girL...The show began with Min Kyung, a fresh high school graduate. She worked in a liquor restaurant to pay off her father's gambling debt. However, Min Kyung borrowed some money and ran away, hoping to find a rich man as her spouse.Min Kyung was seen working as a stewardess at Korean Airlines three years later. She was known for being materialistic, especially for the men she chose. During this time, she frequently had blind dates with two or three men at a time, many of whom were her co-workers.Min Kyung fell in love with Young Ho on one blind date. Min Kyung mistook Young Ho for a member of the Yacht Club, an association that only allows the richest people in South Korea to join.Young Ho is the son of a poor family that made a living selling rice cakes, and worked to pay off debts left behind by his late father. In the blind date Young Ho fell in love with Min Kyung, because she looked exactly like his dead girlfriend. Min Kyung later learnt about his background and returned to Dongku, her old boyfriend. Tongkui made a wedding proposal during this interim. In the course of time, Min Kyung realised that happiness does not necessarily come in money, and eventually returned to Young Ho. This results in jealousy and hatred in Dongku, who is unable to overcome feelings on seeing Min Kyung and Young Ho dating.A jealous Dongku wanted to lay his hands on Young Ho upon learning that Young Ho wanted to be employed in his father's company (who was working as a boss with another partner). Dongku took his revenge by beating up Young Ho in a carpark, as an "agreement" to receive a job in the company. Young Ho later encountered more difficulties from Dongku before he worked as a low-profile worker upon attaining a job.Dongku's father, whose partner is a co-boss of the electronics company, is the illegitimate father of Young Ho, so Young Ho was conceived out of wedlock. (The drama never showed Young Ho realised that the co-boss (Tongkui's father's working partner) is his biological father.Young Ho's father observed his diligence and decided to give Young Ho a chance to prove his worth in comparison with Dongku. Young Ho's father announced that there would be a fair competition from the two men to prove their worth and decide the heir to the company. As a rival of Young Ho, Dongku feared that his capability was inferior to that of Young Ho's. Furthermore, Dongku was jealous for having Min Kyung being engaged with Young Ho. To discredit Young Ho as best he could, he used unfair methods through forgery involving bank accounts, as a cover-up to deceive Young Ho's father.Young Ho's father discovered the fraud done by Dongku and his father. He contacted Dongku's father, and condemned him. Young Ho's father also threatened to help Young Ho and proclaim him as heir unanimously if Tongkui and his father continued with their unfair deeds. That same night, Young Ho's father met Min Kyung's father. Tongkui's father, who was drunk, knocked down the duo as they were talking to each other and crossing the road. Dongku was seen rushing and persuaded his father to escape while he called for an ambulance. The duo were sent to the hospital. Young Ho's father was seriously injured and was in a coma. A respirator was used to assist with his respiration. Min Kyung's father sustained relatively lighter injuries.Dongku used this opportunity to gain advantage over Young Ho in the competition to become the heir, with his father's help. Young Ho, on the other hand, was having a hard time struggling to compete against Dongku and his acts of sabotage.Young Ho's father was seen waking up when Min Kyung came to visit him. He could not talk, but was conscious of the environment around him. Later, he instructed Min Kyung to lend Young Ho a helping hand by recruiting him into the company. Friends and relatives who later visited him thought that he was in a coma, but was in fact conscious. Later, he was sent away to a countryside villa to rest. As he was transported into the ambulance, he feigned a coma as Tongkui was at his side. This was to allow him to surprise Dongku and his father when he struck at the last moment, and to expose their atrocities.Young Ho's father was wheelchair-bound from the accident and occasionally needed Min Kyung's help for mobility during her occasional and secretive visits. During these visits, Young Ho's father would give instructions to Min Kyung on helping Young Ho. In one occasion, Min Kyung looked rather disappointed when she learnt that chances of Young Ho's father being able to walk again were very slim. The day came when the heir of the company would be declared. Young Ho, who was working hard to put in his final efforts of the competition, felt hopeless as he foresaw the fact that Tongkui's father would declare Tongkui as heir. Young Ho's father, on the other hand, waited in his car for the opportunity to expose Tongkui's father's atrocities.Dongku's father was talking with his client over the phone when Young Ho's father walked in. Shocked, Tongkui's father quickly hung up the phone, as Young Ho's father confidently talked about the events leading to the drunken accident. Young Ho's father showed a tape that recorded a conversation concerning the usage of fraud to discredit Young Ho. Using the hit-and-run accident as an excuse, he told Dongku's father to resign from the company at the heir declaration meeting, on the same day at six o'clock, or else his plot would be exposed and he would then be handed over to the police.Young Ho was shocked when he saw his father at the meeting. Young Ho was declared to be the heir of the company and both Tongkui and his father announced their resignations.Young Ho instead wished to fulfill his long-time dream of becoming an astronomer and announced his intention of resigning as boss in order to become a full-time astronomer, after working for a few months. With the consent of his father, Young Ho took up astronomy at a space observation centre in Australia. He later married Min Kyung, and was seen swearing their wedding vows in front of a Christian priest. Our Director is Han Jeong-Hwan...My second Tv show is "Han River baLLad"..aLso known as Ode to the han river, The baLLad of han river, and A song of han river...Han river baLLad is a story of life and love involving a vibrant middle-aged woman, her two daughters, a niece, a nephew, and a cast of other characters surrounding them. The woman, named Kim Young-hee (Go Doo Shim), is a widow who sells fish to support her family. Through their often turbulent lives, we are able to experience the difficulties of a not uncommon family and the persistence of the love its members have for one another.MBC TV’s new weekend drama, “Song of the Han River,” revolves around the lives of a vibrant middle-aged woman, her two daughters and a cast of other characters surrounding them. Like your mother back home, who would take a switch to you if you were bad and give you a pat on the back when you were feeling down, “Song of the Han River” is a warm but enervating story of ordinary people dealing with the normal difficulties of life.To bring about a sort of renaissance in MBC’s weekend drama offerings, “Song of the Han River” ambitiously reunites the team of Kim Jeong-su and Choi Jong-su from the popular MBC drama “You and I” for the first time in 6 years. Planning and preparations for this new presentation were undertaken from last May, and the target audience ranges from those in their early 30s to those in their 50s.Producer Choi Jong-su revealed that his intention was to create a drama dealing with a variety of characters. “Song of the Han River” also portrays the linkage between the past and present by making use of the Han River as a central theme. Throughout its entire length, this new drama portrays a range of Korean emotions and sentiment, and particular care was taken in casting so as to attract young viewers in addition to the targeted middle-age group. The title comes from the eponymous theme song, “Song of the Han River,” originally a folk song that has been re-cut with an upbeat modern feel by the group The Bubble Sisters. Work is underway however, to connect the mood of the song’s original version with the drama’s overall feel, and it will be interesting to see just how this is accomplished. Our director is Choi Jong Soo..My third TV show is "Freeze"stars Lee Seo Jin (Damo, Firebird) as Jung Won, a vampire who has lived for most of his 350 years of age trying to forget the love he lost. He runs a luxurious bar with his friend and fellow vampire Ihwa (Son Tae Young of Ode To The Han River and Wishing Stairs). All she could do was observe and protect her friend from afar (emotionally), as he closed himself to any new emotion, afraid of suffering the same tragedy. But once he meets human Ji Woo (Park Han Byul of Yeon Gaesomun and To Marry a Millionaire), all those emotions frozen by time start to melt away for Jung Won. And of course Ihwa is not too happy about that...The most important wind change in the Korean TV drama industry during 2006 was the rising importance of cable. For over a decade just a blip in the radar, cable channels have finally started raising their voice, coupled with the increasing number of subscribers, and the problem non-mainstream dramas have finding a spot on network television. Cable channels like OCN (Hyena, Someday) and SuperAction (Dasepo Girls Series) started producing TV dramas for the first time. Without the pressure of viewer ratings, most of these shows complete shooting before broadcast, boast visuals comparable with films, and have more space to experiment in their new environment. One of those examples, one of the first to come out on DVD, is CGV Cable Channel's Freeze.Freeze was produced by music video/commercial mainstay Jung Jae Hoon, who worked with Han Ji Seung on Alone in Love as assistant producer, a show from the same production company Yellow Film. The rights for the drama were sold to Japan for 1.2 billion won even before completing its shoot. Now finally available on DVD, this special edition of Freeze not only includes the 5-Episode cable series, but also a special, until now unreleased film about the same subject, as well as the following special features: Three People Three Colors - Their Story (Shiny Black Lee Seo Jin, Lovely White Park Han Byul(me), Forever Red Son Tae Young) About Freeze - Interview with Producer Jung Jae Hoon, Music Director Kim Yong Hwl No Good but Good Stuff - NG Collection and Staff Interview Music Video - Jin Chu Ha's Graduation Tears, The Name's DestinyThe fourth tV show I made is "CoupLe of Fantasy"..aLso known as CoupLe Of TroubLe...This series is based on the 1987 American movie Overboard. Anna Jo (Han Ye Seul) is a rude, feisty, and audacious American-bred heiress who can never be satisfied. She returns to Korea only to continue being a controlling wife to her already cowardly husband, Billy Park (Kim Sung Min). When her yacht gets stuck for repairs, she hires local handyman Jang Chul Soo (Oh Ji Ho) to fix her shower, but when they have a heated spat over her dissatisfaction and non payment, she pushes him overboard and dunks his tools into the ocean right along with him. Later, after a quarrel with Billy that threatens to end their marriage, she herself gets drunkenly pitched overboard and falls victim to a bad case of amnesia. And my Last TV show I made..This is "bLue fish"..aLso known as Green Fish..This is a drama about a violinist, Jung Eun Soo, and a car designer, Lee Hyun Woo. Park Dong Hyuk is a director at a corporation who marries Eun Soo for ambition. Kang Yoon Jung is Hyun Woo’s hoobae and is also in love with him. Hyun Woo thought that Eun Soo died in an accident. The drama will be about a pair of lovers separating due to parental objections and meeting again when the woman is already married. That's aLL!!
