It's nice to see your page with some brighter colors. I hope that the things in your life that have made you less than happy quickly improve and bring a smile back to your face, and a feeling of warmth back into your heart.

Have you ever -really- been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and that means that someone can get inside you and really mess you up. You build up all these defenses, you build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, ever. Then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life...You give them a piece of you. They didn't ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you or just give you that look that makes your stomach flutter, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. Deep inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so a simple phrase like 'maybe we should be just friends' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. Damn, it hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. Love can suck.

But please remember to smile. Even if it's a sad smile. Because a smile, even a sad one, is a simple way to let go of some of the hurt. It won't make it all better. Hell no. But the simple sense of warmth can be like a band-aid on a bruise. It won't make it heal much faster, but it helps to lessen the pain just a bit.
