The "David vs. David" Experience

Flashback...

We placed our bets. The "tale of two Davids" had gotten us both caught up in the game...(I wont tell who bets on who)..but both of us are big fans...I really have no idea who's winning, but in my heart, Archuleta and Cook are the ultimate singing idols not just in America but also in the Phillipines... When the American Idol Season 7 was declared, cant help but shed tears..It's been a journey, not just for the contenders, not just for our personal favorites, Cook and Archuleta but also for "us"... I wont forget how we cheered for our own singing idols, sing with them as they performed and outperformed the rest,how "Always Be My Baby" became one of our favorite love songs, how i promised myself to watch the two Davids perform here in the Philippines if given the chance and... how my Randy said yes to that promise. We were still in college then and we were not under the impression that this simple promise would be put to test...

May 15,2009

The overwhelming excitement was just to much to bear. Davids Cook and Archuleta are going to sing and perform live in Manila. Call me crazy but i was even dreaming about them and their live performance. The big day is going to be tomorrow and i dont have the tickets yet.But, I felt the excitement expired and frustration slowly filled me when Randy said he might not go to the concert due to the demands of his job. I couldnt help but cry,I reminded Randy how i wanted this,how we planned for this and how we promised that were watching the show together. Again, I shed tears because of these two Davids. I remembered how i posted a message/comment on Randy's friendster page telling him how excited I was for May 16's event, how i researched the web for ticket prices, how i woke from the middle of my sleep hearing Archuleta's voice, singing "A Little Too Not Over You" at a local show...it's just disappointing.But I didnt lose hope, my friend and cousins are not coming so I figured myself going to MOA....alone, whatever it takes.

At around 1:30 am,while at work an unexpected email reached my inbox. He's coming! We're watching the show together! I still lacked sleep and I just arrived home from work but i excitedly hurried to the mall that sells the concert tickets...
And finally, I just saw myself heading to Mall of Asia concert grounds with Randy, trying to get ourselves into the big crowd,looking for the best spot to view our "idols" . That was really a night to remember it's difficult to tell all the details! With a failing camera(we forgot to recharge the batteries), we tried capturing every precious moment of that night...I can still remember us jumping for concert posters when its being distributed. We grooved with Archuleta, we waved our hands, we cheered(this time its LIVE),we laughed, we sang and we kissed when David Cook sang our favorite "Always be my Baby"...And i just didnt notice my "David" teardrop fell for the third time. But this time, its not for any reason... I shed tears because we became a part of this night,we were one of the thousands of hearts with different reasons to be here, we made our simple and weird college day's promise come true. And I guess everybody would agree when i say,the David vs. David experience is worth the wait,time and tear!"
